Worse yet, its selling more - by a hair - on the console that has the "crappy" port.

vhero5204d ago (Edited 5204d ago )

The list is bang on fanboys won't like it but it's absolutely 100% right. As for Bayonetta its selling 20% more on PS3 surprisingly showing again that 360 users are not interested in non shooters/FPS games.

WildArmed5204d ago

lol but but but Bayonetta sends Ninja Gaiden, God Of War, Devil May Cry back to the drawing board D:

The hype was unbelievable for that game.
As good as it is, the hype killed the game imo. (rented it, and played about 40mins into it and couldn't play it anymore)

The article takes stabs in the right direction: Haze, Too human, Lair.
People are bent on making games like Mass Effect and Metal Gear Solid 4 to be over hyped (which I dont agree with), that they forget the true examples like those three.

Megaton5204d ago

I'm not one to play sales, particularly because some of my all-time favorites were sales flops of biblical proportions, but yeah, it is pretty funny that Bayonetta is selling better on the console with the crap port. Reinforces the old notion that the only games that sell like wildfire on the 360 are shooters.

Nihilism5204d ago

"rented it, and played about 40mins into it and couldn't play it anymore"

If it was that bad then it sounds like the game was to blame, not the hype.

reintype5204d ago (Edited 5204d ago )

No game got more "hype" than this one, how can the author miss the most obvious one?

As for Bayonetta, only fanboy reviewers with agendas, would give this one with an inflated score. While most games get penalized for their stories, this one gets a pass for its nonsensical one. And let's not forget, the lazy cut scenes, sprinkled through out the game. While some games are labeled as movies, I don't understand why this one is not mentioned as a "Slide Show"? How about, being a copy of another game, did they missed that one too? Every review of Darksiders, makes mention of it being a clone of other games, and was put down because of it, and yet this one gets praised?

Double Standards and Biases, rearing their ugly heads once again.

goflyakite5204d ago

Yea MW2 is a huge one. Definitely should be on that list.

Bayonetta

"With shameless sex appeal, cheesy cut-scenes typical of the genre and some dumb concepts (she does a handstand and shoots using her feet for Pete's sake!), Bayonetta is the kind of game that does nothing to push the medium forward."

When you actually play the title you beguine to think less and less how ironic everything is. when i first played bayonetta i had lots of questions about it. particularly about her guns on her feet and fact that there's no finger to pull the trigger. later on it hit's you that she's using her witch powers to manipulate each gun.....you wouldn't know any of that if you haven't played the game.

Honestly i had lot lots of other questions about other games too, DMC4 for instance. Nero wields a sword that with a twist of his handle he can make it sound like a motorcycle, with having no trace of an engine on it. it should be clear why people love these titles so.

Games like Tekken, DMC, Ninja Gainden, DOA, and street fighter weren't made for their complex stories or how or why they do the things they do.

All of these games have female characters the were made with massive sex appeal. it's clear that none of these games were made with a female's true touch....especially Ninja gaiden. all of these games were made so that enjoy immersing your self into it's game play and their arcade style, and that's what people have been saying about this particular title. (if you read the reviews.)

Gigalol5204d ago

killzone 2, Uncharted 2, God of war 3, Gran Turismo 5. FAIL. FAIL and another FAIL.

AH, Playstation 3 hardware FAILUREA RATE surpasses xbox 360 ( 1%) PS3 = 33.3%

FAIL!!

WildArmed5204d ago

lol
after reading that, the word 'fail' has become synonymous to your name 'Gigalol'

and if you don't quite get it:
Trust me, you don't want that.

awesomeperson5204d ago

Although i do find it strange how unreleased games can already fail, and you've got your failiure percentage rates mixed up mate. But your name fits, Giga lol...

Nihilism5204d ago

Why hello there thetruth2009, still paranoid as always, keep fighting the good fight, we're all real proud of you ;), your amount of bubbles reflects the level with which we relate to your well thought out unbiased and thought provoking posts.

ATi_Elite5203d ago

I'm sorry did I miss the full page story that should be Modern warfare 2

as the most over hyped and under achieving game since E.T. (well not that bad)

I swear there was a channel rolling 24/7 of Mw2 commercials.

MW2 was the poster boy for Hype

Foxgod5204d ago

Bayonetta is actually under appreciated.

SnukaTheMan5204d ago

You mean when there are big difference between consoles...there is more coverage of it...too bad we got people pointing out that instead of hype.

Looking Back At 2008, An Unbelievably Incredible Year Of Video Game Releases

Huzaifa from eXputer: "2008 was home to the likes of Call of Duty: World at War, Dead Space, GTA 4, Far Cry 2, Left 4 Dead, and many other hits, which is outright remarkable."

CrimsonWing695h ago

I don’t think anything can compare to 2023

lucasnooker4h ago

1998 - the best year in gaming! Metal gear solid, crash bandicoot 3, medievil, half life, ocarina of time, thief, tenchu, resident evil 2, Spyro, tomb raider 3, oddworld abes exodus, banjo kazooie.

It was a different breed of a gaming era. You’ll never understand what it was like back then. The aura of gaming, it was different!

KyRo4h ago(Edited 4h ago)

I second this. Gaming was a lot more varied and fun than it is today. I'm 35 so getting on compared to some here but I got to see all the changes from NES up to now but I've never felt so disappointed in any generation than I have this current gen. I was expecting more from this generation rather than prettier versions of games that came before it. Game mechanics have become so refined that alot of games feel the same and has done for a while now.

Maybe it's time to have a break for a while. I love gaming but I don't feel I get much fun in the traditional sense out of it anymore.

CrimsonWing694h ago(Edited 4h ago)

Metal Gear Solid, Resident Evil 2, Abe’s Exodus, and Ocarina of Time are the only things from that list that I liked.

Here’s the 2023 game releases that I personally liked… and big releases that I didn’t care for:

- Dead Space Remake
- Wo Long Dynatsy
- Resident Evil 4 Remake
- Diablo 4
- Fire Emblem Engage
- Hogwarts Legcay
- Street Fighter 6
- Hi-Fi Rush
- Like a Dragon: Ishin
- Octopath Traveler 2
- Final Fantasy Pixel Remasters
- Final Fanatsy XVI (actually ended up not liking this, but it was still a big deal release)
- Baldur’s Gate 3
- Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon
- Lies of P
- Mortal Kombat 1
- Marvel’s Spider-Man 2
- Starfield (Ended up hating this one, but big release)
- Super Mario Bros. Wonder
- Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom (I’m an old-school Zelda fan, but didn’t really enjoy this game)
- Alan Wake 2

I mean, honestly I’ve never seen a year of major IP releases like that, ever.

Profchaos1h ago(Edited 1h ago)

Isn't it just a generational thing realistically.

I've been gaming since way back and I some of my favourite games go as far back as the late 80s for me each generation has a year or two of game changing releases one after another before an inevitable dry spell.

I kind of agree gaming had a different feel games hit different because we didn't have the internet nothing got spoiled and you really had to put in the effort to beat a puzzle which could set entire groups of people looking for a solution. But most importantly games were experimental and not as cookie cutter as today even basics like controls were not universal today r2 is shoot l2 is ads garunteed you can't deviate from that in a shooter back then it could of been square, R1 or R1 and circle nothing was standard.

But as time moves on a new generation picks up their controller they are going to be interested in different things that PS1 demo disc with the t Rex blew our primitive 16 bit brains back on launch but to kids today it's laughable.
The new gen of kids coming into to hobby seem to value different things to us there seems to be a huge focus on online play, streamers, gaming personalities, and social experiences, convience of digital downloads. To me I value none of that but that's ok like my parents not liking the band's I would listen to its just the natural cycle.

PlayStation 3 Games That Desperately Need a PS5 Remaster

The PlayStation 3 may not have been the strongest generation for Sony, but there were still some diamonds in the rough that deserve a revisit as PS5 remasters.

Even if they could just remaster and put on PSVR2, some would still look great as VR titles and could do a whole lot to bolster the headset w these exclusives! I'd imagine the investment of reworking these titles into VR would be way less than building new games from the ground up, and they could be amazing experiences, and VR often makes flat games feel fresh again. The Resistance and Killzone games are particularly what I want to see!!

Rude-ro47d ago

I played killzone 3 in 3d and it really changed the game per being immersive.
In vr, that would be even more awesome.

darthv7247d ago

Funny you mention that... my son wanted to play some PS3 games in 3d on my PS tv and he was blown away by how good KZ3 was. It really was a great addition to the game. Im surprised there have not been more 3d games from that era being ported to the PSVR/VR2.

_SilverHawk_47d ago

resistance 1-3, killzone 1-3, uncharted 1-3, uncharted golden abyss, folklore, socom 4 , motorstorm, twisted metal, MAG, heavenly sword

Cacabunga47d ago

Killzone 2+3
Sly Thieves in Time
Crack in Time
God of War Ascension
Motorstorm
Modnation racer
Infamous 1+2

Profchaos47d ago (Edited 47d ago )

Killzone trilogy in VR would be amazing bonus points if they offer shadow fall.

There was a psvr1 Killzone project that supermassive was working on at one stage which wasn't up to scratch and Sony brand it back in house I was hoping we would see that on psvr2 eventually.

Personally I'd love to see some more love or acknowledgement of psvr2 from Sony in general it was a expensive headset and Sony barely acknowledge it's existence

seanpitt2347d ago

The amount of work needed to remaster these games wouldn't be beneficial on a financial and business sense.. MGS4 would probably be the best bet as it would need the least amount of work!

Iceball200048d ago

YEAAASSSSS! I miss this franchise and wanna play it so bad again.

Father__Merrin48d ago

The time is perfect for a resistance fall of man game campaign coop multiplayer

InUrFoxHole47d ago

The resistance series is str8 trash to me. Socom 3 I would welcome. Or killzone MP.

Marcus Fenix48d ago

A Resistance reboot will be awesome

Michiel198947d ago

That's what Bungie should make, Ill keep saying it until it happens

1Victor47d ago (Edited 47d ago )

Resistance was ok but Warhawk and Starhawk was better and kept me coming back for almost a decade of fun and petty revenge on the loud mouth unskilled players 🤣
Edit I loved capture the flag dropping the pot on the flag carrier was extremely satisfying as well as transforming your plane in bot form and stumping them to death 😱

47d ago
Michiel198947d ago

Resistance was the best co-op fps I ever played after L4D2
