NZGamer: "It’s a double-miss for Gearbox after the awful Duke Nukem Forever. Aliens: Colonial Marines might be best jettisoned into space alongside it."
Too many games aren't given a second shot. We at VGU choose which games we would love to see receive a sequel.
The Saboteur - criminally underrated and a fantastic mechanic of bringing colour back to Nazi-occupied Paris.
The article lists Bulletstorm, Sleeping Dogs, and Aliens: Colonial Marines.
Player 2 takes some quiet time to look back at some of the most hyped failures of the past 10 years.
Can't argue with any of those really, but I would add Resident Evil Operation Racoon City and Metal Gear Survive to that list. Both terrible games from good franchises.
Bulletstorm, I actually liked the gameplay but the atrocious writing and characters made me despise the game by the end of it.
Thanks to a bustling mod community on Steam, Gearbox's Aliens: Colonial Marines actually has a stellar multiplayer experience to offer these days.
Why am I not surprised? SEGA never seemed right to me as the Publisher 1st off, pushing this game out so far into 2013 was a HUGE error in judgement, striking while the iron was hot, taking advantage of hype that was built up last year with trailers etc meant it should have been released no later than Fall/Christmas 2012.
The attention span of the casual gamer is very short, but despite the reviews, would have made a great Christmas gift in 2012 & sold more if release then. What a shame after such a long period between its original release date & now that this game still lacks polish, like what were they doing this whole time then ???
This game most likely will still appeal to core Alien fans but not much else, will be at bargain prices ($19.99 or lower) b4 you can blink on Amazon.com, Bad for Publisher/Developer Good for Consumer. I'll pick it up at the right price in a few months.
