Blacklight Gearing Up For PS4 Launch - The sixthaxis

This year Sony has really upped the ante where indie games and free-to-play titles are concerned. During E3 and Gamescom 2013, the console giant paraded a wealth of titles coming to PlayStation 4, one of which is Zombie Studios’ Blacklight: Retribution.
For the uninitiated, Retribution is a follow-up to Blacklight: Tango Down, a downloadable shooter which launched on PSN/XBLA some years ago.

Free-To-Play, so i'll give it a try, looks pretty good.

Ilovetheps53818d ago

Definitely give it a try. I play it on PC and it's a real fun game. And yeah, you have nothing to lose since it is free.

I'm very excited for these new consoles and but not so much the games. I can't wait till next year to start getting the games that are only available and possible on these console so i can truly see the beauty of these new machines.

Bring on GT7, Whatever Sony Santa monica is working on, Infamous SS and The last Uncharted Drakes Daxter or whatever Naughty Dog's next game will be.

Come on validate my early purchase baby. Because lets be honest outside of KZ:SF for the PS4 and maybe Forza 5 on the X1 these launch games just aren't doing it. I'm looking at you Ghost. *Straight face*

True but launches are never spectacular anyway. I mean launch games themselves go the bargain bin and by the time the generation ends, we'll probably be looking at games like Shadowfall and laughing at how bad it looks. But out of all the recent launches, I think Killzone looks likes it was really though out and wasn't just made too pad the lineup or show off the graphics. I mean it looks good enough that this is the first time I preordered a console. Being a launch game is like a curse though, because no matter how great the game may be we will see tons of copies at game stores and clearance bins in a few years.

Jamaicangmr3818d ago

Yeah true they never are and this is the 1st time for me as well. I waited 6 months to get my PS3. I too think i will really enjoy KZ:SF as i love the series and always get alot of mileage out of the installments. Maybe i'm just excited and can't wait to be wowed.

KwietStorm_BLM3818d ago

Well I'll be playing Killzone, Battlefield 4, Warframe, and War Thunder well past next year, so these launch games are definitely "doing it" for me. It's always a bonus having a fun multiplayer game to boot up at any tune between new releases. It keeps the new game fresh, and I'm just having fun regardless.

Jamaicangmr3818d ago

While i agree with what you are saying because i too have BF4, Rivals and Black Flag lined up. My point is they aren't wowing me. Honestly they feel like fillers until the the truly evolutionary stuff starts coming out.

That's what i mean that's what's not "Doing it" for me.

Flipflopp3819d ago

Honestly I think it's a good move to get the game ready for PS4 launch. There's only going to be 3 main FPS at retail when the system launches, (Killzone, BF4, COD). Better to get the game game out now before the market gets flooded with games.

Sm00thNinja3819d ago (Edited 3819d ago )

Looks like crap in all honesty. If this looks next gen to you good lord.... Sticking to BF4 and KZ at launch

KwietStorm_BLM3818d ago

Are you aware that this has been on PC for quite a while, and it looks the same? It's a fun game. That's all that matters. When the hell did so many people get caught in the same "doesn't look next gen, pixel counting, 1080p60 or no buy" crap? There is a metric gigton of digital games RIGHT NOW, that don't "look" like retail games, but what they are, are great games. Mob mentality is a helluva drug.

Obviously PC wasn't cuttin it, PS4 is a Juggernaut, makes sense.

letsa_go1899d ago (Edited 1899d ago )

That sucks

Majors1899d ago

Shut the servers down but let people host their own and keep these games active for those who want to play. Its bullshit when they kill a game completely when they could easy patch it for hosting / creating online content

Blacklight Retribution Servers & Official Support Ending in March, All Items Made Free

Hardsuit Labs has mentioned that the Blacklight Retribution servers are shutting down on March 11 for PC, though PS4 version will continue as is. All items in the PC store are now free.

LuzCB19871901d ago

Another one bites the dust.

Father__Merrin1901d ago

Remember playing this when I first got a ps4. Never good news to see games shut down I guess one day online only games can bite the dust

Sgt_Slaughter1901d ago (Edited 1901d ago )

This is why buying into these sort of games are a bad idea.

BlacKJesu51900d ago

That's like saying buying cod at 60 is bad..cause you know a new version is coming and you won't play last years

Sgt_Slaughter1900d ago

Not even slightly the same. I can still play Modern Warfare 2 because, guess what, it still works online AND it has offline modes. This applies to I think every Call of Duty game.

With Blacklight, everything you've ever purchased is gone forever after the servers are gone, and you can never play the game again.

BlacKJesu51899d ago

Is there no other f2p games.....Apex legends just came out..play the new version

masterfox1900d ago

See this is why online mp only games effing sucks and definitely will never support them. ;)

Giblet_Head1900d ago

Depending how much of a cult following it has, it could be revived by some mod team in the distant future. Similar cases have happened with games like 2142 and Star Wars Galaxies.

excaliburps1900d ago

Yes, I see this happening if the fanbase is there, too.
