Reuters is reporting that Sony Pictures Animation plans on creating a movie based on the popular Rollercoaster Tycoon PC game. Created in 1999 by Chris Sawyer, the series has spawned over $300 million in sales and multiple sequels and expansions. It seems like Hollywood is trying to get into the tycoon business of making rather ‘odd’ video games as adaptation material, lately. Rollercoaster Tycoon joins a long line of games that have been adapted into movies, movies that no one thought possible as source material.
Ishan discusses extensively the idea behind RCT's game design and how it excels as a simulation game using extremely simple but restrictive methods.
This was one of the greatest games of all time and I wish Chris Sawyer still made games like it today.

Marcel Vos once built a roller coaster in Roller Coaster Tycoon 2 that took 232 days to complete. In real time. Now he’s made one that takes 18 times as long
Got to give him kudos for dedication is what you need, plus he goes into so much detail about the mechanics of brake blocks etc. Wow.
WHAT!?! A movie based on a game about building and maintaining the profitability of a park? Worst idea yet.
