Defends failure rate of the Xbox 360, yet has had 3 fail on him, Typical. Xbox 360 failure rate is not defendable any way you look at it.

Microsoft made the Xbox 360 a household name along with RROD.

Xbox 360 exclusives that are available on the PC simply are not exclusives.

Yes Sony and Microsoft are big corporations that each want a bigger share of the market than there competitor, but Microsoft Is the One Known for breaking trade laws to get there bigger share, not Sony.

The failure rate probably isn't a myth. I've paid for one console, but they've sent me about two or three refurbs, as well as "repairing" my console and it having to be sent back.

My personal failure rate is probably like 80% lmao. Horrible

I will say this, I haven't had a bad customer service experience yet. They have generously compensated me for my console troubles. I got PGR3 for free, a Quick Charge kit for free, a wireless controller for free, as well as a month or two of XBL for free. It doesn't make up for not having my console, but it made it easier to deal with.

No, I totally agree the failure rate is bad. My point was no one knows the actual rate. But it is more then likely somewhere between 25 and 100%. =)

Even though most of the myths can easily be proven as fact from the majority of the N4G community and the gaming community itself.

If it was anything even remotely flattering...even after the Jasper revision, I'd expect them to be posting it on every website & news program they could.

About 9 months ago my Elite started running louder & I was told by a couple people who'd had failures it "was just a matter of weeks" - Well, it's still running...no warranty repairs needed, but with many of my friends having needed replacements I am much more careful, playing shorter game sessions than on either PS3.

I shouldn't have to be, but don't wanna push the pause button on any game I'm in the middle of and pick it up again in 3 weeks on a new machine!

That said, though I hope to never have to use it...Microsoft's extended warranty has taken care of many gamers.

How MANY gamers is actually easy to calculate no matter what Microsoft WON'T tell us...they have to indirectly tell their stockholders.

(I say indirectly, because I haven't had any actual notification of the number of units, or how they are directly accounted for in their division, SEC briefings or annual reports.)

At 1.4 billion set aside for these warranty claims...at full retail of $200 for each full Arcade unit...(Their hardware unit cost is probably more like $130 per 360)...That adds up to SEVEN MILLION replacement 360's! (This number just gets larger if you factor in Microsoft's wholesale costs, not full $200 retail.)

I'd personally like to know how these replacements are accounted for when counting the userbase, but what this means depends on your perspective :

Some would consider this quite a commitment to the 360 fans and consumers...

Others would point to this number to supports claims of massive technical defects of about 1 in every 3 units sold...

Still others would point out how this negatively affects the total number of 360's claimed to be sold...

Only Microsoft knows for certain, and as you said...aren't likely to tell us.

The Xbox 360 is Doomed Post PS3 Slim - Microsoft will never let this happen. Even with a 54% or 33% failure rate the 360 is still selling amazingly well - its all about how Microsoft plays with the media and they do play that card extremely well

Microsoft Customer Service Sucks - Not true at all. The 3 times my console failed (before I said enough is enough), MS Customer Service was extremely courteous and understanding and was almost willing to do anything to keep my business (like giving me a free game)

It's selling well BECAUSE of the failure rate. 360 has twice the consoles in NA yet Batman AAA only sold a few thousand more. I wonder how many of those 360s are dead and how many people have bought replacements thus inflating the number. And let's not forget the year head start.

Interesting that you choose to use "Batman" to try to make a point, considering it had PS3 exclusive content. "Batman" was the second biggest title on the NPD report, Madden 10 was #1. I guess if the #1 game doesn't help you, ignore it, pretend it doesn't exist, and move on to #2 right?

See, the thing is, I read 360 articles and if Saaking just happends to be trolling in it then he's fair game. There is a difference between "trolling" and responding. Perhaps it would be in your best interest to learn the difference? When he trolls, I'm calling him out on it! I don't go into PS3 articles and say, "Ohh gee, that there PS3 sure don't have no games" like Saaking does with any 360 article. What I find most amusing is that Saaking wont deny any of this, yet YOU are still defending him! With someone with so many bubbles, that was a really really weak argument. Horrible, even. The only reason I bought Batman for my PS3 was the exclusive content. I think that holds up for many dual console owners. Batman is the first multiplat I've ever bought for my PS3. I own 13 on my 360.

Luckily, I have the XCM Cross Battle Adapter so I can play my PS3 with a 360 controller seamlessly (Of course only on games that don't use sixaxis). But not too many of the games I play on PS3 use sixaxis (either that or I turn it off - aka SOCOM). I highly recommend it for dual console owners who prefer the 360 controller, btw.

This article was funny lol. Failure rate has got to be really high im on my 8th xbox 360 yes i said 8th. Also 6 out of the 7 that died ( I just bought a new Elite ebay for $170 unopen pretty good deal) have all died with RROD that last one died of the E74 error from what i heard pretty much the same thing as RROD but without the lights.

I am sorry to bring this up, but I keep seeing this myth perpetrated all over forums. Well it is an outright lie. (Feel free to post your stupid list of upcoming games below fanboys.) I recognize that Halo ODST will sell well, but it seems to be the same recycled game. Forza 3, while I am sure is awesome, faces some tough competition from Need For Speed Shift and Gran Turismo 5. The other console happens to have a much larger mix of different genre types and a higher number of quality games.

To say that the studies are worth nothing is to say that Microsoft's flaccid phallus is firmly lodged between your lips.

It doesn't matter which audience was polled, or who by, but the studies do show that the failure rate is quite large. It might not be 50 percent -- it could be less, could be more. Until you are ready to poll five thousand gamers across the world, you should accept the work that has been done for you.
