Modern Warfare 2 is Out, Bad Company 2 is In

Pixel Enemy: Modern Warfare 2 has been in the hands of the gaming masses for a few days and already gamers are looking to get their next FPS fix. With no dedicated servers on the PC, PS3 servers crashing, and some calling the game a $60 DLC pack, it seems Infinity Ward might have dropped the ball with MW2. Fear not, because for once it looks like EA (yes, that EA) is coming to the rescue with Battlefield: Bad Company 2.

How did they drop the ball? Last time I checked it sold 4.7 million copies in ONE DAY!! Before it even came out everyone was like "oh we're not buying this and doing this" because you guys developed some hatred towards it for some reason, but in the end those haters didn't even make a so much much as a dent not even a scratch. BF BC2 looks good but it will never be as big as MW2 get over it.

but as for myself, im stuck with the dilemma of whether or not i should even get mw2...cause i already plan to stop playing mw2 once bc2 or the halo: reach beta comes out (which ever one comes out first), so should i even get the game, if i plan to play it for only about 3-4 months...on the other hand, i doubt any of my friends are getting bc2 either...so the dilemma is buy mw2 and play with friends (for awhile) or skip out and wait for bc2 and play with random ppl (for awhile, cause im looking forward to reach beta alot)

Bad Company is a great game as is MW1 But, I wouldn't call the Battlefield series some sort of failure, The series has been around for a long time and is quite innovative. As opposed to IW, Dice actually incorporates great advances to the FPS genre. Granted, IW has improved from MW1 to 2 but, not as greatly as DICE has.

And, frankly, sales of MW2 don't prove that the game is better.

Personally, I feel that MW2 is too dry and takes itself to seriously...for a game.

Im sure MW2 is a bamf of its own but i loved the 1st Bad Company it was just amazing. The storyline was funny and fun too for a Battlefield game, and the Multiplayer is alright. It could be tons better and i think they hit the nail with it on BC2.

I am freaking excited for this game, its going to be awesome. The graphics are a lot better than i expected and with all that destructible environments. Cant wait, bring it on!

Question though, does this take place after the first game? or is it a sequel that has nothing to do with the 1st. I just hope its the same characters in it lol

BF:BC2 dosnt look to disimilar to BF:BC. I thought the first game was really good (MP, SP was rubbish), but people seem to be tossing themselves off in a fury over the new one, but from the REAL gameplay vids it dont look too different than the first?????

Yeah, so far they haven't showed jack as far as new weapons (a couple of new vehicles, but nothing amazing).

But with so much time until release, it makes sense that they aren't really showing much yet, even with the beta around the bend.

I hope they have a WIDE variety of weapons. One thing that is good about Call of Duty games is that they have a wide arsenal of weapons. The battlefield series as I know it has lesser, standard issue weaponry.

It would only be a good thing if BC2 did something similar. Historically Battlefield games have had pretty weak customization features and weapon choices, forcing everyone to play with cookie-cutter characters.

But yes, Infinity Ward dropped the ball. They screwed their hardcore fan base where the series actually began and didn't bother to have a beta or demo that could have easily identified issues with the PS3 version before launch.

But they didn't have a demo or a beta because it would have been a bitter taste of dissapointment left in many people's mouths and the game wouldn't have sold as well.

Don't get me wrong, I own MW2 and I'm really enjoying it. But unfortunately it doesn't do that much different compared to the first one. However after spending some time with Battlefield 1943 and seeing the footage just from the beta build, I think BF:BC2 is shaping up to be a real contender.

Their hardcore fanbase, where the series began, screwed THEM FIRST through rampant piracy. The PC community has pissed all over IW for years by doing this. Half the people complaining about MW2 have probably never paid for a copy of CoD in their lives.

I am one of those original PC CoD players (back to the original), and I wouldn't blame IW for dropping the PC altogether. The PC community has sadly become overrun by self-entitled hypocrites.

Well, from the videos alone I can tell the controls and "handling" are the same, so that eliminates about 3 million noobs right off the bat.

Throw in vehicles and destruction, not to mention objectives, and you lose another 1 million noobs who can't handle that much going on and simply want to shoot stuff.

Well, SpecOps might pull me in. I like co-op modes more then competitive modes. I started beating UC2's arena modes, lately - and got hooked now.

But BF was my favorite objective game. Until KZ2 came along, that is. BF2 is a fresh breeze. Can't wait for that game.

I really dont think IW cares. I bet they are not doing another COD and will pursue another venture again using the same Game Engine but adding further wrap around "dlc" as the maps.

I've played the Battlefield series and all its add-ons since the first one on the PC but something in Bad Company just didn't click with me in multiplay like CoD4 did. CoD4 drew me in and I played it regularly even after CoD:W@W came along but only ever occasionally dipped in and out of B:BC. I'm playing MW2 now but really excited to see what B:BC2 brings.

bfbc was a big f u to bf fans tbh. it was still an enjoyable game however:

- bf has always been a pc franchise but they didn't release bfbc on pc
- no conquest for launch, the game mode that basically makes bf!
- no support for private rooms
- could not play with more than 3 other friends
- tried to make a single player campaign when really all focus needed to be on online

when i hear ppl whine about how mw2 is 'screwing the fans' and 'bfbc is where it's at' i wonder if they even played a bf game before bfbc!

regardless bfbc2 is shaping up to be a great sequel and it looks like they are actually fixing a lot of the problems that were present in bfbc. Just frustrating reading some people blind fanboy comments on this site.

i've never got this comparison at all.

the only similarities are that they are fps and set in the present.

mw2 = infantry focused fast paced fps
bfbc2 = vehicle and large scale battles fps

why can't people enjoy both games?? especially when bfbc2 isn't out untill march! since i can't play bfbc2 now i'll be playing mw2 and popping on the bfbc2 beta every so often.

DICE admitted that they had a little difficult time developing for the consoles with BFBC1. This time around is going to be different from the developer interviews/trailers shown so far.
Being able to take out entire building structures !!!! or shooting a sizable piece of a wall for cover-fire!!!!. Amazing.
I just wished DICE would revamp atleast some of the previous BF franchise maps (PC) to console, even as a "classic map pac DLC'. I would love to play a strike at kirkand or warlord map with their engine physics.

MW2 sales are incredible, and many gamers, who tend to be 360 but perhaps Im being too general, will scream that this is the best gave evar! In general, and again just a vauge observation, ps3 owners demand higher quality in a game then just a game "being fun". Reviewers, unfortunately, hold the ps3 to that same standard of quality, while the 360 can just get away with being "fun".

Too many gamers, especially the 17-21 year olds, sales are all that matters.

There are some absolutely fantastic games that just don't sell that many copies. Damn shame really.

In lots of cases, unless the first game was just garbage, part 2 usually won't be a big departure from the first game. Sequels are normally more of the same, but with a few additions and slight improvements.

A Crack in Time is more of the same, with very few additions or improvements to the overall formula. It was good then, why change it? Give the fans more of what they want.

Halo 3 wasn't a huge change over Halo 2. Most people that had Halo 2 liked it, so why change things dramatically for Halo 3?

Uncharted 2 upped the presentation a bit, but they added in some co-op and some OK (imo) multiplayer. At its heart, the game doesn't do a whole lot different from Uncharted 1 and other 3rd person shooters. But its still a very good game. The core formula didn't need a lot of changes.

Seriously though, when it comes to shooters, there is only so much different you can do with a 1st person shooter besides adding a few different modes or options. I don't know what people were expecting out of Modern Warfare 2 other than more of what people really enjoyed in the first place.

I really think that people are really starting to hate on the game because its becoming really popular (like Halo popular). This is what tends to happen when games get this big. That start being called "overated" and "average." But people buy them year after year because they love them.

MW2 is definitely not sniper friendly, with the kill cam and helicopter that spots out all your targets for you plus the aim assist that lets anyone with an automatic weapon become a sniper+sniper killer it's ridiculous. I always enjoyed playing as a sniper in BFBC and always enjoyed the thrill of hunting other snipers. Can't wait for BF:BC2!

Is fun but it can ruin a game.

In games with large maps and good view point you always find noobs hiding in hard to see places picking everyone off. It just ruines the game for thos of us who dont like to camp.

The killcam is great though as it forces the snipers to play properly. A real sniper shoots, and then moves to a new position. And it also keeps the campers down.

I had a sniper kill me and so for laughs I killed him/her with a grenade launcher from a huge distance on thats map woth the plane.

Im sure that the grenade launcher is really easy to use this time. In COD4 I never bothered with it but in this game I love it to bits for clearing out choke points. Plus its great when you hit a building and glass goes everywhere.

AS MUCH AS PEOPLE SAY THAT HATED TRANSFORMERS 2 (AND YEA..IT SUCKED BALLS!!) THE MOVIE MADE $800 MILLION IS THE THEATERS. They did get my money, BUT...I complained for a discount to another movie.....The Hangover. (THE REAL SUMMER BLOCKBUSTER!)

Anyway, Modern Warfare 2 is selling like hotcakes, but the thing is....THIS GAME IS SICK! I don't get gamers sometime, with all the crying and whining about reviews. These are just guides to help people decide which games to buy. Are the graphics as good as UC2 or Killzone 2...it's agrumentitive, BUT that does not mean that the game does not look and play incredible. The action in the 2 MW games are much better than damn near every other console shooter to date. (Get over it!) I am not a 360 fan, but Gears of War 1 and Halo 3 were outstanding games. As for Battlefield: Bad Company 2....the 1st Bad Company was sick! (People really slept on both BC and Dead Space!!) I saw the footage on GT, and I will buy this game also. This is why I don't have a 360, I can play games that EASILY takes the place of Halo, Gears, and Mass EFFECT 2.

Why did I buy into all the hype about cod4? For so long, I heard how it was such an amazing game...Like frothing at the mouth type praises. I'm not the biggest FPS player, not unless it offers something new & fresh(KZ2). So in Feb, I go to pick up my KZ2 and I say "What the hey?" and pick up the fabled cod4 as well.

What a mistake that was.

Game looks good, but never for a moment felt good. I've had the game since Feb, and I have not been able to stomach the overall feel of the game enough to get passed the second level.

To each his own, but I'll wait for the superior titles to come out. I know that plenty of you will have a blast with it, but for me it a "meh".

And completely destroying buildings in Bad Company 1? You could take out the walls but it was far from complete destruction, which is one of the selling points of Bad Company 2.

Then again, a lot of people thought the same thing about the first Bad Company and it didn't work out that way, did it? This will be no different. I played BC for 2 weeks and traded it in without even finishing the campaign. Unless the new BC game gets AMAZING reviews, I'm only renting it.
