GamingShogun writes, "Unfortunately, in today's troubled economy and with the intense competition between MMORPGs, it takes something very special to make a dent in the market and even more to survive. Tabula Rasa is the latest victim in these turbulent times, as the company has officially announced the game servers will shut down on February 29th, 2009. As a special thank you to its player base, the servers will be free starting January 10th, 2009. This was not a totally unexpected event as Richard 'Lord British' Garriot recently left thet..."
TGH Writes: "For this week’s Gaming Gods, we go to England, to the unique mindset and genius of Richard Garriott. The man who coined the term Massive Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game."
Lord British himself, Richard Garriott, has won a US$28 million lawsuit against game developers NCsoft Corp.

Isn't it a shame that a game that cost NCSoft a whopping $106 million to develop should go to waste? There's no doubt the game was a financial disaster for NCSoft, as the game only made $6 million..."
I think it would be really successful as a free to play MMORPG, and if possible maybe give it a little graphical upgrade to make the game more appealing.
this game had a great concept and was actually pretty fun. But a botched launch will turn everyone away like sour milk. oh well there are tons of MMo comming. stargate...guild wars 2 star wars..star trek......not enough time in the day
damn that sucks, RIP
There won't be actually 29th February in 2009. They have a typo there...
It's a shame, It's pretty good game with a terrible start. Weak starts are rarely forgivable in MMO world.
They should do Micro Transactions from the beginning.....and had free servers to save the game....I would play it....Im pretty sure plenty of people would and see if its worth to pay for
Another one falls to the wow machine.
The trend I notice is simply, bad start = bad in the long run.
