Well I played it and the damn demo sucks ass. And I mean klingon covered, unwashed, toilet paper balled, fungus covered reeking nasty ass too. Invisible walls you run against, control scheme that is hairbrained, spawning, spawning, spawning, more linear than ten miles of pasta, Team AI that is incredible idiotic and enemy AI that are obviously blind because they do not attack them, dumb bosses (get on the stairs and just grenade the hell out of them), incredibly convoluted level up system, aiming for the blind - you often find yourself helping humanity by blasting evil air molecules, a camera system that has been castrated, and worst of all they dropped the entire cyberpunk approach originally planned. These doughnuts have never even heard of William Gibson. Too Human blows massive chunks of putrid rotting flesh. 360 lovers, enjoy your own personal Haze.

downloaded and played. first impressions, the enviroments are massive however you are limited to the path and sadly can't jump on the walls, as 1up might have mentioned.

The graphics leave little to be desired and looked a bit unpolished around the edges. However it's an interesting design style for a traditional hack and slash and I was quite amazed by the scenery in places.

Gameplay.. I actually quite enjoyed it, to the guy above who said they played it for only 10 minutes I'd agree with you, but you have to give it a good playthrough to appreciate it. After I got used to the controls, (tad annoying right stick is attack instead of camera) I quite enjoyed it, getting new weapons and armour to customize the guy was quite enjoyable and after a while I was throwing out all kinds of crazy moves, the use of the guns works well but the controls could do with streamlining.

Menu's are rather clunky, it seemed to slow down when accessing equipment and the skills page could do with a few tips on how to use it properly as there's no onscreen help to explain, however after you've gained a few levels you can spend points here and there.

Story, didnt really get into it I was listening to AC/DC during my play through but the cinematics were quite well done.

Overall, I wouldnt recommend buying in it's current state unless you're into that genre specifically as its kinda hard to get into based from the demo, (maybe it will get polished before retail but who knows) however it merits a rent at least imo. I presonally will prob pick this up as the last recent scavanger hunt i played was Titan Quest and I particually enjoy these experiances...

The graphics arent really impressive, the textures look blurry in the distance and kind of rough up close, the framerate is very rough/jumpy/stuttery/framey. The guys faces all look the same when you are picking them, the bump/normal mapping are unimpressive, it looks low-res-ish looking, cuz it looks aliased to me, and the camera does suck and is very slow to turn, rpobably one of the worst cameras in a long time. Very unimpressive if you ask me. But i havent played to it too much yet, but that's cuz i dont really care to.

Well, contrary to what most here seem to be experiencing I actually had a good time with it. The gfx range from good/decent to plain awful, the animations too and the combat is a bit clunky. However, the game is fun (for ME) once you get the hang of the controls and you start stacking up combos and seeing baddies go down like flyes. Also, your dude ranks up in the speed of lightning so your character quickly evolves. Unfortunately you only get to choose the champion class, but oh well its a demo. I fully expected to hate this game, and for the first 15 min I did, but after a while it warmed on me. I expect this game to get review scores ranging from 5.0 to 7.5, but I'll prolly still get it.

The game WILL NOT appeal to the masses, and those of you going in with high expectations will be dissapointed, but its a cool game.

EDIT: The art is a complete (I said complete) rippoff of mainly Mass effect but also Halo. The baddies look pretty much exactly like the geth and your allies are very very similar to the ones in halo.

I've been playing it and I am enjoying it, I love a good Hack and slash class based game and this seems to fit the bill just fine. Would of preferred more classes to try but I guess the Champion will do. I can see the potential.

Jenzo, in my experience PC demos tend to improve quite a bit between the demo's release and the full game release. The developers tend to use a demo almost like a beta. With consoles it seems to be the opposite...the demos seem to be closer to the final code...Bioshock was brilliant and Turning Point: Fall of Liberty was a turd. Based on the demo I think this game will score a solid 7 on Metacritic. Not bad but probably not worth $60 to your average gamer.

I seriously doubt most have played it yet, despite the claims to contrary by some.

The first 15mins is a bit WTF, but then you get over trying to move the camera with the right thumbstick and start getting used to the surprisingly deep, combo based combat. When the inventory and skill trees open up it really started growing on me.

There's no doubt the game looks only marginally better than a launch title, and there is some occasionally odd textures and character models.

But I've been playing well over an hour now and have thoroughly enjoyed myself, the story has drawn me in, there are some beautiful set peices, I'm starting to get better at the combat (this game is much tougher than it looks) and I'm already checking my loot out at the end of every battle! lol

It's certainly not for the FPS and graphic whore crowds. But anyone who likes a decent action title with massive Diablo/WOW loot, grinding, stats, skill trees and crafting will dig this. After all I played both those games for the same damn reasons. The interesting story and interesting art design are just bonuses.

It's very much a love and hate thing. But I'll be picking it up because there's no other game like it on consoles and I can see the loot and replay value will last me well an truly beyond those supposed 10hrs! :)

Does the Demo help? Well it did for me. I think there are a lot of people who will hate or avoid this game, but they've placed doubt in more open gamers willing to give something a try. I think the demo effectively nulls the trolls and lets people make their minds up. Having played the demo, I can certainly tell you this is in a class well above Lair, but also a class below Mass Effect.

With this being N4G and all you have to take in consideration that half the people that say they played and it sucks, are trolling. I'm only basing this on the fact that this is N4G (dumb fanboy town) The only way to find out for sure, is to research their comments to find extreem bias. On the other hand some are legit, so the only way I'm going to know for sure is to play it (it's at 30%) Through experince of being here at this site, I would say be carefull who to believe.

I'd also like to thank you for your unbiased opinion on the game. I only got to play it for 15 minutes on my lunch break (yeah, I went home from work to try it, haha), and I still hadn't adapted to the controls, so I'm sure it'll grow on me yet. I'm a big fan of action RPGs, so I can see a lot of replay value for myself.

One funny thing I noticed about the game is that the attack animations look pretty good for a sliding attack but the combos look like you're violently swinging your weapon at a fly that you just can't hit. I think the gameplay itself isn't too shabby though. I can look past some of the downsides if I can find satisfaction in destroying waves of enemies.

I'm tempted at the moment to cancel my reservation and get it used, but I'll make the decision for sure when I get more time with the game later.

Flawed as it is, it IS the kind of title I like to play, but longevity is the name of the game for a title like this and 10 hours for this kind of title is fatal.

I'd forgive the poor graphics, the clunky camera - it doesn't matter too much. But I can't forgive the brevity - its simply not good value to me.

My feelings exactly. I admit to the jarring effect of the control scheme which throws you off centre with your habit for using the right thumstick as the camera stick, but I played on and the battles have got epic, the loot very cool and the story has me already interested in a sequel. :)

I suggest anyone on the fence or even on the "no buy" side, go download the demo and give it an hour (not 15 minutes) and then you can make your own minds up. :)

Got to play the demo, terrible. Feels last-gen in every regards, especially visuals and the camera is a little twitchy. I've played Lair and this ranks right up there as one of the worst next-gen games to date.

Wow, I'm surprised that so many people are saying they dislike the demo. I've been playing it for about 45 minutes and I think it is rather good (not "amazing", but not every game can be a perfect 10).

The graphics are very impressive and so is the sound. The story sounds like it will be cool and the acting is solid (that witch was cool).

I would suggest that people play it with an open mind and try not to let all of the negative press/hype affect their final decision.

What have Silicon Knight been doing all this time? No doubt the storytelling is great.... but what unfolds in front of my eyes is a game running on an engine that can barely keep up with any players input.

What can save this game at this moment? Maybe postponing the game and try to get it run on the Unreal Engine.

I am sorry Silicon Knights for not seeing eye to eye on Too Human. No doubt a lot of hard work and passion went into the creation of this game. I am sure the Unreal engine issue has caused some major setback in all areas. But If you guys have waited 9 years to release this game what is the hurry now... especially knowing that a game in the condition will simply mean bad business for everybody.

I too will try and forget Too Human and focus on perhaps the return of Eternal Darkness.

For the type of Game that it is, it falls right in my Genre.

1. Music/Voice - Are good.(From what I heard, Again, I played 5 mins).

2. Camera - Wasn't all that great but I could live with it. The game turns Gauntlet Style from a far but the Camera is still at your back, .No biggie)

3. Gaphics - Sheesh them Eyebrows look like Sh^t Close -up, anyone seen those? A little rough on the Edges, but you gotta keep in mind SK had to scrap the UT engine and use their own. For the best or Worst.

4.Controls - You can either Like it or Hate it. Trying to "Squeeze" so much out of 8-buttons is very tough to do. (Almost like there will be added buttons on the PC counterpart if there is a port.) There is a lot going on there and most "Hack n Slashers" uses the main 4-buttons for attacking but using this analogs is a change, with the other buttons serving for functions. (Controls need Mastering but I like it)

At first, the combat seemed alright, but the more I played, the more I realised how amazingly shallow it is. It's not bad, just a lot shallower than I was expecting. It only took 10 minutes to realise I'm not having fun.

The thing that's missing is that linking the combat to the right stick makes the movements really slow.

A hack and slash (which is what this is, RPG my rear end) needs to be fast and responsive, the stick makes this slow and clunky. It doesn't feel right at all. If the Stick isn't going to be 1:1 control, then what's the point of it?

Well, all your main melee attacks are linked to the right analogue stick, which doesn't work for me. It's too slow and not responsive.

The left trigger controls your left gun and your right trigger controls your right gun - simple, but really effective.

The LB is used to reset the camera behind you, which is a minor annoyance due to the camera sucking.

The RB is used to unleash your "special" I guess.

A is jump, but it could really have used a double jump.

Do you need more proof I've played it?

Just adding to Pirates comments. I just finished a second playthrough and it gets more complex.

X becomes your special creature bonus. B is evade/roll. and Y is your spider bot (Essentially a sentry that you can configure as a turrent/grenadier/proximity mine). In addition to that there are a whole heap of different guns, including lasers and plasma rifles with mounted grenade launchers - in which case you use the left trigger for grenades and the right trigger for firing.

What's really cool is that it's not as simple as it first appears with just pointing at something with you're right thumbstick. You can certianly play like that but you won't beat the time challenge arenas and you won't get as high a combos which means far less damaging attacks and nowhere near as cool loot.

It really has a sort of Fight Night thing going on where different length presses, rotations and flicks of the Right thumbstick combined with similar variations on the Left thumbstick create a flurry of different moves.

And it may look wack on video but air combat rules. It's a lot of fun getting up close to an enemy, flicking the right stick to volley him in the air and then jumping up to pull of a finish move. Even better is when you try to do that with multiple enemies and

It's definitely not for everyone, but after the demo it's definitely for me! :)

the hype surrounding Heavenly Sword's budget was entirely focused on how it was using mo-cap techniques never before implemented into real-time rendering/gameplay...the cut-scenes were all rendered in real time, yet where based on algorithms captured of real world actors (and done in house by the special effects studio directly responsible for the LOTR trilogy...Weta Workshop in New Zealand iirc...)...

it was insanely expensive...but looked insanely lifelike...not even MGS4 matched the facial animation of HS (which was expected, as it didn't use the same type of facial animation technology)...but the expense in mo-cap took its toll everywhere else, with the game run-time being inexcusably short...

Killzone 2 is the only other game in development using the same technology...only Killzone 2 has nearly triple the overall budget of Heavenly Sword...which hopefully means it will have all the incredibly life-like animation of Heavenly Sword...and won't be beatable in 4 hours...

Funny you posted this...I had the same issue. I was like WTF? However I am guessing you might have the SceneIt game and have the USB infared device plugged into your 360 as I did. For some reason this game recognizes that as the controller not your normal controller. Just unplug the SceneIt peripheral and you will be able to hit the start button. :)

I thought it was a good game. It took me a while to get used to not trying to use the right thumbstick for the camera. I played half the damn demo without ever switching to the upgraded weapons I found. But once I started using the better weapons and upgrading the skills it was fun. It has some Diablo type elements mixed into the gameplay.

The graphics aren't as bad as some people say. I'm sorry but you won't see graphics like these on any last generation games. Maybe it's not the best looking game, but it's not the worst looking game either.

Well, I just played the demo and it certainly is a unique game that feels completely different from the usual fare....that's for sure. While I was really put off by the melee being on the right analog stick at first, by the end of the demo, I started getting used to it and can see how it could get very addicting.

Once you start going through the customization and skill tree screens, you can tell that this is a game that a demo will not do much justice to, as the fun will be found when you start getting your character leveled up do a decent level. By which time, you should have a good grasp of the combat, and will have unlocked and learned many different combos as well.

No, the graphics are not up to snuff, but they are tolerable and some of the artwork is very nice. The camera does a really good job while in combat, and feels kind of like the camera in Eternal Darkness when you are walking around. People complaining about the character models have obviously forgotten Halo 3. Too Human's are much better, and the animation is about on par with Halo 3 as well.

All in all, I can tell that the demo did not even scratch the surface of what the game itself will offer in terms of what you can do combat wise and leveling up wise. And I can also tell that this is a game that will quickly become very addictive and very satisfying once the nuances of the gameplay are learned and once you start getting your character leveled up. Not to mention that it is a different experience than anything out right now, and that is definitely another plus in my books.

As far as scores go, I could really care less, but I am expecting the reviews to be just as polarizing as the previews. Some will love it for being different and some will despise it just because it is different and also because it does not have "Teh shInEH GrAFFiX." But, I fully expect it to have a loyal following that will love it and consider it to be a highly misunderstood game that most did not even give a fair shake....and I include myself in that group as well.

My take on anonther forum: I am going to like this game ....alot. That said....you will easily spend the first 15-20 min of this game fighting the camera system. It's not that its horribly broken, its just that it is different than almost ANY game on the market today and thus has you fighting your own 2nd nature to control the camera traditionally. Once you come to grips with the camera this game becomes very fun. Combat felt great to me. using the sticks and triggers was much easier than I thought it would be. Loot, weapons and armor systems are great...you will have a blast with this if you are one who likes to collect and manage stuff. Sound is top notch! Voice acting is pretty darn good ( writing seems a tad cheesy in certain spots...but overall the VO is very well done in delivery) and sound effects are great. Graphically this game is hit and miss for me. At moments you are like WOW that looks fantastic..then there are a few moments where you will see character models and be like WTF that looked more xbox than 360. Overall though its a pretty decent looking game.

I played the demo just now & I can confirm that it was just as what I thought it was going to be. 10 yrs in the making for this? I mean the way they portray the story is cool but when it comes down to the gameplay I wasn't impressed. Very repetitive.

Great Demo overall, the music, art direction are amazing. It's a shame that Silicon Knights started off using the Unreal Engine as it gives the game a generic look which hides the scale and beauty of the game levels.

While it took me a few minutes to get used to the controls, in about 5 minutes of use I was hooked.

The only downside I see to the game is the camera, but overall for me it's a must buy and might even be one of my favorite games this year.

All I can say is...

Rental buy it when it's used for 20 bucks. While SK always were great story tellers to me the gameplay just doesn't cut it. Plus I remember reading that the core game is really short. Another example of a game with too many delays and issues trying to combine too many genres. Unless there is some drastic change between now and next months release date I don't see it improving or changing much. Maybe coop will be this games saving grace?

I do give MS and SK a nod for having the balls to put out a demo before the game was actually released. If Ninja Gaiden 2 would have had one before release I would have never purchased it.

Played through the Demo twice now. I think this game is deeper then most people think. There are a ton of items to gather and change with the runes you can acquire. The various weapons are fun to play with too and the Hammers are a smash. Sure the controls take a little getting use to, but once you do it is fairly easy to start ranking in some combos. I like how this controls better then Heavenly Sword did.

Graphically I think this game will get better when the game comes out. The demo is not bad, but the level is dark. It is not Gears of War worthy, but it is not all that bad either.

I think overall though most people are going to end up bashing it since there has been so much delay time with it. I think SK set out to make an ambitious game or series and did not quite achieve that level. It really is not all that awkward of a game, but I think the criticism of it will drive more people away. I am looking forward to playing it online (it's to bad this is not included in the Demo after you beat it the first time on Single player) with some friends. With the amount of upgrades and weapons and armor I think this will be one game I go back and play a few times.

Too Human is a little too late. I'm also tired of the generic space marine beginnings complete with bad ass and loser characters, oh and a drop ship that well, drops a car. I thought I was watching a Aliens meets Halo 2 rip off for a minute. The graphics also didn't impress me but maybe it was just that part of the game. Maybe I'll try the demo again or maybe I'll just delete it but I won't be buying it.

i just finished playing the demo and i liked it. The rooms are big and have alot of broken walls and statues everywhere,theres alot of enemies on screen and the graphics are above average .the music is good and the controls are ok but the right stick seems a little stiff.I do like the graphic style and the character models looks very nice .There * NOT * big and bulky like most unreal engine characters

im not big on Hack/slash games, for sure this doesnt compare to Diablo. But I still enjoyed it. I played for about 20 minutes, but then had to go to work. I the premise is interesting the story and execution. The graphics might not be the best, but seriously games dont have to have the best graphics to be enjoyable. Once you get past the controls that nobody is use to, it becomes second nature. the guns, the attacks are all easy and fluid. But, that only enhnaces the repetition. Which I think is the biggest downfall. Hopefully the final product has more variety but I highly doubt it. Still its better than HAZE and LAIR. Still just an average game, maybe not worth 60 bucks. but definalty rent it or pick it up used...

Im a big PS3 guy and had an eye on Too Human for my 360. Kotaku has talked a lot of Sh*t on the game, but I enjoyed the demo. The game is not ground breaking on game play or graphics (I find God of War better looking, the PS2 one!) but the level up system and the bouncing you do between kill to kill is damn cool. It's just an early demo, here's hoping they clean it up in the post production process. At this point I wold give it a 8.5/10.

I only played the demo for a little while, but found it very enjoyable. I can see how some people would dislike the game, but to me it is very fun and entertaining. The gameplay far, far outweighs the average graphics. Probably a buy for me.

SO i really enjoyed the demo. The combat is a bit awkward at first, but by the end of the demo i got the hang of it and has killing evil robots in style baby! on the negative side the Camrea still does suck. No twos ways about it, its just plain BAD. The story confused the heck out of me in the beginning. I'm guessing its a latter mission so when the full game comes out it will all make scene.

I loved the demo, and I can see where the comparisons to Diablo come from.
This game isn't going to be for everyone. You're in control of battle direction, but not actual moves. Much like the point and click system found on PCs, or in most MMOs. If you don't think you'd enjoy that, skip it.

I downloaded the demo. I quite enjoyed it actually. The cutscenes are top-notch, the graphics are pretty nice and the level design is done well. My only problem is with the camera and the use of the right stick. The melee should have been mapped to the pad and the camera should be controlled by the right stick. Using the the right stick as the melee is a bad idea. The camera is far more important. However, the game isn't crap, after playing the demo through i got used to the controls. The upgrade system looks pretty well done and the story also looks great. I am still going to pick this game up, If we've learned anything from SK is that they can tell a good story, and the controls aren't bad enough that i don't want to play it (Lair comes to mind.)It may not be quite as good as i hoped but its still a solid story.

a few control issues but nothing you cant get used to. I like all the different meele weapons like the hammers and swords. I think it was a really long demo. Played it for little over an hour and only died twice.

Couldnt really figure out what to do once you hopped on top of those hammer arm big a$$ robots. Overall I liked it. Had a little halo flavor on some of the environments. Voice acting could be better.

I'd give it an 8 out of 10.

seriously. you can level up to 50 and collect sweet gear. the game scales like diablo 2 in accordance with your level. meaning if you go through the same area at level 40 it will be more difficult with better loot than if you went through it at level 10.

Pretty average game, not bad just average, but it pretty much sucks considering how long this game was in development. I thought Lair was actually pretty sweet besides the not so great graphics and controls. The patch made it better too.

At first I wasn't hugely impressed by it, but then I played it again and found myself intuitively better with the combat. There's definitely some cool stuff in this game. All told, the co-op is what I'll be buying it for. This will be lots of fun with friends. Maybe not $60 of fun, but I've got some trade-ins I've been saving.

Pity though, the story looks kinda weak. Kinda lame voice-acting and definitely the graphics could be better.

pretty generic, I don't see what people are seeing here. Perhaps they are just trying to hype it for the sake of it being an exclusive...like the Haze guys did. In denial until a review comes along and rips their little fanboy heart from their little spoonchested body and brings them back to reality.

You might as well play other hack n slash generic crap like Gauntlet, untold legends, and genji.

Seriously...stick to NG, GOW, and DMC.
