I think so. I can't say exactly when, but it's clear that gaming journalism is evolving. The industry would evolve as a whole if the people who covered it got more shine, but it takes time. I see gaming journalism going through an awkward phase now, but it'll get better. It gets better everyday if you ask me.

Nope.

There'll be a lot of big corporate retards dumping money into magazines and websites with journalists who have zero experience with the gaming industry but maybe dabble in some tech and have a strong background in literature and journalism. The result? A lot of articles about video games and the future of gaming that most gamers will roll their eyes at. It's already happening right now.

While there are tons of fanboys ruining the industry with tripe (some of which comes from sites frequently appearing on N4G -- no need to name names) I do think the only legitimate video game journalism comes from industry-insiders who are gamers themselves. I like what Joystiq has to offer and a few other blogs along that line.

The main problem is that I just don't see video game journalism ever becoming "legit" in the eyes of mainstream and I certainly don't see mainstream journalism ever appealing to the core gamer that keeps the core industry afloat. Oftentimes mainstream journalists just don't have a clue about the industry, and I doubt this will change anytime soon.
