Famitsu reports that hardware and software charts in Japan from Feb 23rd to March 1st, 2009 were as follows:

PSP: 40000

Wii: 22000

PS2: 5700

(Note the boost in Wii Hardware # vs. earlier reports.)

i find it funny how star ocean is called 'The Last Hope'...it kinda is the 360's in japan. sadly for MS next week it will be out of the list. one of the best selling jrpg's for the 360 and total its sold less than half Y3 sold in one week. wheres that article saying how well the 360 is doing in japan. what a joke

Why doesnt someone make a game out of The Seven Samurai, but in colour of course with a realistic combat system.

Not bad for Sony. Nintendo sells good, as usual. SO4 is already disappearing..... wrong SE politic, it had to be multi and on PS3/Wii too if they wanted to sell more, much more (over all on Wii).
Let's see how it will be in the next weeks, RE5 is coming and i guess japanese ppl are waiting for it, over all on PS3

Let's hope this trend continues. And here's to hoping that the States will follow. I am curious as to why the Wii had the sudden drop in sales though and the PS3 had such a spike. Must be the Resident Evil 5 affect.

Star Ocean did pretty good for the amount of 360 units in Japan I guess.

I'm sure Sony must be happy ( finally) to see HW sales, Nintendo should just release the multi color wii's. This is the First single color system they've had in a while. I would love a black or ruby red version.

Nintendo And Sony will put up a real fight in japan.
Once FF:vs13 for PS3 comes out it all goes booom, and then there is dragon quest for the Wii( or monsterhunter)....its scary i tell ya...

Looking forward to the wars =D cause we know they will be inevitable.

That the ps3 was at the same price as the wii at their launches, I would love to see how their sales would've progressed, but in all honesty I see wii sales dying down(in Japan at least) by the time ps3 sales start picking up. I foresee a titanic struggle in europe though:)

What does the Ps3 have to offer that it will crush the Wii?
Do realise that a game like monster hunter or DragonQuest could push the Wii higher than ever...same will happen to the Ps3 with FF.

keep in mind that they both have software that japan goes crazy about.
So i dont see how "wii sales" are dying...while in fact both are just "beginning" to sell considering the heavy known titles Japan has.

To actually contradict you i said both consoles have games japan really want, they are gonna sell massively in japan. PS3 and the Wii will. See im also complimenting the Ps3 its not a Wii defense.

Why isn't the Ps3 getting to a point it starts to saturate, so instead of insinuating that im a "wii-fanboy" explain WHY YOU THINK IT WILL REACH SATURATION POINT.

Also i never knew you were japan that you actually decide for them what a "good" game is. Cause its japan who massively also bought Wii-sports ( yes they had to buy it, we got it for free ) with their Wii's.

The reason I say you jumped to it's defense is you said how is the ps3 going to crush the wii, when all I said was I see wii sales dying down and ps3 sales picking up. I didn't mention the ps3 crushing it and I only think it's going to happen in Japan since it's a smaller market, I still think it's going to own Europe and America. I think most people who want a wii have one now, since for the most part price wasn't a problem, so I don't see the wii getting a sales boost from great exclusives. It hasn't changed since the start really, while the ps3s major games are only starting to come out this year. For example the people who wanted to buy a mario/zelda(not their only games, just an example) game got the wii. The fans of older ps2 games might not have a ps3 yet so when their favourite game comes out they will most likely get it.
