IGN: PS3 Perspective: ME2 is Better than Uncharted

It spiraled out of control faster than anyone thought it would. About two weeks ago, Erik Brudvig posted IGN's review of Mass Effect 2, and in 14 article comments, the fight was on.

Let me start by saying that I think this is complete BS. You probably know that I am a PS3 fan, there is no denying that. I'm sure you 360 fans are enjoying ME2 and I am happy for you. The problem with this "article" is that it is not fair. I hate RPGs. That includes ME, Fallout, Demon's Souls, FF, etc. As such IMO Uncharted 2 is a better game solely because I enjoy it more.

This whole thing about one game being better than another is wrong, because different people have different opinions, always have always will.

I could understand with what Gregg Miller is saying....RPG's like Mass Effect is a much more "engrossing" kind of experience because the way you build your character and the connection to the character and story itself is probably greater because of that.

But I still don't think it's right to compare both games like this though because they both offer different experiences and both serve different purposes gaming wise... I like Mass Effect 2 because of the engrossing story line and robust character development. I think about playing it when Im at work.

I like Uncharted 2 because it gets my blood pumping and it is an extremely polished, wild ride. I think about playing it when Im at work. (when it came out at least)

I think the problem here is that he's disturbed by the fact that he cant give a game a higher score without dealing with some crazed fanboy. It seems as though some are very protective over their games. And yeah it might be better to him, but hes the one reviewing it and thats all that matters.

The only way they're comparable is that they're in the same medium. Not everyone's going to like Mass Effect 2, and not everyone's going to like Uncharted 2. Everyone has a right to their own opinion.

I was willing to accept that 51/100 for WKC and 7/10 for MAG just because it came from them (not that I care what anyone thinks, but I was willing to respect their opinion); after all, they are IGN, the most respected gaming site on the web. They had a few sh1tty editorials last year, but I thought "oh well, it must be a slow season". But now that ME2 and U2 are out, gamers are busy, and instead of conforming to both consoles having their respective killer apps or whatever you want to call them, IGN has to step in and make a public display of IGNorance.

Both games are great ME2 is one of the best games ive played on 360 the same for U2:AT on PS3. It's a tough call.

But IGN just had an article downplaying "Console Wars" then throw a live grenade of thier own.

idc how good ME2 may seem to be, no i havent played it but i purchased and finished ME1 and must say i was satisfied. The sequel can only enhance so much without taking away sum things.

ME2 is on a much larger scale than UC2. IT has many stories, much more variety in every facet of the game (choice of words, weapons, powers, ...). ME2 also has more chicks to sleep with, more emotion, more customization. Mass Effect is just more, and all of it is great. Games like UC2 should sell for $50 new. WRPG's like ME, Morrowind, Oblivion and fallout3 deserve $60 price tag. Game like Bayonneta, Darksiders and God Of War, should retail for $40 new. I usually wait for those types of games to drop in price because I trade them in a few days after I buy them. They are all fun and some look better than others, but a $60 game should give you that feeling ME2 gives.

Amended: If he had said UC2 was better, there would have been no talk of apples and oranges. I am sure Mr. Miller would not have written the article if PS3 fanboys didn't go to the 360 review and start talking sh!t about how much better UC2 is. PS3 fanboys got this weird loyalty code. It is so obvious that ME is on a much larger scale that a liner action game like UC2. Even if UC got 10/10 from IGN for action and graphics, ME would still be a better game to most reviewers and gamers because of the sum of its parts. BTW, if you played ME2 with a mouse and keyboard it will not be as emersive as if you used the controller. The feed back help you feel the different kick back from weapons, explosions and heavy robots. Feedback is more important than making the game easier to play by pointing and clicking.

Nope the general consensus says Uncharted 2 is better. Calloborating 75 reviews from different sites Uncharted 2 has a 96.19 where as Mass Effect 2 has a 96.07 after 54 reviews. Normally scores go down the more times it reviews so probably once Mass Effect 2 gets 75 reviews the score will be a 96.0.

And Uncharted 2 still has better graphics which is a fact. Gameplay is a matter of opinion.

I HATE when websites review a game and then write more articles lamely defending themselves and justifying why they reviewed a game in a certain way. You never see this in any other industry. Movie reviewers don't write follow-up articles on why they reviewed a movie in a certain way. You don't see Ebert giving a thumbs up one day or Entertainment Weekly giving a "C" to movie and then defend themmelves the next just because people disagree with them.

I actually prefer ME1 over ME2. ME2 is a solid 9/10 game for me, but ME1 was a solid 9.5/10 game. The same score I'd give Uncharted 2.

As far as which is better? They're incomparable, so don't even attempt it.

I want to know how the hell they are finding out more about the characters than what Bioware decides to tell them.

They're two different games. I beat Uncharted 2 within a week. I've had Mass Effect since Christmas and I've only been to Feros(?). It's apples and oranges. I think Uncharted 2 is a much more polished experience and that's about all you can really compare.

in my 34+ years of gaming ME1 and two standout as the greatest first 2 of any trilogy of all the trilogies I have ever read, played, or watched on a television; with ME2 being my favorite single player game of all time(beating my beloved halflife 2). I believe the PS3 fans when they tell me that uncharted 2 is a masterpiece worthy of the superlatives that have been clearly documented for UC2. Concordantly, Mass Effect 2 is also worthy of all the praise it is receiving thus far in its release week.
Incidentally, I really can not express how freaking awesome it is to have your past actions and decisions affect your present and possible future in Mass Effect 2. Its a great day for gamers when games like UC2 and ME2 are released--

I think perspective is important. Whomever writes a "this game is better than that game" article should know that. This is actually a viable comparison. Both are pretty much third person shooters, except one has rpg elements. Therefore you have to compare them on their similarities. Now i love the Mass Effect Series adn currently playing through Mass Effect 2 but as a third person shooter it doesn't hold a candle to Uncharted 2. I look forward to playing ME2 and am considering buying it as opposed to renting it. UC2 was a rental and I got the full use out of it in 2 playthroughs and some online play. It was a great game. Especially the city level. Graphics domination on that level. Like I said a great game but it is entirely possible that someone can like ME2 better, and guess what you don't need to get up in arms about it. If you have played both and like UC2 better more power to you.

Eh matter of opinion. I didn't play UC2 yet but Mass Effect 2 was the third best game I've ever played (Behind KOTOR1 and MGS4). Took me 45 hours to beat the game and I enjoyed every minute of it. I saw a friend play Uncharted 2 and its looks like its a amazing game too. PS3 and 360 owners both won here. No need to turn this into a flame war IGN.

The graphics for ME2 were unbelievable, it is a tough choice, UC2 or ME2. I dont own a 360, but a ps3. For me, Just trying the demo of Heavy Rain made me think woooooooooow. Heavy Rain's demo (in my opinion) has some of the best graphics ever. Imagine the full game.

I think we all have had enough of you. Do you even understand the reason why these sites, like IGN and gamepro do reviews? They do them so they can give people their feelings of how the game plays, the story, if they noticed any game breaking problems. You make it sound like reviewers are completely off and outstanding games like ME2, Gears, UC2, and KZ2 all got 40/100. When in reality, they scored AAA from all these sites. A lot of people will be on the fence of purchasing a game and want to hear from experienced reviewers that it is either worth their money or not. I absolutely loved MGS4, but a 10/10? No effing way. Personally I'd give it an 8.5; maybe a 9 if MGO wasn't so crap and if you could install all the chapers onto your HDD so you didn't have to wait every time you load a game from a different chapter.

U2 was awesome. For an Action/Adventure game it was nearly perfect in its execution. ME2 is arguably more ambitious in terms of its scope, but that in no way diminishes the achievements of Naughty Dog. U2 was everything it set out to be and more.

Yeah, but you were playing the PC version so it must be your setup. I didn't see such a glitch in the 360 version. I saw a few minor glitches just like you see in every game, but nothing serious. Mass Effect 2 is an amazingly polished game, especially considering the amount of content it offers.

And you can't honestly believe there aren't glitches in Uncharted 2. I saw several of them in my play through of the game. There are also quite a few multiplayer glitches. Just type 'Uncharted 2 glitches' in the youtube search bar and you will find plenty of examples.

anybody with a brain and a senior highschool/college level education knows that Uncharted 2 and Mass Effect 2 are two different games in two different Genre.

Uncharted 2 is a linear action/adventure game while Mass Effect 2 is a Role Playing game with a very innovative (and I'm sure painful to design) dialog branch..

they cannot be compared, they're not in the same genre/league or whatever.. Uncharted 2 is good at it's genre and ME2 is, in my opinion, one of the best RPG this gen, it's like Deus Ex.

I think the guy was just trying to have a little bit of fun and give his opinion. Its like his own personal blog post that he does outside of the normal game journalism. He's even a noted Sony fan amongst the editors. He even reminds us.

I'll be honest, I'm not really sure what's going on anymore. But this is really starting to get scary. How is it morale for a well known website like IGN to even make a statement like this. That is about the lamest reason I have ever heard to try to convince thousands of console owners that a particular game is better than another one. Ps3 Fans (like myself :) can easily ask why? Uncharted is only on 1 disk Mass Effect is on 2 disk. Uncharted has a better sound system than Mass Effect2 (Not an opinion a fact being that Uncharted is on 7.1 vs ME2 5.1) that's a fact!!! Uncharted 2 utilizes more processor power than Mass Effect 2 7 SPU's compared to only 3 core on 360. Again, not an opinion just a fact! Uncharted 2 won 2009 GAME OF THE YEAR across multiple websites and and game shows!! Not an opinion just a fact! ME2 has not had that opportunity, but I'm sure we all can agree that it will not win GOTY..........

So I guess it comes down to story! How can I convince thousands of fans that one story is better than another? Especially when Uncharted 2 won majority of it's GOTY awards, due to it's magnificent story! Well it's because I can't!! I repeat I can't. Because that is an opinion. Not a fact. It all depends on what you like!

IGN is starting to become a very scary source of Video Game journalism. And this is saddening to me because I grew up on IGN and trusted their website over many others. We all know that flame wars and console wars really hampers the growth of the industry, but it really affects it when the chaperon's (IGN,GAMESPOT,1UP) show their human imperfections. An example is White Knight Chronicles 5.2 score review by IGN.

This game was scored low because it is not about rather or not it is a great Role playing game (Which we all can agree that it is) I know the Japanese agree! (200,000 copies in one week). But it came down to a pissing contest of American RPG's versus Japanese RPG's and that's why this game was poorly scored.

So to sum up this pissed off comment, IGN should be ashamed of themselves by exposing their imperfection and being incapable of remaining professional in the middle of this console life cycle. All this does is ruins the integrity of their website. And with articles like this, it won't take long before they lose a lot of fans. A very disappointing article...........

I think a lot of people are missing the point of this article and simply judging it on the title. The point, as he illustrates in the first few paragraphs, is that discussions of console exclusives on Internet forums has transcended mere debate about the quality of the individual games - it could even be argued that there is little discussion about the games specifically in comparison to the amount of argument and debate there is surrounding which console it is exclusive for.

If Uncharted 2 gets a 10, then some will immediately interpret that as a the equivalent of a cruise missile hitting Redmond, Washington. If Mass Effect 2 gets a 10, then its seen as a response. Instead of lauding over the quality of the games, each low/perfect score is taken as ammo in the flamewars.

We all realise this. I think what Miller is doing is trying to reassert some sincere opinions and discussions of the actual games themselves by proclaiming that one is better than the other. And yet the irony is that some are finding the sheer notion of someone in the media having an opinion as gaming-heresy. But again, the reaction isn't based on whether or not people actually agree/disagree with him on his point that Mass Effect 2 is the better game, its instead based on how such a statement will be received on those same Internet message-boards. I actually agree with him. Character development and story are more important to RPG than for an adventure TPS. So i would agree with him that:

1. U get more involve with the character and the story in ME2 than UC2.
2. U have different path and different outcomes (u can actually see the results of your decision especially if you imported the previous game from ME1).

3. UC2 story, character are preset however, that is how an adventure TPS is, so that is that. You just come for the ride, but u don't get into the story or the character as much as in ME2 (the main focus of an RPG anyways).

ME2 does not have batter graphics, Bioware spends too much resources on the characcter models thus the environments and lighting suffer as a result. U2 has an all around impressive graphics: character models, environments, texture variety, lighting are equally stunning.

i've played ME2 for around 8 hours and dropped it because it was so boring. go the pc version, should have pirated it first. the combat was clunky.

taking cover feels unnatural and enemy AI take 2 clips to go down after taking off their shield with a special ability that i need to wait 30 seconds to refill because my dumb AI teammate spent it 3 seconds ago on something useless.

Sometimes I question these so called professional revieers who claim they are not bias then spit out garbage like this. They claim that they like all systems equally, then review PS3 games as harshly as possible while all the flaws and glitches of other system's games somehow get left out in reviews.And the funniest thing of all, the articles that begin' I am a big Sony lover, but Uncharted 2 is seriously overrated' because if you began with 'You know what Uncharted 2 sucks' everyone would shut you out immediately. ME2 looks good, but Uncharted 2 won GOTY several times for a reason. So until ME2 wins as many times as it did, stop looking for attention IGN and causing flame wars. I haven't played ME2 yet but I did just finish ME1 a couple weeks ago. It was an OK game but not nearly what everyone seems to make it out to be. For ME2 to be better than uncharted 2 it would have to have completely thrown away nearly everything from ME1.

I didn't find the characters all that special, the voice acting for some of the support cast was good but I thought sheppard was dull. The game was not at all as immersive for me as many say it was for them. It was long stretches of tedium interrupted by relatively easy to win battles due to the enemies simple and repetitive AI. I skipped pretty much all the side missions as I found them boring. Even the last boss battle was a joke. my squad died within a couple minutes and I quickly used up all my meds. I ended up killing him with my pistol, it took a while but as his movements were so predictable it wasn't difficult. The battle mechanics really help to inhibit the enjoyment of the game. There is just no way for the battles to feel intense when you are constantly pausing the battle so you can pick some more attacks from the tactics HUD. I avoided using it as much as possible as it made the battles more interesting without the constant interruptions.

On the other hand uncharted had me on the edge of my seat yelling at the screen much of the time, often the exact same dialog as Drake would say just after me. The funniest was me yelling "how I'm supposed to take out a helicopter" just before Drake says the same thing. This game just sucks you right into it. ME didn't do that for me and I'll be surprised if ME2 does if I ever play it. But it's just a completely different type of game and a different experience

I have both franchises , UC 1&2 on PS3 and ME1&2 on PC by the way.

Uncharted is an amazing action game no questions about that but like any action game you play once or twice and you get bored of it and move to the next single player action game ,FPS or what ever.

Mass effect series on the other hand is hell more epic game, it has a very amazing story and action.
ME1 actually is a bit boring and complicated but the story is amazing.

I finished ME1 and had no thought at all about playing it again, I saw no point to it. When I finished Uncharted 2 I immediately said "Let's do that again!" and so I did, and once I finished it on hard I then jumped into crushing mode. Once I finished that there was the online. And I still go back and play the single player now and then. The only problem is that when I do that it makes the other games I'm playing look lame by comparison

It's all about preference, and once you get two amazing games like this you can't really say one is better than the other. I can see where the writer is coming from, enjoying it more because it's his decisions, but plenty of other people prefer to follow the story through another character that way they can play as that character and enjoy learning about that character because that character is a vision of the developer and not the user making choices and such. For myself, I prefer Uncharted because I don't have that control so it allows it to seem more immersive to me because I'm not pausing to make choices, the action and stroy flow. Additionally it makes it so when Drake does somehting wrong, I feel for him instead of wondering why the choice marked "Inquire" ended up coming out as "Tell me what you're doing here!", and so on. It depends on what the player values as most important, but there's no way one is better and it's best to enjoy them both for their individual strengths, not pit their weaknesses against each other

The greatest part of this suicide bomber mission is for the first time in the history of N4G.com you have a consensus of PS3 fans talking about comparing 'Apples and Oranges'.

See because UC2 got the great reviews and game of the year it got compared to everything on the 360.

But now the roles are reversed and look at the whole site explode.

The classic part about it is that it's the PS3 editor..the guy who got a platinum trophy on UC2.

What it proves is what 360 fans knew all along..ME2 is one hell of a game.

What is most interesting is when the IGN review first came in, the first thing PS3 fans said was ME2 should never have gotten a better score than UC2.

But, now someone from the site explains why they believe it did deserve it and we get the 'Apples and Oranges' argument.

I played em' both..Uncharted 2 is the definative Tomb Raider killer. It's an graphical beast and the controls are amazing. But, had Mass Effect 2 came out in 2009 it definately would have not been a unanimous decision on whether UC2 would have received Game of the Year. ME2 is clearly going to top a whole lot of list in a crowdwd 2010.

Bottomline..he could have stated his opinion without calling the opposition blind. But, I definately salute him for trying to explain how a whole lot of us felt after getting swept up in Mass Effect 2.

When Im playin Mass Effect 2 I find combat strange and stiff, and go in and out of cover doesnt feel naturally.

And many bringing up the eyes of the people in UC2 as a down cons, then what the hell is going on in the eyes in Udina, the man u met after you met Admiral Anderson, looks like the eyes are loading up. And I see some cutscene error clips, and sometimes I wait for 10 sec after I had commanded in a action :S

ME2 still has some ugly errors and random freezing, and loading up the game and that can take me up to 40sec each segment in the Citadel. THats horrid because ive installed the game and have an x360 Elite!
For me dosent ME2 deserve 9.6, for my part its only 9 because of the flaws I see in the game...

No game yet on 360 have me blown away by the graphics, and were into the 5th year of 360 life, and only 3th on PS3 and already got blown away by MGS IV, Uncharted 1/2 and Killzone 2!!!

If Mass Effect 2 had been a tps shooter then the game would be mediocre without RPG elements. And the characters I dont care about as much I did in Uncharted 2.

The first thing im going to say is i think that PS3 is the best system on the market hands down. Second UC1&2 are amazing games. Everything from the graphics to the story. I love it. Now that this is out of the way I will say that ME1&2 is an experience every gamer needs to try. While I feel that UC graphics are better, both of the games have great plots and twist. What sets ME apart from UC is the ability to create your on story, the ability to mold your character into what you want him or her to be. I thought it was brilliant the way BioWare allows you to bring your character over from part 1 to part 2. I am by no mean a fanboy, I do feel PS3 is the better console this gen, based on the what it has to offer, but ME is by far the best gaming experience. A lot people who have played and beaten UC2 know how the story ends, but in ME1&2 you can alter the future of the game based on the decisions you make. I mean I pondered for at least five minutes before making a decision. Not only that, I have been gaming for 25yrs strong, and to be honest there are not to many games that have a black lead character. Fallout 3, Demons Souls, and now ME. These games have allowed me to be that. The only thing I can say is that I hope PS3 owners get a chance to play this game, because its really as good as everyone saying it is. Much respect to BioWare.

I'm a gamer I always owned every console available, and although I always preferred one over me and my gaming friends always praised games first, console second, no hate no loyalty. This gen things have gotten out of hand and although nobody is innocent, there is a much larger and stronger air of arrogance from those loyal to the ps3, its not just me saying this, its becoming very noticeable throughout the gaming industry. I think this article is just a reaction right on wrong to all the hostility that comes from a substantial group of extreme ps3 fans that cry foul at even the slightest dissagreement about a review, a award, a preference, a editorial, a joke, a opinion or anything imagineable that does not favor the ps3. How often have we seen a site bombarded by 360 owners for a review? How often have we seen 360 owners attack a reviewers creditability and then next week agree with them for a positive review for a 360 game? Can you tell me who are the folks who say "I stop listening to reviews" and then when UC2 was being(rightfully) praised by almost every site, these same folks fell in love with reviews again. I talked about this before, either you stand against reviews and so all the time regardless of the score OR you acknowlege they are rightful opinions of industry professionals that *you may or may not agree with from time.

Either way you cant have it both ways, go blast them when their critical of YOUR favorite game, and then try to mask your acceptance/pleasure of a positive review with the transparent "Well if ----- gave it a -- it must be a great game. No, if they had no creditability last week then be a man and say they have none this week, because for all you know maybe the game actually sucks but their trying improve their reputation amongst a certain group. Say what you want about IGN but even professionals have to fire back after they've been unfairly attacked so many times.

No rule. There's expectations of professionalism - standards - which would suggest this is a dumb display that shows nothing more than the guy can't suck it up (or didn't on this occasion).

Of course you're right this is no Watergate, its not life or death, and thus in the context of this being a "trivial" videogame article then why is it so "low" to respond to a bunch of hateful comments. Will his reputation be scarred or tarnished, lol hardly those who attacked him which by the way are just as likely to be a mix of immature adults as they are kids, most likely only consider him creditable when he has something pro-sony to say anyway.

As I said before within every industry there are some "professionals" that are outspoken, unlike the norm, compared to others withing that given profession, it can be good or bad choice that brings hate or adoration, Charles Barkley a respected player turned NBA analyst is famous for his criticism of players, media, and avg fans who think they know it all. I've seen emails he read on Live TV from avg fans who attacked him 'cause he mocked their favorite team/player, state etc. He outright calls them names and make derrogatory statements in response, you can see the more "professional" analyst cringe in their chair but much to his credit he's respected by the public, he's a big name for TNT because people buy into him as just being a honest guy, he's flawed but he doesn't pretend not to be, people try to find dirt on him, but its always petty, and only makes him more human, like he gambles too much(Vegas) but he doesn't hide it he says, "yeah maybe I do have a gambling problem but its my money and I'm not hurting anybody" you see people can accept someones flaws and all if they feel there's no alterior motive behind his actions and he's just being honest. Now that I have finished ME2, I find that I like U2's story presentation better.

In ME2's last mission, when my team members were killed left and right, I felt nothing. Bioware needs to learn how to tug on emotions like ICO or Shadow of The Colossus. I'm not asking for MGS4 melodrama, but subtlety does not really work with game characters, only in movies like the Godfather where you have actual method actors.

In U2 however, I felt sorry for Elena near the final stage. I didn't want her to die LOL. Naughty Dog is better at directing drama that's for sure!

BUT mass effect 2 is a great game! the story is fantastic how you take different routes and it ends depending on your choices and stuff, and of course its in-depth and you relate to the character because its an RPG, and its your OWN chracter..

Uncharted 2 however is also a great game, and it excels mass effect 2 graphically by a mile, but lets be honest although i was still intruiged(think ive spelt that wrong) with the story in uncharted 1, i must agree that in uncharted 2 it was rather similar.. finds out theres some treasure, goes for it is double crossed fights for it and has a happy ending.. the story could have been better but dont get me wrong it was still EPIC.. and id have to go with uncharted in terms of gameplay aswell just because you can run jump shoot turn climb a building hang and shoot throwing grenades and dodging bullets, but that type of gameplay wouldnt fit mass effect 2 lol

anyway basically what im saying is they are both great games in different categories, RPG & action/adventure.. its best to just say that theyre both brilliant but will appeal to different people at the end of the day..

Have you played ME2? Bioware stripped the hell out of the RPG elements in this game. Gameplay wise it's basically a TPS with dialogue options and special attacks (biotics and tech abilities). Crysis having best Graphics "I'm not going to argue about it" but I think these other games look better especially Clear Sky because the environment constantly changes where as Crysis is either tropical or snowy for the majority of the game. MW2 snow scene looks better than Crysis IMO. Clear SKY has Day night rain wind storms underground swamps forest and WAY better light effects than Crysis etc.

Anybody else notice the incoherent lighting in ME2? It's the same poor lighting system employed in Gears of War 1&2. If you move Shepard around, his shadow moves in a jittery, unpredictable manner, ignoring where the lightsource is supposedly positioned. And in some cases, a group of characters in close proximity drop shadows in all the wrong places it's so funny and inconsistent LOL.

Still a great game though, just not in the same league as U2 graphics...

I own a PS3/PC and I dont have an xbox360 so I had the oportunity to play Mass Effect 2 on my computer.

I tell you, this game is a huuuge contend to be not just the best RPG but the best game of 2010.

Both games are fantastic. I've completed UC2, and am currently playing ME2.

The only difference (if I were nitpicking) is that UC2 is a slightly more polished game and that ME2 is a little glitchy at times - but to say one is better than the other is pointless.

Video game journalism has a looong way to go before it becomes credible.

I`m fairly certain that both Uncharted 2 and Mass effect 2 are better in comparison to GTA IV within there respective genres.

But anyway on the argument at hand. Uncharted 2 is amazing, So is Mass Effect 2, Completely different genres with features that are not comparable. Uncharted 2 is very linear, but an excellent action movie-esqe shooter and deserves the accolade it received. Mass Effect 2 is an RPG Hybrid which spans many many hours and has multiple stories, endings and gameplay mechanics. A definate 2010 GOTY contender.

If you prefer Uncharted 2 or Mass Effect 2 why worry what a website says? Everyone has a different opinion on games etc, listen to your own but don't inflict opinions on people who hold differing views.

I find this site to be filled with the most uneducated hypocrites in the human race. First of all, he is responding to the comments that are being flooded on IGN from PS3 fanboys crying that they should not have given ME2 a higher score than UC2. I played UC2 several times and it is a great ride, but not nearly as engrossing as ME2.

This was the overall opinion, now as for mine, well I don't like RPG's so ME2 should suck. But it doesn't completely suck as I love FPS and one of my ATG games is Deus Ex, a FPS/RPG. Sadly ME2 doesn't come close to this game, it's a good game, but if you really want a great FPS/RPG play Deus Ex. The action in ME2 isn't the best and the game is a bit boring, because the dialogues are a little bit stretched out. Still a good game and much better than the first one, this game I couldn't even finish as it bored the sh1t out of me and the side missions were just a nightmare.

The game is suppose to involve in depth dialogue and you have the power to make it a longer convo or a short one. The game is just OVERALL better. It's hard to compare them due to different genres, but I am looking out character development, plot development, freedom to chose what direction and the demeanor you chose. I am looking at the overall picture of how free and open this game is and UC2 is much linear and A-B type of game. Like I said, it's hard to compare cause of genres, but bioware has created a masterpiece.

For a second here just think logically. Imagine UC2 with Gears or even worse, Halo 3 graphics, would people still be saying it was the best game ever? No. It didn't really bring anything new and innovative to the table, other than graphics. Mass Effect 2 has revolutionized the modern RPG into an exciting shooter/action/rpg experience. It has laid complete control of character development into the hands of the player. It has given the player multiple responses that affect parts of the story. It has done so much that UC2 hasn't. That is what I am looking at.

I LOVE mass effect 2, moreso than Uncharted 2. I can't stop playing it, I've sank way more hours into it than U2 (though that makes sense, given the nature of both games), it dominates my thoughts when I'm not playing in a way that Uncharted 2 never could, and it captivates me way more than Uncharted 2 ever did.

But objectively? I still feel, at least at this point, that Uncharted 2 is a better game. It's just constructed better. Everyone's still blown away by how good Mass Effect 2 is that it's hard to think clearly and on a more level plane. There hasn't been enough time to process it. After I beat ME2 (my first time) I immediately texted my friend telling him how it was the greatest game Bioware ever made and that he needs to get it now. He texted me back saying, "better than KOTOR?" I didn't have an answer for him, and I still don't. I haven't had enough time to process it, and I haven't had those multiple playthroughs to try to wrap my head around the game logic. Aside from the fact that U2 and ME2 are vastly different games, it's way too early for most of us to determine which is "better," which is why I say "at this point" I still feel U2 is the better game. What I can say for certain, though, is that some of these 2007 sequels are so good and have such vast improvements over the originals (Assassin's Creed 2, Uncharted 2, Mass Effect 2) that they make other 2007 follow-ups (ODST, COD6) look like expansion packs. Both games are f!cking fantastic, and that makes me feel like the gamers are the real winners here.

ME2 isn't a better game, it's a wanna-be RPG/TPS. ME2 is still a AAA title. I have my complaints about it, but it is still pretty damn good, and the experience is just as memorable as Uncharted 2. I absolutely loved UC2, but for me ME2 is definitely the better game. Still on my first playthrough at 32 hours. I'm sure I could've finished the main mission by now, but I'm having too much fun exploring the galaxy/characters and I want to find out everything before I head for the final battle. This thread's probably dead, but I can never understand why anyone could be an xbox fanboy at all, purely because of the frightening prospect of Microsoft owning the entire game.

Sony could be just as bad if the PS3 launch is any indication, but Microsoft is such a juggernaut that they just can just buy an industry and then neglect it. The 360 line-up is awesome, but I think that teet would dry up pretty darn fast if MS owned the world. It would be time for them to start milking instead of the other way around.

I cant say which is better as they are both very different game types. Its not like comparing it to Dragon Age or Fallout, its a totally different genre.

ME2 and U2 are both outstanding games in there own fields. If I had to decide which gave me the most enjoyment then thats a difficult question mainly because I havent finished ME2 yet but played the hell out of U2 and even platinumed it.

I like both games a lot. ME2 is the newer game so it has more affection at this point, which is why many people will make the unfounded claim of ME2 being "better".

How is ME2 better? ME2 has a great story, so does Uncharted2, both have top notch graphics, great gameplay, even though Uncharted2's gameplay is more fluid by design, but then again, you don't have to stop and talk to people throughout the game.

When I have the urge to play UC2 or ME2, it does not interfere with my urge to play the other. Naturally, if you've played and beaten UC2 and ME2 is new, then you will be drawn into playing ME2 naturally. The same would be true in reverse.

The comparsion is dumb, both of these games are Award-winners in their OWN categories. It is a no-brainer to play both of these games if you score the chance. Enjoying one does not snuff out the ability to enjoy the next.
