League of Legends is a cooperative game in which players must communicate effectively in order to defeat another team of champions. While some players will get on Vent together, it is much more likely that they will be communicating via text in the chat box. Understanding the terms will help all players be more effective in defeating opponents, and players of the game have developed a LoL shorthand of sorts. In order to work effectively with the team, players need to know the general basics of how long-time players communicate."

I just started playing this game a few weeks ago and I am absolutely loving it. There is no reason to play badly balanced PvP games like WAR when awesome stuff like League of Legends is out there.
There was a new patch today that added another new hero and some new skins. Good stuff.
Heroes of Newerth is the way to go.
Newerth > DotA > LoL > Demigod
No offense to the source material, but Newerth has easily outclassed DotA. The only thing Newerth needs now is to duplicate some of the remaining heroes from DotA and it'll be a winner.
I can't help being a newbie when I start playing a new game. Getting a glossary for in game terms helps me make an appropriate reaction, not being obnoxious begging for explanations when the team is trying to finalize a plan. I'm less timid knowing the right reaction, not acting the dumb newbie who is constantly jumping into things they shouldn't. I wish more games had glossaries for the game shorthand- it cuts the learning curve a lot and I'm more likely to stick with the game long enough to find out if I really will enjoy it. I like not being in the language dark.
