i wouldnt waste your time... everyone knows what these trolls are up to, they are probably just one little kid, whos mum cant afford a ps3... i wouldnt even bother with them mate seriously.

edit: the best way to piss him off is to just ignore him completely, do you notice that he drops 1 message then never posts again, no matter what people say, its cos he just sits back and gets off on all the comments about him... it really is pretty worrying behaviour but well i guess its his life.

W831SOLIDSNAKE5187d ago

Can't afford a PS3 huh? LOL

callahan095187d ago

Where are all these French sources coming from? Never seen any of these except like 2 of them. So many are coming out of the woodworks with Heavy Rain reviews. Weird.

ClownBelt5187d ago

I know right? Which are the ones that will be put on Meta?

Also, why the hell do they get to release their reviews first?

-Alpha5187d ago (Edited 5187d ago )

So many damn French websites.

It's like they popped out of nowhere overnight.

LordMarius5187d ago (Edited 5187d ago )

http://www.metacritic.com/a...

this site is not part of them

Shang-Long5187d ago

this is very true. but im not one of thos ppl :)

Sillyace925187d ago

Well the game is made by a french company, so I'd assume french publications would have more interest in it or something.

Rush5187d ago (Edited 5187d ago )

Most likely more to do with them giving French reviews a full review build of the game first. Which makes sense if they sent them out it will take a little longer for them to reach the people overseas.

@below
You can't call it not AAA just because 1 review gave it 85.... Most I have seen are 9-9.5. That's very respectable indeed although am going to wait for an English review. Since the French and the British have very different views on what's good and bad.

commodore645187d ago

heavy rain seems to be carrying the flag for french ps3 patriotism.
That would explain all the french reviews so far.

Anyway, 8.5/10 is a solid score.
This game seems a breath of fresh air, even if not AAA.

Max Power5187d ago

Are you under the impression that "AAA" status is determined by scores? Because that isn't the case, it is determined by the budget, scale, and amount of freedom a dev has.

heroprotagonist5187d ago

What, are you saying that any game with a huge budget is automatically a triple A game? Obviously not. Lair and Too Human had big budgets, but very few people would call them AAA.

Either it can be objectively quantified by reviews and sales, or it is a totally nebulous and subjective term that really means nothing. If it is just down to individual opinion we might as well not use the term, because my triple-A game might be your single-A game, or worse.

I always thought that it had to do with getting generally high review scores and generally high sales. Uncharted 2 is a AAA game. Mass Effect 2 is a AAA game. But games that don't score well or don't sell well are not considered AAA games.

To be clear, I am just discussing the term 'triple-A' and I am not drawing any conclusions about Heavy Rain. I think it will be a great game and I think we just need to wait and see how the overall critical and gamer reception turns out.

DMason5187d ago

The reason for all the French review is because the developing team is French. It's beginning to worry me that all reviews are French, seeing as theres an embargo on reviews for this game for another week and a half. This leads me to believe that they're trying to build some hype leading up to the release.

As far as Metacritic goes, 99% of these sites wont be on there.

we won5187d ago

LOL I was thinking that same thing from the sites I never heard of giving this game a nine and over.

FamilyGuy5187d ago

The breakdown is believable/real.

Killzonegamer845187d ago

"Gameplay that will not please everyone" LOL really.. So i guess this site thinks MW2 gameplay pleases everyone?

FreeFalling5187d ago (Edited 5187d ago )

Heavy Rain is a game whos genre has only been scratched on the surface, it's not as open to the mainstream market, so I can see why they would say that.

and yes, many people do like the gameplay of MW2. It attracts the masses actually, that's why it sold copies and copies, becoming a chart topping hit in sales and breaking all the records before it.

Parapraxis5187d ago (Edited 5187d ago )

A bit odd to deduct points for that IMO.
There is not one game ever made that appeals to everybody.
Maybe "Gameplay that will appeal to a more niche audience" would have made more sense.

@FreeFalling
"-facepalm-
They're talking about the tactical aspect of MAG."

...I'm pretty sure this is a Heavy Rain review LOL! Killzonegamer84 cited MW2 to make a point...which you clearly missed.

Madeline125187d ago (Edited 5187d ago )

Yes really that shows their bias for a determined style of game being the norm and pleasing everyone while others don't.
Who are they to say if a game pleases everyone or not anyway ? LOL

FreeFalling5187d ago

Oh boy, I feel like an idiot. I'm multitasking atm [playing Guitar Hero] and clicked this in the interim could've worn thinking it was MAG, and looked at the comments really quickly, read that one, played a song online, looked back at the comment and saw the MW2 reference, so I assumed.

Minus my bubbles please. :]

-Alpha5187d ago

Maybe he just posted it so people understood.

Reviews are meant to aid in a purchase of a game.

He must have liked the gameplay to rate the game so high.

I've seen many "10/10" reviews that had negative things to say, so I doubt he negated any points for it, considering he wasn't talking personally and just making a general claim.

Parapraxis5187d ago (Edited 5187d ago )

Why I'm getting disagrees is baffling, do people not realize I quoted FreeFalling's original post, which he later changed?

I mean really, it's basic language comprehension and logic people.

AKS5187d ago

@Killzonegamer84:

There isn't a single universal style of gameplay that everyone likes, especially for a game like Heavy Rain.

If a game strays from the most common, traditional setup, some may love it whereas others may not. Try out the beginning of Indigo Prophecy. That should tell you if you like this style of gameplay.

Please stop comparing video games to movies

"Many video games catch not only great commercial attention but remarkable critical attention as well. We have seen games like Heavy Rain, The Last of Us Part II, and even entries in the Metal Gear series described as fantastic interactive experiences, even heralded in the same way as Hollywood's greatest films.

I would suggest that not only is this an unfair comparison but also a harmful one. Video games, by their very nature, are an intricately different medium and should be weighed against one another rather than another form of media," Phillip writes for GF365.

Yes, please stop. They're better than most hollywood drivel nowadays.

BLAKHOODe1248d ago

I think Hollywood films will becoming increasingly more like video games in the future, especially as the world embraces the "new normal" from the pandemic. It makes sense, as games like Spider-Man: Miles Morales showcase just how realistically we're reaching in graphical capabilities, as well as showcase extreme action sequences in spectacular ways. And as time goes by, it'll get easier and cheaper to produce such "art", as well as create new star "actors" that never age, never die, never complain, never gets involved in scandals, etc. Technology is amazing and we're only just getting a taste of what it'll eventually be.

sourOG1248d ago

No. Some games are like movies.

medman1247d ago (Edited 1247d ago )

No. For the money spent, a quality game provides far more entertainment value than a quality movie. Especially when looking at what is going on in the world, and how a studio can attempt to pilfer from consumers by charging 30 dollars for Mulan via streaming. Ridiculous. There is no comparison....games all day.

Have you played Detroit? While it’s my personal favorite, I fully understand many preferring Heavy Rain more. I’m glad you enjoyed Heavy Rain too.

bouzebbal1405d ago

def. one of my top 3 best experiences on PS3

ClayRules20121405d ago

bouzebbal

That’s awesome to hear! What’re the other 2 best experiences?

akaFullMetal1405d ago

Great game, need to get started on Detroit soon.

ClayRules20121405d ago

Glad you enjoyed the game! Yes, Detroit is a masterpiece of a game, and their best work to date “in my opinion”

ClayRules20121405d ago

Wow, 10 years...and yet, still one of the best/most emotional/thrilling gaming experiences I’ve ever had.

So grateful to Sony for believing in Quantic Dream’s vision for this game, and giving them a chance. I’ll never forget David Cage saying “We want to challenge the player, but not with the controller, but mentally, with their decisions of “How far would you go to save someone you love” Well, they broke my emotional gamer heart lol.

My teenage son refuses to play this game, because I’ve told him in little detail the emotional impact it had on me all those years ago. Maybe one day he will.

Still have my origami crane they teach you how to make when you're installing for the first time.

it's been 10 years? wow, that was so fast, I feel like this console gen went fast as well although it hasn't. I really look forward to the PS5 this holiday season though.
