The cast of Metal Gear Solid: The Movie

GamerZines: It's looking less and less likely that we'll see Hideo Kojima's most famous franchise make the transition to the big screen. Even though this news is probably a blessing in disguise, we can't help but throw in our two cents and formulate our own fantasy cast list for the big screen adaptation of the original Metal Gear Solid.

Butler as Snake?? Hahhaha, yeah the dude got Fat. He doesn't even look like Snake.

Here's your Butler

Right there... That's your buddy.

& here's my pick for Snake...

= Perfection for the role.

That is a perfect Snake. He's a brilliant Actor and he looks just like the dude and he's actually in shape and is a fitness trainer to boot. Trevor St. John is the man to play this character. He's the best actor working in the industry today. He works hard and he's multi versed.

hay5211d ago

Which part of this guy looks like a Snake? You've fallen in love with him or what?

I admit, Butler with a bit of Hollywood magic would do decent Snake. http://media.photobucket.co...

But we don't need decent Snake. We need great Snake.

Milla? She's average actor, doesn't quite fit in the role IMO. Dunno who'd fit.

David Wenham as Liquid?... Bruce Payne would be good with his acting, accent and... Hollywood Magic.

Ray Parks? I don't know... Gordon Chan raped Rugal using him in KoF movie.

Ed Harris as Campbell? I like this guy, but I hardly see him as this role. Richard Crenna would be awesome in his younger days.

nogolis5211d ago

You are absolutley dellusional if you think Trevor St John doesn't look like Snake. More so if you think Butler looks more like him. Absurd. The Hollywood media glazed your donuts, dude. You're so feeble minded now you'll believe in anyone Hollywood sells you. You probably also think Justin Long is funny and probably think The Hangover was cleverly written. Right?

WildArmed5211d ago

umm imma have to go with hay on this one.
That guy doesn't look like snake at all -.-
Other then the fact that they are both guys i guess.

hay5210d ago

@nogolis: It's all cool and fancy mate but there's a hole in your theory. I don't give a sh*t about Hollywood and prefer asian movies.

I just used assets provided by you, found in the story and in the classics of the 80s to make my own opinion.

And no, Hangover was awfully boring and predictable, which goes to the point one. I prefer asian movies.

It's ok man to fall in love in someone famous, don't be so agressive, we all fell in love with someone famous in our younger days. Nothing to be ashamed of.

Are you in love with the guy? He's never been the star of a movie (only playing a non-"movie guy 2" role a couple of times) and the only thing he would be known for is his role in a daytime soap (looked it up). I would hardly consider anyone who's only major performance is a soap opera "the best actor working in the industry." All that is pointless though, since he doesn't look like snake.

Gerard Butler might be able to get the look right, but I've never seen him act in a movie that would lead me to believe he could nail the role of Snake. I'm not sure anyone can, and to avoid screwing up what I consider the best video game character ever, I would prefer they not make the movie at all (because whoever plays the role will NOT be perfect, even if they used Hayter (wouldn't look the part)).

joydestroy5210d ago (Edited 5210d ago )

nah i disagree on Butler. but the rest are dead on.

oh, and Butler was the man in RocknRolla. go rent that flick if you haven't seen it.

FOXDIE5210d ago

How can you cast a Metal Gear Solid movie without mentioning Otacon. He has got to be the second or third most important character....Yeah, third.

1. Snake
2. Ocelot
3. Otacon

P.S.

The same person should play both Liquid and Solid.

lh_swe5210d ago

IGN just broke the news of this movie being scrapped

FantasyStar5210d ago

I'm not surprised. The voice of Snake is more important than what he looks like, I think.

lh_swe5210d ago

In essence anyways, because so many things that make MGS what it is, well that is due to Hideo and the Konami Story board and whomever the director was felt he didn't do it justice.

FantasyStar5210d ago

word. I don't think there needs to be a movie anyways. Most MGS games are like movies themselves.

I’d have taken a few of those out. Prefer Sonic over Sonic 2. Outrun should be in there. Maybe even Pong as millions of people had fun with that even if it was repetitive. Final Fight pipped any Streets of Rage game, although Streets of Rage had the better soundtrack. Too many to list l guess. To me, retro gaming is the 1980s, maybe going into early 1990s.

Agree that the generational gap is too broad to really make a strong list. Need to tighten the years a bit. Hard to compare Pac Man with N64 games.

Even if they could just remaster and put on PSVR2, some would still look great as VR titles and could do a whole lot to bolster the headset w these exclusives! I'd imagine the investment of reworking these titles into VR would be way less than building new games from the ground up, and they could be amazing experiences, and VR often makes flat games feel fresh again. The Resistance and Killzone games are particularly what I want to see!!

Rude-ro41d ago

I played killzone 3 in 3d and it really changed the game per being immersive.
In vr, that would be even more awesome.

darthv7241d ago

Funny you mention that... my son wanted to play some PS3 games in 3d on my PS tv and he was blown away by how good KZ3 was. It really was a great addition to the game. Im surprised there have not been more 3d games from that era being ported to the PSVR/VR2.

_SilverHawk_41d ago

resistance 1-3, killzone 1-3, uncharted 1-3, uncharted golden abyss, folklore, socom 4 , motorstorm, twisted metal, MAG, heavenly sword

Killzone 2+3
Sly Thieves in Time
Crack in Time
God of War Ascension
Motorstorm
Modnation racer
Infamous 1+2

Profchaos41d ago (Edited 41d ago )

Killzone trilogy in VR would be amazing bonus points if they offer shadow fall.

There was a psvr1 Killzone project that supermassive was working on at one stage which wasn't up to scratch and Sony brand it back in house I was hoping we would see that on psvr2 eventually.

Personally I'd love to see some more love or acknowledgement of psvr2 from Sony in general it was a expensive headset and Sony barely acknowledge it's existence

seanpitt2341d ago

The amount of work needed to remaster these games wouldn't be beneficial on a financial and business sense.. MGS4 would probably be the best bet as it would need the least amount of work!

Iceball200041d ago

YEAAASSSSS! I miss this franchise and wanna play it so bad again.

Father__Merrin41d ago

The time is perfect for a resistance fall of man game campaign coop multiplayer

InUrFoxHole41d ago

The resistance series is str8 trash to me. Socom 3 I would welcome. Or killzone MP.

Marcus Fenix41d ago

A Resistance reboot will be awesome

Michiel198941d ago

That's what Bungie should make, Ill keep saying it until it happens

1Victor41d ago (Edited 41d ago )

Resistance was ok but Warhawk and Starhawk was better and kept me coming back for almost a decade of fun and petty revenge on the loud mouth unskilled players 🤣
Edit I loved capture the flag dropping the pot on the flag carrier was extremely satisfying as well as transforming your plane in bot form and stumping them to death 😱

Michiel198941d ago

Resistance was the best co-op fps I ever played after L4D2
