basically, it has the same problem I found with GTA4, there is nothing to do after you are done with the missions.(only that GTA4 had multiplayer)
So I guess I'll pass on this one,there too many great games already like GOW3, MW2, Infamous, and Battlefield 2.

It's still worth a play through. Repetitive for sure but around mission 5 or 6 you get some cool ass moves, that make you want to finish the game.

It is repetitive, but for some reason i can play hours straight doing similar activities. The story is nice, and each time you kill a target and the story moves forward it sucks you right in (IMO). Good buy for less than $20 (bought it last week :)

I got the first one for $11 and I thought it was alright for that price. It's repetitive, but it's not abysmal. I think the sequel has potential to be much, much better.

i enjoyed the first one. I think everyone can agree that the main problem was the repetitiveness of the "missions". But i still liked the game. Only enough for one playthrough though. Assassins Creed was hyped in the ass majorly. That damn Jade Raymond >_>

I don't care what anyone else thinks, Assassin's Creed was one of the freshest and most enjoyable gaming experiences to come out this generation. Yes, it was repetitive but the game was so good otherwise that it didn't really hurt the game that much. Gears of War (or practically any shooter) is just as repetitive when you think about it, yet get a free pass. I guess some people just don't like the style of gameplay found in Assassin's Creed. Me? I love it.

The narrative, the atmosphere, the scale, the animations, the ability to freely traverse up buildings and over rooftops, planning assassinations, the size of the cities, so many things about this game made it totally enjoyable and a one of a kind experience.

I literally can't wait for the sequel. One of my most anticipated games, along with Uncharted 2.

I really, really liked the first one. The only thing it really needed was more variety in the way of side missions before you unlocked the assassination attempts. That and give me the damn crossbow! Loved the story.

I can see why people say its repetitive, but the game doesnt force you to do too much of those things before the assassination missions. The climbing and fighting was pretty cool. My main problem was that it was INSANELY easy. There was no other difficulty and as soon as you get counter attack and the combo move you can kill all the guards with no effort at all and they will just run away eventually. I actually started to just do the hidden blade counter attack because it was the only move that was actually somewhat of a challenge to do.

the second game could be great with more variety in the side missions, some cooler enimies/bosses, and maybe make it actually a challenge. that way you can actually feel like an assassin, and not like your playing dynasty warriors with blood on very easy.

Yeah, i wish there was more to do. But i did buy the game at full price so... if you're not willing to spend that much money. Just rent it or borrow it from a friend. The game is awesome at all the killing... you just wish there were more missions since it's such a big place.

1st one had a good enough story for me to want to play this one. Game was pretty sweet, but repetitive. Some parts were annoying (people pushing you on the docks and you instantly die in the water). Then the whole killing someone in front of a whole crowd, but then walking around like you are praying there is no possible way you could of done it. It's worth a play through for the story alone though imo, then hopefully they fix the problems the 1st one had.

Not really. Take Bioshock for example. There's tons of different ways to shoot, as well as the interesting way it progresses the gameplay and storyline. Heavy emphasis on progressing the gameplay. You get new additions all the way to the end of the game.

The difference between that and AC, in AC you basically do the same kills in the same missions. The gameplay doesn't progress like it should. Sure, the story progresses, but that's about it.

hope you were being sarcastic, in AC you get upgraded weapons after each mission, and new fighting moves. I loved both bioshock and AC but every game boils down to the same ammount of repetetive actions. I just loaded up AC to get all the flags yesterday and I cant wait to get AC2, I agree it does have problems and I hope they will fix them.

I hope they read the reviews and the issues of repetitiveness and come around this time with more aspects and different variations. The story is really good, so I am hoping they just don't throw the same game out there with new cities and slightly better graphics. This will probably be a rent or a goozex.com type of game, with Mass Effect 2, Operation Flashpoint 2, and Modern Warfare 2. Those games should consume all my extra spare time.

Quite a few game mags and sites gave Assassin's Creed scores of 9 or above. I happen to agree with those reviewers. Everybody else has crappy taste, in my opinion.

I'm sorry, I think your opinion sucks as well. :) I happen to agree with 1up, EGM, Games(TM), and The New York Times when I say the game is ridiculously boring. As for games that I think are good; I would have to say any game with good gameplay that isn't ridiculously repetitive and bland like Assassin's Creed. You pointed out that "quite a few" publications game the game 9's or higher, but more of them actually gave it less than 9's with one being as low as 4.8/10. Perhaps Assassin's Creed should've introduced some innovation in gameplay and some fun missions. I guess I just didn't fall into the hype like old SaberEdge here.

AC is fun at start but gets really boring quick after doing the same stuff over and over again. The story is pretty much slim to none and it felt like it could have been soooooo much better with alittle more thought behind it.

Same thing with the latest prince of persia. That game could have been epic but the repetiveness destroyed it.

Think of it as a movie. If you payed 10$ to go and see a movie only to find out after 10 minutes of watching it that the movie started to go in to a loop showing the same 10 minutes over and over again. That would suck right? It's the same thing with games too but people seem to forget about that.

may i remind everyone here that this game is multiplatform. that means, it will be held back by a inferior system just like gta 4 was. it will be plagued with issues and be very limited in game content due to lack of disc space . imagine this game on a 50gb blu ray disc while making use of 7 SPUs or the 6 that are accessible now. i wonder which game will look better, this or infamous ? the 1st assassins creed was crap and plagued with glitches because it went multiplatform. this should be better, hopefully it wont suffer from the gears 2 syndrome where the second game is plagued with way more issues than the 1st.

i thought the first game was awesome repetitive or not it was fun. I really liked the running, climbing and jumping. The sword play with the dodge and swing finishers was sick and never got old, and the trying to evade all the solders was fun and on hard, very challenging to say the least. Assassin's Creed get's 5* in my book and I cant wait for part 2

I liked the AC. The graphics and scale was simply mind blowing. The animation system was top notch but the problem with this game was that at one hand we had a beautiful city to run around in and at the same time there wasn't really anything to do in it. Plus it was overhyped to death. I played one mission a day. Because it was so god damn repetitive. Plus once you get the counter attack ability, the game's combat became really lame.

and yeah, something tells me it won't be THAT awesome, but there's hope...
while everyone's throwing their opinions in, I enjoyed the first game very much. it takes a while to get to each assassination, but its interesting learning about your target, planning your approach and that sweet kill (especially when you do it stealthily) makes it all worth it. The last hour or so does kinda suck, since you just fight hordes of knights for a while, but an alright final boss and a couple plot twists near the end are pretty cool.

Real mature gamers will not dwindle and argue on such pointles and childish things such as xbox is better or ps3 is better. Xbox itself has akready shown us this answer since they are already begining to create the xbox 720. Playstation has no new console in sight and for a gd reason, the main component is the updateable hardware and the blu ray system and because of this the playstation has no need for a new console.

Enough on this anyway, the fact is the ps3 is a better technological pece and will last longer while the real point is the both consoles play games and thats all that matters. On the point of repetetiveness this arguement could go on for ever. A game can be the best ever and yet still be slightly or massively repetetive. In a wider point of view all games are repetitive to some point although many may argue that FPS is the largest of these. In a way this is true but in all honestly why do so many people play FPS like cod4. The answer is put simply it's fun!!. I personally haven'tplayed assasins creed yet but from all the views ive heard it is obvious that the blame cannot be put on the repetitiveness. If you loved the game than it didn't really matter. If you iddn't like it than u blamed it on repeptiveness and glitches. Just because a game may have glitches thid doesn't make it bad.

As games get better there are many who demand greatness always but the real component that a game requires is fun and if it's not entertaining thatn it has no purpose and is not a gd game.

I haven't played the game yet. It really wasn't on my radar when If was first released. I kind of regret not buying it because I've heard great things about the game and seen and a lot of game play vids.

I'll definitely check it out before AC 2 drops. I want to be up to date on the story and game play.

The first one was a very good game. I never allowed the mission repetition to bother me because I had so much fun playing the game. I did every single investigation and killed every guard on the roof tops. If you did both, killing the target was much easier. I even got the "Blade in the Crowd" achievement for the doctor while he was surrounded by guards and patients. And I absolutely LOVED the story. To say I'm excited for the next one is an understatement.
