Dead Island: Riptide GAME Exclusive Special Edition Revealed

The forthcoming Dead Island: Riptide is one of the most highly anticipated releases currently set for current-generation formats this Easter, and following the recent announcement of the questionable Zombie Bait Edition, UK videogames specialist retailer GAME has revealed their own exclusive pack. Set to launch alongside the standard packages product and the aforementioned collector’s edition, Dead Island: Riptide GAME Exclusive Special Edition will be available for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC.

Can't stand GAME nowadays, one thing they were forced to agree to when they were allowed to take over Gamestation was that they had to leave both sets of shops open to compete. That didn't last long though, they're converting all the Gamestations to GAME stores and bumping the prices up to stupid levels again. At least when both shops were present, the prices were a lot cheaper.

Whoever allowed the takeover was either A) a f***ing moron or B) paid off >:(

You must be delusional, last time those stores were even remotely competitive is before GAME bought Gamestation out over 10 years ago.

When they bought Gamestation they figured they had cornered the market and both stores prices were practically a mirrored image with slight differences here and there. They didn't factor that supermarkets like Asda and Tesco would eventually be the real competition.

Only people who use GAME these days are parents who don't know any better with kids that want to trade in 18 old games and still pay towards the game they want to buy.

When both stores were present, they used to charge at least £5 less than the RRP. Now GAME have everything permanently at RRP.

Guessing you haven't used one in a while, but at times you can pick up some great bargains, and during stock clearance some rare gems. I picked up the original cardboard ICO for £10 brand new during one :)

The main reason to visit the shop is I prefer to browse games than see a digital image online. I usually buy online though :)

GAME and Gamestation have always had a minimum of £40 RRP on every new title, have done for years. In recent times that crept up to £45 for the likes of Gran Turismo or anything else they know that will sell.

I do pop in GAME whenever I walk past one, to see if there are any deals or if anything has changed. But seeing pre-owned games priced higher than new games (Soul Calibur 5 - PO £25 | New - £17.99 was a good example recently) just shows their business practices are a complete shambles.

Whats even worse is a stores like Argos, Tesco and Asda constantly undercut them on prices. These are stores that offer a bit of everything. GAME just have to manage one thing, games...and they can't even get that right.

Add on top of that refusal to price match instore depending on the attitude of the staff, refusal to price match their OWN WEBSITE (sometimes its cheaper, well nearly always) and failing to honour pre-orders last christmas (Mass Effect 3 anyone?) all add up to a company profile that is laughable at best.

Like you I primarily buy online but the missus has a 10% discount in tesco so I often shop there these days. ;)

Sadly, while I get what you are saying your point was defeated in your first sentence.

With the exception of budget titles, the RRP of new releases in the UK is £49.99. EA and Activision put out £54.99 RRPs, hence the likes of FIFA and CoD having crept up to £44.99 in stores.
