Videogamer: Race Driver: GRID Review

Videogamer writes: "Codemasters is well known as one of the leaders in the racing game market, but with the PGR, Forza and Gran Turismo series all leading the way the UK-based publisher needed Race Driver: GRID to be something special. With the most impressive visuals ever to grace a racing game, brilliant variety and game-making rewind feature GRID is everything we wanted it to be and quite possibly the racing game of 2008.

GRID sees you driving for a new racing team. To begin with you need to earn enough cash to buy your team's first car, and from then on it's all about earning cash and reputation points. Cash buys cars needed to enter new events and reputation points add up to earn new licences and access to new event tiers. Essentially, if you place on the podium regularly you'll soon be raking in the money and rep."

i liked grid i played the demo its cool, but how they compare it to gt5? how did they compare a full game with a game that did come out GT5 P is not the full game Gt5 will be way better than gt5 p...

by the way grid is nice and its in my buy list :).

Reviewers seem to love grid. I may have to download the demo and maybe pick up the game. I still have to pick up Dirt though, and that should be cheaper now so maybe Grid will have to wait.

DiRT is really fun. Especially with a good steering wheel.

Leave this to Gran Turismo or Forza..

I'm not that big of a racing fan, but I had Forza and Forza2. I liked the grid demo alot. The damage system was great.

Just read IGN's review and you'll know how the majority of magazines will score the game. To me GRID is a love/hate game and I feel most of the reviewers are afraid to give an honest opinion. Judging from the demo I'd give it 6/10, and I think PGR4 tops it in every department that counts. I thought the controls were worse than in Dirt. I know some of you don't agree at all, and you shouldn't. Not even if I was writing for IGN...

There are some games that you know for sure are either good or bad, it's obvious, but what amazes me are all the same scoring reviews of GRID. If you check the comments section on N4G on GRID articles you'll see that some people love it to death while some can't stand it at all. How come the reviews don't reflect this? How come you never see games that get review scores ranging from 3/10 to 9/10? To be honest, I think most writers have agreed on some kind of contract to give certain games higher scores no matter what they play like.
