the humor in this game can at many times feel forced. As if the game is a comedy more so than a game.

Whereas UC2's comedy delivers in its subtlety. I kno no 1 is comparing but im just making a point. Uncharted 1/2 is way funnier than this game thats "supposed" to be funny.

Pre ordered Fallout 3: Game Of The Year Edition for 360, GTA: The Episodes From Liberty City for October. I was thinking about buying Brütal Legend but then learnt that Windows 7 is also coming out October 31 st in our country. So I just postphoned buying it. Can't buy it on November because of Modern Warfare 2 and Left 4 Dead 2. I won't have any money to buy any games till January probably. But between January and March there's also Assassin's Creed 2, Splinter Cell: Conviction and most importantly (for me) Aliens Versus Predator coming out. So I'm pretty much f...ed...

This is Tim Shafer we're talking about here and you cannot judge this man's games on surface value as he, to my recollection, has never put out a visually impressive game beyond the art style. Brutal Legend appears to be any metal head's wet dream and has a solid contribution from some of the greatest icons of the music biz.

Still, with that said, I have no urgency to buy it as I have way too much on my plate already, but anyone familiar with Shafer's previous work can expect a great story set on the foundation of a good game.

... Ive been playing the game for the past few hours. Just beat the Spider Queen to give the bass strings to the KillMaster (Lenny). I have to say that the game is good. The graphics are good for a sandbox type of game (yes a sandbox...surprised?) and the music is awesome. For anyone who doesnt like Heavy Metal the game may be average. For all the metal lovers like me...they will ignore the problems in the game just to listen to the music and complete the story. The game really needed a map thanks to its sandbox nature you have to keep pausing it to see the full map and where you must go next. The controls are choppy and the graphics have lots of pop up in the background.

At least the game Heavy Metal theme is genious, fun and looks rigth on. I was specting a more linear adventure, not a sandbox type so if you didnt like the driving section of the demo dont expect much. Also I have the game on 360 and also has the demo on PS3. After all the graphics comparisons I saw I needed to compare it myself and I have to say that the game is identical on both consoles. More vibrant on the PS3 contrary to what I saw in some gaming sites, but they have more screen tearing than the 360 version. Texture wise is the same and the PS3 version is more alliased. The anti alliasing used on the 360 version for some reason makes it darker and have the vaseline effect that everyone dislikes on the PS3. That said I dont expect more than an 8.5 avg on Meta. We will wait and see the "proffesionals" reviews. A good entretaining until Uncharted 2 arrives. A good game that any fan of Metal shouldnt miss.

Back on topic, I'm surprised this game got a 9. When you compare it to other games that recieve 9's, Brutal Legend looks more like a rental than a game that is very memorable. I was going to give it a spin but Uncharted 2, Demons Souls, Ratchet & Clank ACIT, Modern Warfare 2, Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2, and Dragons Age : Origins are on my list above Brutal Legend. Maybe I'll put it on my X-Mas list or it will come down in price down the road.

I played the demo, and I liked it. This game is a buy for me, but would have been way better if it came out other month. I just bought, NGS2, Demon's Souls, Pre-ordered Uncharted 2 and Ratchet and Clank ACIT, then next month is Assassin's Creed 2 and MW2, so maybe by christmas or early next year.

Based on the demo, I would rate it 8.5.. maybe the full game does deserve a 9

Honestly I had very low expectations for this game. With some reluctance I downloaded the demo. But I have to say after playing through the demo I have come away with a completely different view of this game now. It was actually funny. Usually games that claim to be funny really aren't. Sure some games like GTA get a chuckle or two out of you. But Brutal Legend simply had me in stiches. I loved all the over the top gore and witty humor. This game is still a rental for me. But I am sure that I will enjoy every moment of it.

The game may do pretty well, expecially on the Xbox side. There really isn't anything to compete with this week on the 360, so this game may do okay there. On the PS3 side, things may be different.

Then again, it may do okay regardless of Uncharted. Prototype did okay on the PS3 despite Infamous, so there is still hope.

Because the demo has just been a tutorial for basic gameplay stuff as your weapons. It says ZERO about the total game. Go watch the video interview. The gameplay in the demo just covered some hack & slash and the car driving, while the actual game is a sort of RTS mixed with RPG elements and some fighting. Its a big mix, that seems to work. een such a big and fine crafted open world yet... In the demo you fight till the gate and the monster, while the real Metal world is behind that gate. So all you that played the demo have seen NOTHING about the actual game.

You aren't a gamer. You're a PS3 droid that feels the need to push down other great games because Uncharted 2 is about to release. So anything multiplatform needs to be dissed by you and the other PS3 tard SDF army.

The fact that YOU don't like Brutal Legend is something totally different than you wrote above, period droid. I am not saying that the specific weapon is original, I am saying that the theme and the mix of different gameplay styles, RTS/RPG, hack&slash etc comes together nice as its said in the IGN review. Plus I know someone that could buy the retail version early and he confirms this, its one of the most rich and interesting open world games that open up AFTER you went through the gate which is the end of the demo. Ah no dude you're wrong. PS3 kids got the system from their parents and now must buy them games from their pocketmoney so they buy sh!t. And even the grown ups don't seem to buy the games, but maybe they buy a lot of BluRays I don't know.

One thing is for sure, all PS3 exclusives, with just one exception MGS4) sold around one to max two million for the great exclusives that is. Mostly helped with bundles for the PS3 (LBP, MGS4, KZ2 etc etc) and dropped to platinum 30 bucks prices here in Europe within 4 to 8 months after its release. LBP is 19 Euro overhere, KZ2, MGS4, Motorstorm 2, Resistance 2 platinum 30 bucks. Just to drive some extra sales.

Wow, you guys are right, Brutal Legend is teh awesome, and this inflated score has nothing to do w/ the fact that the gaming community is all over Tim Schaefer's nuts. This guy could have made that game from burger king and it would have gotten praised!

Fact of the matter is, if this weren't a Schaefer procduction, the hype would be nowhere as big.

Naughty Dog on the other hand, really has pushed the boundaries, U2 is setting a graphical benchmark that probably wont be eclipsed for some time to come, which is saying a lot for this gen. Not to mention it is far more robust in terms of gameplay modes and presents a cinematic style of game that is second to none.

Probably because graphism does not mean photorealism. Brutal Legend is a matter of level-design, chara-design, game design... And on this side, yes, the game easily kill most of the 2009 releases. That's just the reason why Morrowing is better than Oblivion, for example.

I've played both games now and while Brutal Legend is very good UC2 beats it pound for pound. Brutal Legend also doesn't let you skip cutscenes and that is a little annoying.

Shame that I just started playing Risen and now I have decided what to play afterwards, Uncharted 2 or Brutal Legend.

I started playing Risen a couple days ago too. It's pretty sweet, but whenever I go off the beaten path I just get killed in two hits by some skeleton. I suppose it's meant to be that way. Which faction did you choose? I sided with the rebels in the swamp. There are tons of quests there, but a lot of them are pretty tedious. At lease there's lots of variation.

Played the demo and wasn't impressed at all especially after playing the Bayonetta demo an hour before which was awesome. Maybe in the US this game will make a splash, outside of the US, I highly doubt it.

You can't expect this game to be loved by everyone since most gamers these days are much more like the crappy tween 'metal' band at the start of this game than the awesome metal bands on it's soundtrack. Given that most games are targeted towards these shallow tweens though I find this game a huge breath of fresh air and will be picking it up along with Uncharted 2 next weekend. This will be a fine fine weekend.

I have both paid for, just need to go pick them up. I can't decide which one I want to play now. Wait, wait...I think I'll do Uncharted 2 first and then Brutal Legend will split my time between Uncharted 2 and Demon's Souls.

and while i find Jack black humor as pure comedy, this game was just never on my radar, even from it's grand reveal at last years spike tv awards show. this game can go on the back burner for me. the only multiplat games im interested this quarter is AC2, MW2. everything else can go by the wayside as far as multiplats go... exclusives, it's unmatched. Uncharted 2, Demon's Souls, and Ratchet and Clank Future: ACIT... and NGS2 thats six games thats a guarntee for me... january will be awesome because Mag has that montha ll to it's self.. with proper advertising the game will(should be the game of the month to own for PS3 owners... we all know the first person shooters are popular, but taking that genre and making it an epic war brawler at 256 players... yeah that has a huge draw appeal. i plan on playing that game to death.

oh and to Jealousface... you make my day with that. Uncharted 2 will do very well so lets not jump the gun.

I wonder have they fixed the sound in the game. I played the demo and the sound effects volume was too low. Even after adjusting it in the menu didn't help out much and I have 5.1 surround sound! I have to blast the volume when playing it.

why does everything get a 9+from IGN anymore? I mean last year prince of persia got like a 9.3 that was bs, this seems like the same thing. U can bet they'll be giving AC2 a 9+. ODST got a 9.0. Hell i beat batman it's not a 9/10 game. They're caving to publisher pressure. I used to think IGN was fairly legitimate, I guess you have to convert a 9.0 into an 7.5 and a 9.5 into a 9.0 to find the real score. Sure these are good games, but you have to compare them to some of the great games on the market which are barely beating out mediocre multi-plats, when they should be far ahead.

Sales doesn't always mean quality. You can put a Halo label on a box of sh!t and people will buy it. Many great games have gone under the radar because of big name games that come out every year just about without any major improvements.

And back on topic, I hope Brutal Legend doesn't go overlooked as the style of the game is great. I'll end up getting it towards Christmas since I have a few too many games on my list in the near future as it is right now.

I played the Brutal Legend demo on PS3 and I have to say it was fantastic, so much so that it has convinced me to buy the game at some point. It won't be just yet as UC2 is my main love right now, or at least it will be on Friday.

I'll definitely pick this up at some point though, based on the demo. It just seems like a hell of a lot of fun and also pretty funny and witty. Gameplay also seems pretty cool!

But I've heard people on here complaining about screen tearing on the PS3 version? Can anyone confirm for me if it was fixed or not? cause I'd rather get it for my most relyable console, lol (seriously Im on my 7th 360)...

I know they look identical (to me at least) but if it takes buying it for 360 to avoid some bad screen tearing, so be it. Should maybe get it for my 360 anyways as I haven't had much to play on it, except I rebought Crackdown (amazinggggg).

Currently really enjoying Saw on my PS3... some elements kinda repeat, but my god I've found it to be pulling me into it a lot. It exceeded my expectations. Only a buy if you're a survival horror fan diehard (like me) if not, I def. think it's easily worth a rent!

The demo didn't help to make my mind.neither IGN's review.poor and lacking of detailed gameplay's explanation. Reading the other reviews of brutal legend I found that the RTS is not only the multiplayer, but it is a huge part of the one player campaign and that is not for everybody to enjoy due his mix of gameplay. not a game for me. I find RTS games extremely annoying.
