An open letter to Hideo Kojima

The Void:

Dear Mr. Kojima,

I think it’s pretty obvious that you are definitely going to read this open letter. And I think it’s even more obvious that, after reading it, the mad ramblings of a crazed Metal Gear fan who isn’t particularly smart will completely change your mind and alter the future of your productions. With this in mind, please forgive me if I come off as a bit harsh, as I love everything you’ve ever touched.

Well written, but I still think a prequel involving The Boss, Big Boss and the children would be an amazing idea and I think that MGS5 will feature multiple timelines that will have The Boss & Cobras in one act, Big Boss in another and the Snakes in the final act. Showing what was going on with Liquid and Solidus(and Raiden) while Big Boss and Solid Snake were tearing each other apart and of course it would be nice to give us more details about Zero and Ocelot and show how The Patriots evolved and the war that occurred between Big Boss and Zero and how The Patriots(with Master Miller) shaped our hero Solid Snake to fight and face his own flesh and blood father. These plot holes are very interesting to cover in Metal Gear Solid 5 and I think they will answer lots of questions that Metal Gear fans wanted clarified. Soon, we will witness the premier trailer/teaser for MGS5(July) and hopefully things should get clearer about the direction Kojima-san will be taking.

One important note that should not be missed, never underestimate the creative mind Hideo Kojima has because this man managed to keep this series kicking for 25 years and every entry in the franchise was simply mind blowing. Expect the unexpected with Kojima and the future of the Metal Gear franchise will always be bright under Kojima's vision.

Always be faithful.

I just wish he actually WANTED to continue Metal Gear Solid... Though people keep wanting him to make more. Honestly, I think MGS 5 is going to curse him either way. On one hand, if he does something involving Solid Snake again, people will be mad his story didn't end on MGS4. On the other hand, if he doesn't have Solid Snake in it, people will be mad that he's not in it.

He's kinda backed into a wall here, and I'm not sure how he'll manage to get out. But I certainly won't underestimate him. MGS4 was the reason I bought a PS3 and one of the only collector's editions I've ever bought. I know MGS5 will be amazing in every way, and I can't wait to see it, no matter what he decides to do with the series.

I like MGS but it's time for people to stop harrasing him about making another game. I just wish he would put his foot down and say enough is enough, i mean if he's happy making MGS, then he should continue doing it but he's forced to do it basically. Let Kojima work on new IP

Awesome! Way to start a letter telling the reader you are about to insult them!

MWH4314d ago (Edited 4314d ago )

"as I love everything you’ve ever touched." that's a disturbing notion, are you sure about that?

but seriously, not bad.

solidworm4314d ago

Good article but seriously the MGS games are so different to anything else out there I could play them forever so Hideo......keep em coming baby.

Hideo kojima is no david cage.
In the 80's, 90's hideo pushed story's in gaming but now he hasnt made anything original in over 10 years.
I look to david cage and quantic dream now to provide original risky narrative games.

I mean MGS5? not sure i can respect kojima anymore.. he's sold out.

The Metal Gear Series Has Sold Over 60 Million Copies Worldwide

In a new corporate update, Konami has revealed that since its launch in 1987, the Metal Gear series has sold over 60 million copies worldwide.

Well done Metal Gear, my second favourite gaming franchise behind Resident Evil, i still hope Bluepoint are working on a Metal Gear Solid remake for PS5, that would be my gaming dream.

When Bluepoint teased their next game at Christmas the unrevealed game was in a plain cardboard box with a upside down exclamation point........it surely could only mean one thing.......SNAAKKKKEEEEE.

I've stared at the picture for a while and I don't see an upside down exclamation mark anywhere on that box. I'm more puzzled by the Leviathan axe than anything else to be honest.

Notellin254d ago

He's reaching. It's just the bow on the box upside down.

"that would be my dream"

Not Twin Snakes? The first "remake"

Now if only they would do a re-release for current gen systems.

It’s a hell of a series... except for V, but man I remember when Snake Eater came out. It really made me start looking at games differently like more than just being “gamey”. Awesome Intro and a hell of story. The end when the flowers turn from white to red, just mwah!

Nyxus1167d ago

It certainly has some amazing moments. MGS4 is my favorite but they're all great.

Z5011167d ago

GZ & PP had the best gameplay though.

CrimsonWing691167d ago

Oh, I won’t argue with you there and I’d say the beginning was pretty fantastic.

Problem is the game was unfinished and they rushed it out as such. I was not a fan of repeating missions and the ridiculous “open world” that was so barren and had me running for 5 minutes to get to an objection point.

There’s bits and parts I liked with V, but it pales in comparison to my experience with 1-4.

Depends on how you look at it, tbh. The first 4 games had far better and more memorable level design, boss fights and set pieces. MGS5 feels and plays a bit better than MGS4 but it's missing so much of what made the previous games fun to me. Even Peace Walker had lots of mech boss fights. I always thought they were saving the interesting boss designs for MGS5.

MGS5 feels like a series of side missions where almost EVERYTHING that can happen is system based. MGS4 was very system-based (particularly Act 1 and Act 2 where you can fight alongside the militia and gain their favour) but had lots of insane scripted events and distinct acts/chapters as well.

MGS5's open world was also quite hollow, and making your way to missions and repeatedly going back to Mother Base was a pain sometimes. I've never met anyone in real life who wasn't disappointed by MGS5, and I think that goes beyond the unfinished story.
