PikiGeek: Stop me if you’ve heard this story before. Whale Shark meets Dog. They fall in love. Dog gets kidnapped by evil people. Whale shark chases evil people into space to rescue beloved dog and has to dodge missiles being launched from aforementioned evil people. We all know that classic love story, right? Well Astro Shark from Unit9 does a great job explaining that story through a short video and then we’re off in space controlling the shark and blowing up rockets.
While many indie games suffer from the same problems as their AAA peers, getting mired down in retreaded subject material and clichéd mechanics, the most interesting titles recognize their freedom and show no fear in taking advantage of it. The qualifier of “indie” should indicate that you're in for a unique and inventive experience. So here’s Hardcore Droid’s list of the games most representative of that so far in 2013.
This is an undeniably well-made and engaging title that I keep trying to conquer. But make no mistake, I hate you Astro Shark and I hope they jettison your dog boyfriend into outer space and he suffocates and then his head implodes.
