People Played Real Plane Crash Web Game 4.6 Million Times

Kotaku writes: "Hero On The Hudson, a gameplay-light web game about Captain "Sully" Sullenberger's successful landing of an Airbus A320 on the Hudson River, is just one popular game based on that stuff most commercial video games don't deal with: current events.

The LA Times' Ben Fritz (formerly blogging about games for Variety) recently visited San Francisco-based Addicting Games to learn about how and why the Viacom-owned site makes games about the news."

I never got into these little web games people seem to play all the time. Most of the time they are horribly made and more importantly not fun.

It seems this game was a FLYING success.

If it cost money it would crash and burn.

I played that game a week or so ago, and there really isn't much of a game there, let alone anything to live up to its developer's namesake. This is just marketing an inferior product by tying it into a current events story. While there's nothing really wrong with this -- I don't object to the decision to recreate the event -- it's just annoying as always to see such lackluster drivel get more plays and generate more ad revenue than the hundreds of better Flash titles out there.

Indeed, there is a ton more flash games that are better, something I've started liking is the RPG flash games.

I guess if you're going to pilot school it's practice.

Interesting article, it doesn’t surprise me because some people are better all a-rounders than others. Regardless of fame or how good they are in their specialty.

This is why I feel like the live action stuff in Alan Wake 2 especially is pretty bad. It also looks really cheap and amateurish.
