Gameswire has compared screenshots of the recently-released PS3 and Xbox 360 demos of Battlefield: Bad Company 2 to see which version has the early lead.

UNCHARTED 2 in the graphics department with their vistas. Thats NOT what I see in these vistas. The game at least looks better than Modern Warfare 2. Also the difference in ligthning is because how each console handles it. I really doubt this game really push the PS3 as hard as Uncharted tough...Anyway I have it pre ordered..

It is a multiplatform game, the differences are purely graphical and they are going to be just like every other multiplat game.. It will either look identical on both systems or it will look slightly better on one console (PS3 or 360). The graphic differences in multiplatform games are so small that you HAVE to do screen shot comparisons side by side at full res to even notice a difference. That is what is so funny about this. Fanboys on both sides try to argue as if it makes a single difference. The game will play the same on both consoles and every one will enjoy it equally.

Yes ive been playing the 360 demo lately and those screenshots seem really dark. Also DICE have stated that when it launches it will look even better then the Demo. Probably not much but hey better then nothing, either way it looks good

"sigh" yeah, i knew from the start the sequel was going to shine on 360. it all started from the first game with it having better textures and framerate, so you can't help to not see the concept of all that porting over in the sequel.

The Xbox360 has higher contrast than the PS3 version. The only thing DICE has to tweak/correct is to put the in-game contrast on the PS3 version to 8 or 75% to match the Xbox360 counterpart "please note that the game doesn't say 8/75% its just simply the contrast bar that you bump up in the options menu" :-)

There are two stacks of pipes on the ground . The piping stack on the right shows the same detail of light between ps3 and 360 versions. 360 is only a shade darker.

On the otherhand, looking at the shadows cast by the left stack of pipes... the blacks are crushed in the 360. The difference between light and dark should be similar if they were using the same lighting model.

This suggests they are using two different types of lighting. Please do not construe this as a console endorsement. Dice might just be experimenting.

I was initially thinking it might have had something to do with that myself, however, it has happened before on ps3 that textures and detail, as well as objects, have been intentionally left out of the ps3 multiplats.

If you really look at the shots then up close the PS3 version looks better, the stuff in the distance looks better on the 360.
Just look at the gun, the PS3 version has loads of detail, the 360 version looks black, but if you look out into the distance then the city looks crisper on the 360, and the PS3 version looks a little foggy. So how can this be? If these shots are comparing the two demos, well the ps3 beta was out two months prior to the demo being relased on the 360, that's alot of time to improve things.

I already played the 360 demo and I have been trying to download the PS3 version, but it hasn't shown up in the store yet (or at least a few hours ago when I checked). Does anybody know when it is going to show up in the playstation store? I want to do my own comparison. That is what I usually do.

I am a Sony fanboy and even I admit that there is a HUGE DIFFERENCE in terms of graphics between the 360 and PS3. The PS3 looks like CRAP compared to the 360 version.

They look the same. I don't think Dice would make one game look better on one console. Dice wants to make both parties happy. Only exclusive games can show the true power of each console.

One thing I always notice about these comparisons...they always seem to show the PS3 as having the higher contrast. This is a problem, not simply by the version you're playing, but by the calibration of your television. If people would simply calibrate their televisions to indicate proper colors, contrast, brightness, etc...this would simply not be an issue.

As for an overall comparison in the texture department, both are very VERY similar. I've played both, both basically look the same, and you will not notice much of a difference. Both seem to run the same, both have slight tearing issues, and most likely both games will have some of these problems addressed before the launch.

But...for one simple reason, the PS3 version comes out on top for me.

The sound.

I seem to find the Xbox 360's sound just never seems to match what can be outputted by the PS3...I've triple checked all the reasons that could be causing it, and everything's properly setting up using digital sound through optical on both consoles. The PS3 shows it to be running in Dolby Digital, and same with the 360. I just find the sound is a lot more "boomy" and "crisp" sounding on the PS3.

Other than that, both are nearly identical.

Oh yeah, and this is a BETA. Duh. :/

EDIT: Oh yeah, another great thing about the PS3 version is I don't have to pay for Xbox Live to play the game I've already paid for. :)

Screenshots like this are taken from the default output of the console, using a PC capture card.

The TV being used has absolutely no effect on the quality of the screenshots - the shots are captured before the signal has reached the TV.

After playing both demos ALOT as I'm still unsure of which version to get... the MAIN difference is clearly the environmental / tree compression. The 360 version has a very ugly grid-like cross hatch effect that I cannot stand right now. When I play my sniper or even assault and I try to be all stealthy n what not, I walk through the trees and the way the images are compressed for the 360 are just nasty I don't know why they chose to do that.

If you dont know what I'm talking about, go walk up into some trees in the 360 version, right up to the textures... you will see it clearly... The PS3 doesn't have this.. I havn't seen difference this large since Bayonetta really...

I was actually leaning more towards the xbox version before the demo came out as I played the PS3 beta and thought it was fantastic, but with the native AA on the 360, it would look much smoother... even THAT didnt change much after playing the demo, I may just go with the ps3 version..

Please check that tree thing out before you respond with nerdrage or disagree... I'm not chirping the 360 I'm just making the observation that I havn't seen anyone bring up yet.. but actually does effect my decision quite a bit because I play from the trees / grasses a lot.

we're on our 4th year now and I'm still seeing these type of comparisons... Isn't the PS3 HW years ahead of the 360?

It's a little old to have a ps3 vs 360...so like now that ps3 is cheap it has a right to go against a system that has been beating it for years now?

Of course PS3 will surpass 360 now...I mean if you was on a budget and you seen a nice computer that was cheap but then another computer that was a little better but cost a lot more...Pretty obvious the person that was on a budget would go for the more cheaper one.

I have both systems myself so I could careless what wins.

another one where the ps3s brightness has be turned up! lol for example the part in the boat the 360's gun is almost black from thew shadows and you can completely see the gun in the ps3s, thats the brightness turned way up.. also one of the theres a sun with rays in the 360 and in the ps3 there isnt even a sun? lol theres never that much difference lol.. really is this the stage comparisons are getting to? lol

I'm going to be a little off topic here... But is it better to have your Reference level at Standard, Intermediate, or Expanded?

Mate if you are using hd cables and i think vga u should set it to expanded. It will look alot more vivid if its too dark then adjust ur tv settings.

Same with ps3 u should set rgb to full, which they have not done on this comparison LOL which renders it pointless.

Is it just me or look at it in HD looks like MW2? not like the game but graphics?

Anyways here are things to keep in mind, PS3 got the beta an that could mean that they are working hard on making the PS3 one look better or about the same as the 360 (Unlike most other titles do), another thing that could happen is PS3 only content.

Anyways, the PS3 is only system out their that isn't using outdated disc, plus I don't know if I will pick my copy of this Vs FF13 and GOW3.

Just played both versions of the demo and to be honest so far the ps3 version is slightly better in terms of smoother play and better graphics, actualy i think the 360 looks more washed out..

But really guys and girls those with only 1 system carnt really say which is best , you have to play on both then you are entitled to make a comment on comaprison...

The game rocks either ways...
