Check out CVG's preview of Super Paper Mario.
Works better on paper. A criticism? Not a bit of it. For all the joy of catapulting a near-spherical plumber around in 3D space, it's arguable that, sometimes, Mario really does work better when he's wafer-thin. Super Paper Mario is brilliant - and we've got hours of exclusive hands-on play to prove it.
Featuring 2D characters in a 2D world, the game's closer in style to retro Mario than even New Super Mario Bros. Initially it's hard to recognise it as part of an RPG franchise stretching back to The Thousand Year Door on GameCube and the original Paper Mario on N64, as it's so heavily disguised with simple platform hopping and noggin-bopping combat. Even the controls are simple: you hold the remote sideways like a NES controller, so that you're only really employing the D-pad/two button setup that ye olde Mario titles would have required. Goombas, Koopas, shell-kicking, hidden blocks... this is all very familiar. Right? Wrong.
The Origami King beats Super Paper Mario as fastest selling in series.
Well when there are so few 1st party games, consumers are willing to buy regardless of reviews.
I'm having a very good time with this game, it's very comical with some dark tones.
''Super Paper Mario is an Action/RPG developed by Intelligent Systems and published by Nintendo. Originally released, in 20017, for the Nintendo Wii, the title eventually came to the Wii U via the eShop. You can purchase the digital download for $19.99.''
Tony writes: "Paper Mario has given us so many memorable bosses, trying to pick the top 10 is quite the challenge! They're good dogs, Brent."
Noooo! The Wii and Super Paper Mario don't run in 1080p!
Who gives a sh*t. Games are about having fun!
PS3 and Xbox360 fanboys would be all over this game if it was made under a different name, and had "photo-realistic" graphics.
Anyone who doesn't play this game because it doesn't have HD graphics and "realism" is going to miss out big! Their loss!... I'll be picking this one up for sure.
Another winner for Nintendo.
N64 version was killer ^^ GC one was pretty good. Hopefully the Wii version will bring back the killerness of the franchise. Sure you guys can say 'come on what is this Mario 567890?!?!?" You can say it and you have already but really your just upset that Sony or Microsoft doesn't have this kind of a franchise that never gets old, and that is Never.
"PS3 and Xbox360 fanboys would be all over this game if it was made under a different name, and had "photo-realistic" graphics"
.......uhmmm......this is sooo true.......i remember saying this to some people, and they came up with excuses. kinda sad though.
My mate showed me the cube one. Looked like something I would wanna play.
but by the sounds of it this it's an action RPG, and an amazing one at that. the fact that their virdict was "this is one of the best games we've ever played" speaks pretty highly for it i think.
I'll definatly pick this up.
