The Rarest and Most Valuable Playstation 2 (PS2) Games

In stark contrast to the Cheapest Games series, this Rare & Valuable series will round up the rarest and most valuable games for a given console or handheld so you'll know what to look for whether you are buying or selling. Below you will see two prices beside each title. The first is the average daily selling price, which is typically the going rate for the game by itself. The second price is the highest price in the past three months which is usually the price for the new/sealed game. Note that some of these games are not rare in the sense that there are not many available, but rare relative to demand, which makes the games expensive.

my top 3 most wanted hard to find ps2 games are

1. MGS 3 Subsistence Limited Edition

2. Magna Carta

3. ZOE 2nd Runner (Kojima for the love of god make a sequal)

Oh and for the record, Ps3 owners ,Folklore is becoming hard to find in the next 4-5 years it will be considered rare, so if you own it hold on to it, if not and you somehow stumble upon it buy it immeadiatley.

i pickd up a new copy of ICO that was on clearance at blockbuster for $6.99

also they mention Digital devil saga but dont mention the limited edition that goes for upward of $200 new

I only have ICO and Shadow Hearts from that list, would Shadow of the Colossus be considered rare? And I guess I should hang onto Magna Carta and Folklore

I was able to find Ico used at a gamestop near me last year for the standard 20$, it was the last one. There weren't any other stores that had it in a radius of like 10 miles i'm glad I got one.

I still hope Sony re-releases Ico/Shadow in HD though. They really need them. They're amazing games but hard to look at nowadays.

When i tried to buy folklore about 6 months ago i couldn't find it on any websites or stores, eventually found it and imported it from Ebay for $50(US).

Shadow Hearts sequel with shadow Hearts 2 characters jochim, yuri... but man this was the first time in my life i was disappointed to see a studio close Azure i believe i dont know who has the publishing rights now. really would love to see a sequel.
very under rated and best game of all time on PS2.

they actually re-released ico in the uk a year or two after the original release, so the pal version might not be worth as much.

i rmember playin the demo of it from the old OPM magazine and was hooked, unfortunately couldnt find a copy when it was released. have looking for a copy for literally years now may have to just pay the ridiculous price on eBay. was $75 worth it btw?

I had silent bomber but the game kept freezing after a hard boss near the end. I got rid of it as I could never get past that part.

I am surprised Xenosaga 3 sealed is pushing $100 on ebay good thing I still have a sealed copy. But I am surprised Ar Tonelico and Ar Tonelico 2 are not on the list for rare games. They both appeared on the shelf for a week and then just vanished where I live good thing I snatched them up.

That's the only one I have, but it's used/open. A little scratched up, and I still have original case, and manual.

I thought it was ridiculous that, you did not even have to play the game to unlock the characters/multi characters in the PSN, and Xbox live versions. Also they did not get the artwork in the game, just remixed music, plus the HD graphics.

@godshand go to your local used video/cd music shop ask them to clean your marvel vs, capcom2 disc. plus call around your local shrink wrap company as i'll be doing for my silent bomber game ps1 ask how much it will cost to plastic wrap your game.. and you'll be in business bam!!!! your value just went up

I bought MGS3 limited edition with "existence DVD" for 15 € about a year ago. Guess you just have to be lucky :D

Neither I nor the guy who sold it to me knew about the value though, I just wanted to play the damn game in third person at the time.

Btw, if anybody cares to sell me ICO for let's say 10 bucks, I'd be happy to do business with you. lol

that the prices are for US releases... ICO for example, is worth most for the US release... the JPN and UK release prices are rather tame... but the US prices are goin thru the roof...

i'm sure that applies to other games on that list as well...

Old and outdated tech that belonged in the right era, when at the time it was considered the pinnacle when it came to technology. Not so much for the 360 though, as it considered old and outdated tech in this era.

AHH been tryin to get my hands on a good copy of ICO, bought one online and turned out to be F***ed up. kept stopping at the same place. Last time I buy an ICO online.

Was wondering about this game my bro got, said to have been cancled after it hit the shelves. Its called Red Rose, or somthing like that, I've only seen two compies since that game came out. My bro's and some other one in the used section.
