Most games have a tutorial level, but Heavy Rain makes it a little unique.

Why do I, the customer, a potential purchaser of the game, have to jump through all these stupid hoops just to try it out. Im not sold on the game yet and the demo will be the decider as to whether or not I part with my cash.

I got the demo earlier this morning, and finally sat down and play.
Without a doubt this is graphically more impressive than Uncharted 2. The rain drops running off Scott Shelby's face, dripping on his nose, pattering off his coat is quite literally amazing. When you walk past a plastic trashcan you can hear the rain drops pattering on the cover. The raindrops drip on the dumpster and swirl on the metal is very convincing. The scratches in the wood, the whiteout graffiti, the labels on the trashed pkgs O_O. I was very very impressed with the mocap.

Slight cons: Voice acting a little flat. Pacing is a little bit slow, but the action sequences were convincingly good. When I put on the FBI glasses and the train roared by... I thought it was CG for a sec, until I looked at the grass.

This game is a graphical showcase bar none...

you need to go to your User Account in XMB and select Redeem code from there. The code didn't work for me in the PSN Store but did in the Redeem Code option in XMB. I believe this was the same for the GoW3 demo

I took dalibor's suggestion to the next level, and actually had four different browsers up trying to get it to work. IE, Chrome (my standard), Firefox, and Opera.

What I'm on is the truth... I'm glad this demo is here. I can't wait until more people experience it. This game is going to bomb so big. I can't wait to sit back and laugh and laugh and laugh at the dismal numbers for this piece of tripe trash. Shadows Of Destiny is, as I've always said, better... It's 8 years older by the way. I couldn't believe how restricted I was when playing Heavy Rain... You all kept saying there's gameplay but there really isn't. There are tiny events and moments of gameplay peppered throughout. Just enough to keep the controller in your hand and not laying beside you. That's what I feared the most about the game and it came true.

You all are misleading people by telling them everything this game isn't. I am glad the demo will be had by all next week cos it needs to be out there and in the minds of gamers who are on the fence about buying it. Trust me, one play and you'll be off the fence. You'll have your die hards who would buy it just on principal, about 70,000 of you but no more than that. HR will sell 200,000 life time. Trust me. It sucks.

"Heavy Rain is a game you don't even need to buy... Just watch all the uploaded movies on Youtube or Gametrailers. Since it's a QTE game with little actual gameplay you'll get the entire expereince and story for free. That's what I'm going to do and I encourage everyone to do the same.

All there steps might take multiple tries and refreshing. I had 3pcs of evidence but then i lost connection and had to refresh the page.

Been playing for an hour................I`m sold!! But lets get it out of the way now for the QTE dislike crowd. Yes, there are QTE events BUT its so much more than simple button presses! For me im totally fine with how they actually work in the game. You can walk round your environment, change camera angle to give you a better perspective, you can look around/move the camera using L3 (the characters head follows the movement). It really is a tremendous exerience!
Now, one thing HR does better than nigh on everything else is presentation.......This things looks jaw dropping!! Hands down THE best character models your likely to this generation! The facial detail is a joy to behold! Excellent lip sync technology, right down to a characters teeth! all modeled in fantastic detail. (epsecially the loading screen with the close up of the characters face). Environments are jam packed with detail, excellent texture resolution, excellent lighting, and a tremendously sharp image quality! fabulous rain/drops/splashes etc ec. They really have gone to town on this!!! Audio wise its great aswell, music especially................All in all its better than i thought it would be and now i can`t wait for the retail version to hit.

If this game is anything like Farenheit/Indigo Prophecy, it's going to be really unique and unlike anything you've played before. Which is great in my opinion. I had the same problem. You need to create a UK account to download it. Some US codes work, but for the ones that don't, a UK account will fix ya right up.

It's funny. You read some of the comments of articles posted in the past about the QT events and I have no problem with it. That might be because I was playing ZORK and all sorts of other text adventures in the 80's where you had type everything you wanted to do.

Walking with the right trigger sucks so hard I can't beleive why they didn't use the left analog stick. You think RE has tank controls wait until you play this, nasty controls. i think the controls are very fluid. but take a little bit of getting used to. you only use r2 to move, all direction is done with the left stick so it's not that different (like a racing game really)

oh and i think some of the people who've been playing this in some of the video's i've seen have never even seen a controller let alone used one, my character moved alot smother than i've seen in the vid's.

I finally figured out why I couldn't get the right answers. Some of the items on the page didn't appear the first few times I tried to solve the mysterious. All the items on the items finally appeared when I went to my older PC.

When I submitted the correct on the 4 items, I never got the code on my email after several hours.

The Heavy Rain demo beginning to be a complete waste of time being so glitchy to get it. Is this a good impression Sony is trying to make? I was very interested to play the game and after wasted several hours trying to get the complicated demo, I don't think I care to buy the game anymore when it comes out.

If Sony wants people to buy the game, just make the demo easy to download than doing this. There is no value than turning some of the potential buyers off.

I got the demo earlier this morning, and finally sat down and play.
Without a doubt this is graphically more impressive than Uncharted 2. The rain drops running off Scott Shelby's face, dripping on his nose, pattering off his coat is quite literally amazing. When you walk past a plastic trashcan you can hear the rain drops pattering on the cover. The raindrops drip on the dumpster and swirl on the metal is very convincing. The scratches in the wood, the whiteout graffiti, the labels on the trashed pkgs O_O. I was very very impressed with the mocap.

Slight cons: Voice acting a little flat. Pacing is a little bit slow, but the action sequences were convincingly good. When I put on the FBI glasses and the train roared by... I thought it was CG for a sec, until I looked at the grass.

This game is a graphical showcase barnone O_O.

Been lurking here at n4g for 2 years and thought I'd finally speak up since it seems alot of people are having problems getting the demo.

I just read this and went through the paces of registering, filling in the clues and downloading the demo. It works like a charm and the thing is I did it all via the ps3 browser. Thought it might be nice to know in case you're someone like me who likes doing everything on one platform or don't have a pc.

On another note I just wanna say that I'm a big fan of Quantic Dream and the approach to game design David Cage seems to be taking. I believe gaming needs potentially innovating ip's like this to show people that our hobby can be alot more than it currently is. Really looking forward to both the demo and the game whether it turns out great or just ok, I'm betting on the former. :-)

Thx to everyone linking to tips on how to get the demo. I just finished playing mine and was impressed. Presentation and gameplay turned out MUCH better than I was expecting.

For starters, it looks...fantastic. It really does. Needs to be played on an HDTV. All the leaked youtube vids etc did the game no justice. OOZES atmosphere the way BioShock did. I find myself just standing there looking at stuff.

The charachter models and the little twitches and things they do are great. The sound and music are better than I was expecting. Ominous. Feels like I'm playing Seven the movie.

The movement controls are NOT as hard as some people are making it out to be. Walking by holding down R2 and the left analog stick is not that bad. I've played so many games just this past year where you have to hold down a button AND the analog stick simultaneously to run, sprint or drive (eg. Dead Space, RE5, Batman Arkham Asylum, Resistance 2, Assassin's Creed 2, Demon's Souls) and this is JUST like that...except you walk instead of run. It's like driving in Burnout Paradise or GTA4 where you hold R2 to give 'er gas and steer with the left stick. Additionally, you don't just start walking automatically when you press R2, it basically just unlocks the left stick and from there you still have to move up to go up etc, so you are always in complete control. I've spent so much time running in Batman, Demon's Souls, Ass' Creed and driving in Burnout that it's just second nature to me, and should be to most people that have mastered those games.

So yeah. Phew! Things are lookin' good.

@P Bomb, to be honest the walking is the only thing I could say was wrong with the game so far. I don't mind holding R2 to walk at all but I would have preferred tank controls to 'point the direction you want the character to move on screen' controls. It's too easy to knock your character off their tracks. I'm sure it's something you get more used to as the game goes on though. I guess I got much better at it just in the short space of the demo already.

Holy crap, I really don't want to make the folks who can't get a code feel bad but holy hot damnation that demo was sweet.

I didn't want to ruin the full game for myself by playing the demo but the strain of not knowing whether the gamble this game takes would work or not was too much for me. I had to try it just to make sure I wasn't holding out in vain for a crappy game. I needn't have worried, the demo showed the game to be EXACTLY what I hoped it would be.

It's got atmosphere up the yim yam. Anyone who played Indigo prophecy just picture the atmospheric cool start of that game brought to the next level. I really hope the game keeps up the level of coolness that this demo had and doesn't devolve into ridiculous virtual ass grabbing like Indigo prophecy did.

Of course it won't be for a lot of people but don't worry when you hear that. When I heard people say that I was worried it might be a 'Some people might not be able to get over it's flaws' type of thing but it's not. If you think the style of this game looks interesting, judging by the demo you're really gonna like it. It completely achieves what it sets out to achieve.
