LAMe... Come on kotaku...
guitarded77  +   1481d ago
I used to play the original NES like that kinda... fingers over the top and controller backward. I was faster with my fingers than with my thumbs. I don't think I could do it with a modern controller though... too many buttons.
KaBaW  +   1481d ago
@bwazy -
We ALL know that you, sir, do indeed play with your wang..
I mean, c'mon .. honestly, who else in this world would?!

Just playing(:
cannon8800  +   1481d ago
I found the clicking sound of the buttons to be pretty relaxing. I ended up zoning off and only listening to the buttons. Damn you buttons!
spicelicka  +   1481d ago
wtf is wrong with you, i found it to be quite annoying

cheap way of getting hits
milohighclub  +   1481d ago
Now if that was how we was taught to play from the start, it could of had a screen on the back/front wii u style...
kneon  +   1481d ago
I just picked up a DS3 and held it this way and it really could work well once you get used to it. Rather than having 2 fingers per hand you can make use of 3 fingers per hand. You can use the buttons and dpad without taking any fingers off the sticks.
stevenhiggster  +   1481d ago
When you put it like that it totally makes sense!
But no, I probably won't be adopting that style.
Blaine  +   1481d ago
Even without trying I can imagine it's hard to access both triggers effectively without hitting the other one this way.

Also, must be very difficult to properly move the sticks.

But hey, I haven't tried it. Tell me I'm wrong. I always thought controllers could have more buttons on the underside, but this is doing it wrong!
kneon  +   1481d ago
I won't be trying it either, the learning curve is going to be too steep and it probably wouldn't help for most games even if I did manage to relearn to use the controller this way.
KaBaW  +   1481d ago
@[...] Blaine -
My thoughts, exactly. It'd be a pain to use the analogs, I'd say.
Everything would be in reverse; I can't even get used to inverted controls!

.. and that's using the control in the correct way! D:
Ramses3  +   1481d ago
Lol I kinda wanna try this now.
BattleTorn  +   1481d ago
That's how I've been using it the entire time..... /sarcasm
BitbyDeath  +   1481d ago
Wait, people use the controller with their hands?
Oldman100  +   1481d ago
So that's why the triggers are convex. :p
Fylus  +   1481d ago
So Kotaku ran out of ideas for "news" articles so they wrote an entire one about the way some guy held his controller? Okay. Keep up the "good" work Kotaku.
Series_IIa  +   1481d ago
Who said it was news?

Kotaku is a blog style website which does a bit of everything.

So congrats to you, keep up the misinformed shoddy work.
Fylus  +   1481d ago
Regardless of Kotaku being a "Blog" site, N4G is a NEWS site and this article was posted as NEWS. Besides, Kotaku is notorious for posting inane "blogs" that very few people even agree with.
Series_IIa  +   1481d ago
You said "So Kotaku ran out of ideas for "news" articles"

Yet Kotaku didn't class it as news, but as a story... N4G classed it as a piece of news by proxy.
Fylus  +   1481d ago
It doesn't matter what I said, the point is that it was accepted as news on THIS website. If you can't understand that, just let it go. I guess you'll have to anyways since you're out of bubbles.
jc48573  +   1481d ago
you know what, this is a great discovery. Gives sony more ideas.
BigPenguin  +   1481d ago
Honestly, I am not at all surprised it was for armored core. I always feel I need 2 more fingers per hand when I play that game. Have to press so many buttons at once.
Beastradamus  +   1481d ago
That's nothing. People that are left handed playing right handed guitars upside down, now that's impressive.

I know a left handed person who plays the bass upside down. He must have struggled a fair bit in the early stages of learning lol.
salinidus  +   1481d ago
it look weird but lets hope it plays like starhawks beta does check this out.

Doesn't seem that hard. All you have to do is memorize the buttons and realize that you're holding the controller backwards so everything is reversed in a way.
TopDudeMan  +   1481d ago
I know a guy who uses his pinky for the shoulder buttons, his thumb for the analogue sticks and the remaining 3 fingers for x, o , square and triangle and the d-pad. Could not believe it. It looked so uncomfortable.
Gambit_the_White  +   1481d ago
Hahah, I actually tried that (just for laughs of course) yesterday. Felt really weird...
t0mmyb0y  +   1481d ago
Trying to look cool?
skrug  +   1481d ago
I knew I was holding the controller wrong....
Vortex3D  +   1481d ago
Every thought 99% of us are holding the controller wrong all these time? I always thought having to move my right thumb to press the other 4 face buttons is illogical. Some games have quicktime multi-pressing buttons such as Square+Triangle or X+O or Square+O. Hold the controller backwards and it's easy to do it.

Maybe PS3 controller designers also designed L2 and R2 in mind for holding the controller backwards.

Only X360 controller is design for forward holding because of left analog stick location and LT and RT.

Now think of why most of us type using QWERTY layout on the keyboard. We already know the reason keys are layout as QWERTY but still we insisted to use the poor layout just because most of us were learned the poor keyboard layout and now it's difficult to change.

Lol, anybody can hold the controller like that, take a picture and say; "I play like that!".

indubitably  +   1481d ago
Well at least he found a way to use the awful ps3 controller.
Fylus  +   1481d ago
Now that's just utterly irreverent, trolling.
Rivitur  +   1481d ago
My handicapped godbrother plays invetered because he can't move his fingers to reach the triggers so this isn't impressive at all. (And yea he is pretty damn good at games for a man in a wheelchair)
SandwichHammock  +   1481d ago
Back in the day of the NES I had a family friend that was 2 years younger than me that played with the controller facing him, but upside down(the cord was at the bottom), so all the directions where reversed. He played all games like this and I remember him played Mario 3 and absolutely killing it...that must've not been good in some developmental way.

If you've seen how Tekken's best player in tourneys holds his PSX controller you'd be surprised.
LettingGo  +   1481d ago
I'm pretty sure we've all tried this at one point or another. Not sure why this is news...
coojo  +   1481d ago
i play cod like this
CrimsonEngage  +   1481d ago
PS3 controller is already the least comfortable of the 3 consoles. Let's take it to the extreme and hold it backwards...
