Japanese Sales: 2007's First Half

The PS3 has a couple titles in the top 100.

Nintendo may have around 80 percent of the Japanese videogame market between the DS Lite and Wii, but the best-selling game for the first half of 2007 (H1 2007) is a PSP title: Monster Hunter Freedom 2. Coming in at number two was Wii Sports -- which isn't included with the Wii in Japan. The ever-popular Pokemon Diamond/Pearl is resting comfortably in third place, even though it was released back in September 2006. The cumulative sales for Pokemon's first proper DS entry are around 5,185,000, making it by far the best-selling title in the top 100 if you look beyond H1 2007.

the consoles that boast flashy graphics and a whole heap of (unnecessary) bells and whistles are basically at a standstill, while the seemingly feature-less and weak console is being bought basically by everyone in the nation, is saying something loud and clear.

That's odd that Gears of War sold more than Blue Dragon... it's like doing something weird to my head thinking about that...

Good job for Monster Hunter 2! Best selling for first half of 07 and it's a PSP game. I'm just waiting to see what record DQIX is going to break when it comes out though.

Agreed. Its strange that they showed more love to a bloody shooter (Gears) than a true J-RPG (Blue Dragon). And I hear Blue Dragon is actually a really good and deep rpg, the type thats specially popular there.

Nowadays I prefer real-time combat in RPGs. I've been playing RPGs since the early 1980s, but nowadays I would prefer NOT to play turn-based combat in RPGs. I still play turn-based games (like Civ and HOMM)... but I just don't want turn-based in RPGs.

Turn-based combat is so time-consuming that it distract gamers from what are really important in a RPG: story, exploration and development.

Those Japanese people sure have a strange taste in videogames. Pokiemon?? How many Pokiemon's are there? Like a million I guess:)

6 Fun Games Where You Actually Play As The Bad Guy

While the mainstream media always sees things turning in favor of the hero, here are 6 games that own being a bad guy.

Profchaos50m ago

Pretty much all of these games listed are based around a morality system you don't have to be bad and you don't have to be good.

It seems to have left out some real amazing games like red dead redemption 1/2,ass effect and true crime la/ny

Armored Core VI?

Ok, I'm really missing something here. Just beat chapter 3 earlier this evening, unlocked A-rank Arena fights. I'm not seeing or sensing any branching paths or morality system and I've done every side mission and arena fight available to me up to that fight.

Is something big coming soon to branch the story?

I never got around to mass effect - I’m skeptical that it would hold up if I were to try it now

Furesis16h ago

I would say it does. The combat is a bit shit for todays standards but everything else is great.

It's worth a play through today.
