One of the hardest emotions to genuinely create in a game though is that of fear - movies have it easy, as the director can always ensure that the experience is the one intended. For something like a first person shooter it's considerably harder as the player is essentially free to look, move and act as they please. Cutscenes can help in this respect but they're non-interactive and thus the player is removed from the event. I haven't played all those games... but I find the scariest game I have ever played was the first resident evil... but then again I was 10...
