Bioware: "We would love to revisit Jade Empire"

In an interview with Strategy Informer, Lead Designer of Dragon Age: Origins, Mike Laidlaw, said that Jade Empires is a favourite among the staff of Bioware and that the firm would love to revisit the franchise.

"we will certainly announce it if it's going to be coming out. At this point, Jade Empire is a staff favourite and a lot of us love it, so we'd love to revisit it at some point. But right now, we are very focused on Dragon Age and Mass Effect 2." said Laidlaw.

What and awesome game the first was lets hope they do bring this 2nd one out...

GWAVE5305d ago

I'll just put this out there:

Jade Empire was their best RPG on the Xbox. Yeah, KotOR 1 and 2 were cool, but Jade Empire was a completely new universe with a great story and several awesome plot twists.

KOTOR 2 was done by obsidian...

dachiefsman5305d ago

i would love another jade empire...just do one thing...improve the combat.

I liked JE, but didn't get into it much. I think it was because it felt too much like JE: KOTOR. And I actually felt that Obsidian were more progressive with KOTOR 2 than Bioware with JE. Although nothing beat getting the *ahem* menage romance plot. Did not expect that my first time through.

Sure, I'd play another JE.

Yi-Long5305d ago

... and I also like adventure RPG's and such, but somehow I just never really got into Jade Empire.

The fighting was boring to me, and the voice-acting I felt was mediocre at best.

It wasn't a bad game by any means. It just wasn't anything special either. And I felt it was all a bit too lineair.

(I DID like KOTOR btw, despite not being a sci-fi/star wars fan)

I loved Jade Empire. There were so many different ways to play it I probably played it 10 times. To this day my two all time favorite videogame character names are still "Sir Roderick Ponce Von Fontlebottom the Magnificent Bastard" and "Egregious Provaricator, respected scholar and grower of pipe weed". I don't know why it's so frequently skipped over when people list Bioware's great games.

Bazookajoe_835305d ago

They could just improve the graphics and release it to nextgen consoles/pc and i would easiley buy it.

Kal8535305d ago

I totally agree with you. The weirdest part is that I actually think the graphics from Jade Empire are better, or at least more aesthetically pleasing, than what I've seen from Dragon Age. But I'm still gonna buy it.

The game is already on Games on Demand and holds up pretty nicely even today.

BioWare, Where Is Jade Empire 2?

GB: "It does seem that with BioWare being in the spot that they are, where their last two major releases haven’t exactly lived up to expectations, perhaps a big shift in direction is just what the doctor ordered to inject themselves with a new surge of energy and start to turn the page just in time for the new decade. It’s tough to say at this point, but with the Jade Empire trademark being suspended as of April of last year, I wouldn’t suggest anybody start holding their breath for anything major for this game just yet."

It's dead, just like BioWare. Dead.

FallenAngel19841511d ago

You should be asking where their talent went first

Spoilers most of them left the company already

thatguyhayat1511d ago

They've addressed this before, Microsoft owns the IP and its upto them but its better to leave it then make a sequel. The OGs have a new studio and are working on a Sci-Fi game for next gen

AK911511d ago

What new studio are you referring to? I'm out of the loop about this.

Knightofelemia1511d ago (Edited 1511d ago )

They're to busy trying to keep Anthem alive and I doubt EA will fire up an old ip. And on top of that if they did make the game it will probably be as bad as ME Andromeda since most of the talent is gone now leave it to EA to wreck a good company.

starchild1511d ago

ME Andromeda was disappointing, but it was still a pretty good game, IMO. I would rather get another Jade Empire, even if it's only that good, rather than not get another one at all.

TheColbertinator1511d ago

The first question is Where is Bioware?
