New ENB Skyrim Mod Shows Glimpses of Next Gen Graphics

We have a new mod for The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim and it is supposed to make the game look much realistic and also fixes the particles in the game, and considering it’s been a year since Skyrim was released, this mod is the pinnacle of visual overhaul.

By next gen you mean... tweaked the bloom and colors.... maby...

Norrison4108d ago

Wrong, don't make statements on topics you don't even know about, ENBs are a lot more than tweaked bloom and colors.

@topic
Doesn't look that good, there are better ENBs out there with better DOF; better looking games too.

And personally I don't think next gen consoles will be able to run games at this graphical quality judging by DF's specs.

I know that ENB is a shader mod that modifies the game DLL to add very limited shader effects to the game. Next time you rant someone explain why their wrong, not go "Your wrong, omg your so freaking wrong" For the record, im actually pretty right, ENB doesnt actually do much beyond those 2 things.

Full HDR, dinamyc God Rays, SSAO, SMAA, DOF, Shadows, Reflection, Tone mapping, lenz fx, vignetting and SSIL are mroe than simple shaders, once again you don't know anything about ENB, you can use it without color fliters if you dislike tweaked colors.

Hmmm, Game already has Full HDR(this mod probably uses more bloom), as well as SSAO support and shadows as well as several Antialiasing features via in game or drivers that compete with SMAA.

Vignette is hardly a graphics feature, and SSIL has no visual impact. Sooo yea.... I mean DOF, god rays, lens effects and tone mapping are nice, But there are console games with that feature list.

In fact coming to mind, i think Crysis 2 and hitman on xbox had every feature on that list, except maby SSIL, and i think BF3 had a comparable line up of features too. Honestly, DX9 shaders just really cant be next gen.

Hey man, you said there are better ones out there than suggested in the article. Any suggestions on your favourite .ini/.fx packs? I just installed this a few days ago and haven't tried many out.. i think i'm rocking whatever the STEP guide suggests, Skyrealism(?) I'd love to hear which sets of settings you are a fan of.

ENB blew me away btw.. I did the same thing replaying Oblivion a year after release with that OOO mod, and it breathed new life into an already excellent game. I've probably tried 20+ Nexus mods with Skyrim now, and while the modding community for TES is always generally impressive, ENB is a whole other beast. I'm sad I didn't hear about it before-- I will probably reinstall GTA4 + ENB later...

Gotta side with you man... anyone saying ENB only adds limited shader effects obviously needs to be informed.

I'm Replaying Skyrim (again), and So Should You

Replaying Skyrim after 13 years is a reminder of the progress made in western RPGs over the last decade, but also what's been lost.

anast13d ago

I tried, but it's a poorly made game that insults its customers.

lucian22913d ago

nah, only mods make it decent, and even then it's bad, and this is after i modded for at least 3 years

Nittdarko13d ago

Funnily enough, I'm about to play it for the first time in VR with 1000 mods to make the game playable, as is the Bethesda way

The 7 Best Western RPGs: Immersive Adventures

RPGs are often huge, sprawling endeavours. With limited playtime, we have to choose wisely, so here's the best western RPGs available today.

"I started playing games yesterday" the List... Meh!

How about a few RPGs that deserve some love instead?
1 - Alpha Protocol - Now on GOG
2 - else Heart.Break()
3 - Shadowrun Trilogy
4 - Wasteland 2
5 - UnderRail
6 - Tyranny
7 - Torment: Tides of Numenera

And for a bonus game that flew under the radar:
8 - Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden

Loved Alpha Protocol in all it's glorious jank. Great game.

SimpleSlave13d ago (Edited 13d ago )

Not only glorious jank, but the idea that the story can completely change depending on what you do, or say, or side with, makes it one of the most forward thinking games ever. The amount of story permutation is the equivalent of a Hitman level but in Story Form. And it wasn't just that the story changed, no, it was that you met completely new characters, or missed them, depending on your choices. Made Mass Effect feel static in comparison.

Alpha Protocol was absolutely glorious, indeed. And it was, and still is, more Next Gen than most anything out there these days. In this regard at least.

Pity.
