They can leave their rigs on for hours torrenting and seeeding, but dare they let a game connect to the internet passively in the background? HEAVEN FORBID!

Apparently, you missed the entire point of why this DRM tactic is bad news. Either that or you're trolling (hard to think that there are just so many trolls on this site ready to troll over ANYTHING).

And I believe you being a troll because...why else would you say something that misses the entire point so blatantly?

@ElementX: This guy created Minecraft, which is, for some odd reason I cannot explain, one of the biggest gaming phenomenons right now. It's very popular, so he's been doing SOMETHING right. So it's not like he doesn't know what he's talking about.

And...you CONDONE what Ubisoft did with their bait-and-switch on Steam? You CONDONE them putting this ultra-restrictive DRM onto their games? It doesn't curb piracy, it uses piracy as the scapegoat to get support for something that is only there so they can screw over legit consumers, and it only encourages the issue that they claim to be fighting with said DRM!

Then again, why am I trying? We already know what a lot of the people on this site that comment consist of: 13 year old brats that care more about being loud and trolling constantly on every single article rather than saying something that's actually constructive.

Restrictive? I have played many ubisoft games with this DRM On it and i have yet to delve into any restrictions lol.. my internet is on all the time so being connected to the internet whilst playing does not affect me just like it will not affect anyone else especially if your answer to this is piracy.. that only clarfies that you actually have the internet so :)

And most ubisoft games will pause the game or save where you were in case of a minor dip in your internet connection which shudnt be the case tbf...

and if your arguement is i want to play it offline.. then tough lol.. thats not ubisofts fault thats pirates fault for making publishers go this far in protecting there games.

And if your internet connection happens to go down for whatever reason, or it's slow, or on a peak period, or whatever freak issue can (and in many cases DO) pop up on even the best ISP connections while you're in the middle of a game? Don't think that could be an issue, right?

And don't give me that shit about "oh, it's the PIRATES fault for this being needed!" If you have followed ANY of this, you would know of how utterly ridiculous that sounds. Companies will use ANY excuse to make more money. Ubisoft doesn't exactly have the best reputation in consumer goodwill, and have been the kind of company you need to read between the lines at their statements.

So, you're basically telling me that you're okay with Ubisoft pulling a bait-and-switch on you? Really? We're going to excuse THAT, now? Has this war against piracy made you THAT delusional?

EDIT: Nevermind on the last question, because I just read your response to tsunami901 below...it seems this whole thing HAS made you that delusional!

You've bent over and are allowing them to fuck you senseless without the courtesy of lube, and you seem to like the feeling! End of...

Sure they can. But, what happens when the servers the DRM uses to authenticate the game go down? How are you then supposed to play the game?
Heartnet  +   637d ago
Yeh thats the only problem :) but that only happened once with AC2 and that wasnt Ubisofts fault neccesarily so :)

Blame Pirates.. end of

Just because somebody created a game doesn't make his/her opinion any more or less valid than the next person.
Pikajew  +   637d ago
It makes there point more valid because they made a game and people can pirate it

This pertains as far as the debacle, but Ubisoft lied about the DRM. What more do you want ElementX?
