Hardcore fighting fans are all talking about BlazBlue, Aksys' foray into high-def 2D fighting. While equal numbers of 360 and PS3 copies were made, the PS3 version appears to be selling out faster than the other. Why is that? Well, it could be the system's superior D-Pad. The 360 controller might be better for other games, but it's absolute hell trying to use it for fighting games. I haven't played BlazBlue yet, but I did play both versions of Street Fighter IV, and I couldn't stand using the 360 controller for it.

There are other factors, of course (and they're listed in the article), but I think it's mostly the controller.

Ican't believe just how many of us are saying they haven't heard of this game. It's been getting 9/9.5s for the oast two weeks-everywhere and without the stupid SF4 rose tinted review specs too.

Got my US import two days ago and though I haven't played that much yet it's already given me as much fun as SF4 has! It looks AMAZING as the gfx are so crisp and the art just blows me away. The story is, predictably , mad but the few characters are so varied it style and well balanced that I don't think I've been so impressed by a "D fightr since the first release of SF2!

Totally a game everyone should try as if it fails through noone knowing what it is it'll be a tragedy when the game's so damn good and so well crafted. Honestly, if I'd believed games would look like this in my home when I was little I would have exploded.

Comparing actual numbers, sales of FPS games on the 360 in comparison to all other type of games, and racial stereotyping. I'm sorry, but that's just crazy.

It's proven that the 360's primary audience loves FPS over all other type of games. The few games that get through are the non-standard hits, such as GTA4, which seems to do well across all platforms.

There's a few logical reasons why this game is performing better on the PS3, though.

1. This game is most popular in regions where the PS3 dominates

2. The d-pad on the PS controllers are better for fighting games

3. You can remote play this game on your PSP

4. The best fighters of this genre use PS3 and those who want to compete with them will also get it for the PS3

5. The primary console for official fighting game competitions across the world has been the PS3

Basing it off amazon.com is completely misleading based on the assumption that the etailer ordered equal numbers of games for both the 360 and PS3. In most cases, etailers order more for the 360 (in the US) and that is one of the reason why the PS3 limited edition of SF IV was so hard to find.

I don't doubt that in general fighting games that rely on the d-pad will sell better on the PS3 as the 360 d-pad sucks @ss!!! I had to buy the mad catz controller for my 360, that is how bad it is! I never thought that a reason to buy the PS3 version is to fight Japanese gamers....

I actually prefer the 360 pad. Here is why. The placement of the dual analog sticks at the bottom of the DS3 can sometimes get in the way of my controlling the moves. I dont have that issue with the split position on the 360. This isnt the case for all games but the 2D style fighting games (kof, sf2, mortal kombat, etc) just play better for my thumbs using the 360. 3D style games like soul calibur and tekken I use the ds3.

I also use the standard 360 controllers for SF4. I get destroyed on Live all the time, but my friends and I have great times regardless of the inferior d-pad. In fact, most of the time I'm using the analog stick for Ultras and Specials so the d-pad isn't always much of an issue. That said, the only reason I didn't pick it up for PS3 is because I found it cheap for 360 when it came out and didn't really think about it until I got it home. I was pissed at myself at first, but since I've adapted and I love it. I don't think the 360 pad is "unaccaptable", just inferior.

I 100% agree with you. If you look at 360 and PS3 there is so many of the consoles out yet there isn't this one game almost everyone had to have. It really shows the differences in consumers as a whole don't like the same thing.

I can't wait to see the game though either multiplatform or exclusive that sells out to the majority of the user base and ISN'T Wii Sports Casual friendly.

If any game sales 7-10million in its first month then that will be THE game that is really getting something right on a massive scale. Personally I could see something like Final Fantasy 13 being big enough if it is worth the 5 year wait. It could be Modern Warfare 2 for all we know. The first did sell a LOT, and if they make the multiplayer as defined as what they've shown for the single player then it could be THAT game.

Who knows though only time will tell.

As for Blazblue selling more on PS3 over 360 it probably does have to do with the controller. I personally do not buy fighting games for my 360, and that's that. Still wish PS3 version would get the 360 version DLC. I want the extra colors for Jin already dang it! :(

360 D-pad is really bad, but i mean how come no one use the analog stick? I use that for fighting game. Its seem to be easier on the finger if you play for a long time, especially fighting game. try to play it with analog stick man, you will like it.

an arcade stick or a fightpad are better than your standard controller for either console. I have the game for both consoles, with a fighpad for the 360 and the regular controller for the PS3.

They both work great. Being that its only a 4 button game, the PS3 controller is definitely fighter friendly in this case, as you don't have to rely on the shoulder buttons for standard attacks. The fightpad takes some getting used to (making sure to not hit RB and RT), but becomes second nature after a bit of practice.

I use the Analog Stick in 360 Fighters, because its mor like the Arcade Sticks it shoud be played with. The 360 D-Pad is really anoying in any Game. If you press to the right the game take another direction..

Another reason could be that all the people playing in tournaments seem to buy it for the PS3, since that's the console being used in said tournaments. Sure, plays the same, but guys who bring their own arcade sticks to matches need a PS2/PS3 stick. It probably doesn't account for a whole LOT of sales, but it's probably something serious fighting gamers think about.

as for me i went with the fightpad because #1 it works great with XBLA games and the genesis collection. #2 i played SF2 on snes and the pad feels more at home. #3 its only $40

Its ok but i will still take a proper joystick/fight pad anyday. even when i had my ps1 i had a stick. i actually hate the ps pad for fighters, not as much as the 360`s but the hate is there! my freinds had to use the pads and would blame my winning streaks on the stick.

The best pad for fighting games is still the sega saturn pad. sega should make saturn pads for the ps/360. that would bring a small tear of joy to my dry eyes :). id even buy em wholesale!

You need it. get it...they have ps3 sticks aswell for those of you thats too snobby to play fighting games witha ps3 pad.myself being one of them ,i have the white madcatz sf4 fightstick for my ps3 ,as well as a fightstick TE, two fight pads(one for fighting,the other for XBLA) and a Hori R.A.Pro .well and truly sorted! ill be buying this on both 360 (so i can kick my freinds *sses!) and ps3 (i just love bringing it to the japanese!) when it comes to fighting games, you can always learn a trick or two from the japanese pros..and beating them is so satisfying..i love beating a great opponent no matter which part of the world they are from though :). lets all buy fighting games and sticks in droves..we gotta keep this genre alive!

No surprises here. Another playstation loon bashing the Xbox 360 for invalid and pointless reasons. His story does not mean the PS3 version of BlazBlue is better than the Xbox 360 version, nor is it worse than the Xbox 360 version.

You can buy the Limited Edition cheaper at other websites so why bother reading this rubbish? Look at DVD, Play, Game or Gameplay. Etc.

Regardless, Street Fighter IV beats BlazBlue in near all categories.

It could be selling better because fighting games have not traditionally done too well on the xb360 anyway. I played the new street fighter on xb360 and after the nostalgia wore off, I've lost all interest in it also. I may consider getting this game for ps3 just because they can still be fun but... As a PS3 owner, I can't help but think its getting picked up so quickly because we don't have that many great choices for titles to begin with. I realize this is changing but... As a gamer and owner of both consoles, I'm often a little saddened by the slim pickins' for the ps3. I really hope the backwards compatibility rumor is true. Being able to play my old ps2 games library would be really great.

People that keep saying that the controller is the reason it's selling better than the other system are mad stupid. The majority of SERIOUS (<-- READ IT) FG players use arcade joysticks. If you are a casual gamer then go with your pad mentality and assumptions.

I had to buy a PS3 arcade joystick because most major tournaments like Devastation, EVO, MWC and whatnot use PS3 as their platform of choice for fighters.

This decision was done mostly because alot of players have a joystick for the PS2 and just need to buy a 24$ adapter to make it work on a PS3. There was no other reason for the major tournaments.

In reality EVO is freaking out about the amount of PS3's they need and cost is a big factor for them.

I have been waiting for this game for almost 2 years now...I got the game for PS3 and the BlazBlue Arcade Stick for PS3 as well.

Sad part is that they waste a bluray disc an called it a movie and its notthing more then gameplay -_- but other then that the game is awesome an the day I pick it up.......well I made a hole in my finger for playing to hardcore an I did online play to.

taht would be more successful on ps3 in japan, and more successful with the ps3 users over here. I do think alot of xbox users are shooter nuts, but not more than ps3 users. The best selling games on ps3 and 360 are shooters, At least in the US.

According to vg charts the numbers arnt that far off, and their not that high either. If those numbers are remotely correct tho, Im surprised how well the game has done in the US so far.
