Super Bomberman Retro Reflection

Vince from Awesome Games writes: 'In the age of the online connectivity, local multiplayer has become an endangered species. Playing with friends used to be an excuse for a “man date” at each others houses, now all you need is DSL cable and a headset. Having the whole screen to yourself is indeed a luxury, particularly with the field of view needed with first person shooters. But as recently demonstrated in Super Mario 3D World, having a friend or family member able to pick up a controller and play along is an experience that should not be lost to gaming’s history books.'

I played it aswell. They need to bring it to PSN with online Zombies Ate My Neighbours

That game is so fun.

Two games I decided to play recently were Shining Force II and Phantasy Star II on the Genesis. There are a lot of underrated RPGs on that system, since everyone focused on the SNES for RPGs.

Those two series are my favorite from sega. to this day i have not beaten shining in the darkness. I got lost in a dungeon a loooong time ago and just said F it...and moved on to shining force and other shining games.

Phantasy star II...the death of Nei (spolier) was a shocker the first time i ever played the game. i tried and tried to keep her alive on subsequent playthroughs and no matter if she survived the fight....she still died.

Another good RPG series on genesis (sega cd) is Lunar. it has been remastered for other platforms but the sega cd is the original that i still have to this day.

Y's on the turbografx was also a well received action/adventure/rpg series. Dragon Slayer is another good turbo AARPG

True. I agree. It's pretty awesome. Have you played the HD remake? It's definitely worth your time. The online multiplayer works flawlessly.

The visuals and music - especially the music - of Final Fantasy VI have held up extremely well. What an amazing game.

CanadianTurtle3940d ago

I second that.

Final Fantasy 6 is a must. There is no doubt that it is the best in the series.

Also, another retro game I would strongly recommend is Crash Bandicoot 3: Warped. I think the gameplay still holds up.

contradictory3940d ago

there is no "best" in the series
it's all about opinions...
( some insano i knew liked XIII the best... that was just awful )

FateoftheGame3940d ago

Personally, it doesn't bother me if someone calls any of the games "the best." People have the right to feel that way, and it can start some pretty interesting conversation, too, if everyone remains calm.

pat_11_53940d ago

I think it's by far the best in the series. I'd love to see some sort of a remake.
