Another game, another major bug on release. *sigh*
lexington  +   1950d ago
Another game on ps3 another bug "sigh". I'm sure a "patch" is on the way.
360 version bugless and smooth. No patch needed.

you joined 7 days wont last long lol
metalanime  +   1950d ago
that doesnt sound like a glitch at all, the user probably turned of the system at the wrong time.
Anime-Vixen  +   1950d ago
LOL this article would actually be funny if someone filed a lawsuit over this.

Why wait for someone to profit on your idea!? Contact your lawyer asap.
SpinalRemains138  +   1950d ago
Yeah wow uhh.......... this sucks. I am only 5 hours in, but could you imagine losing 30 hrs of data? I think I'd give up and put that shit back in the orange envelope and get me some Star Wars II.

Oddly enough I was thinking of memory stick today. Could have been a Castlevania omen!

lol "a handful" of gamers? So we're talking what; 4 out of the 100,000 that are playing it right now?

gonna back this up, been playing on hard difficulty and i feel like this is taking forever just to get through even though its not a hard game. I would hate to loose my data
TANUKI  +   1950d ago
PROBABLY one of the most devastating/annoying glitches in all games. Thankfully, I haven't had to worry about that on any of my games (not just for PS3).
xino  +   1950d ago
not again!
Just backup your save files or make a second save in your hdd!
This is next gen, save slots are barely unlimited
Fishy Fingers  +   1950d ago
I wouldnt be to concerned untill the number of reports increases, first they state "handful", then,

"In one instance after trying to load the game a player was greeted by a message saying: ’save file corrupt, will now overwrite, press X to continue’."

But yeah would still be a massive pain in the ass if it happened to you, hopefully they get a patch out for both systems sharpish.
Neko_Mega  +   1950d ago
Wow I haven't had any problem, in less you are dumb and turn off the system while it is saving.
Michael-Jackson  +   1950d ago
True. So does this game have auto save?
enkeixpress  +   1950d ago
It does indeed, my good sir. :3
showtimefolks  +   1950d ago
i bet you that's what happend
a lot of time we don't think we are doing something wrong it happend to me with borderlands and i was at level 55 lol now at 30 again
Neko_Mega  +   1950d ago
funny thing to
Ps3 can rebuild your data, which means if this did happen then the ps3 once turn off and turn back on. Should start trying to get the data that was lost.

I had a use ps3 slim for awhile an it would do this everytime, it has been threw more then 10 owners and has been reformat more then once.

So like I said, if it happens the ps3 should be able to fix it and as for this being true? I think this is bs and they just added 360 to make it seem like they were just blaming ps3.
Neko_Mega  +   1950d ago
Wow, well you wrong to disagree but whatever.
showtimefolks  +   1950d ago
well i was going to buy this
day one but now i will either get it through gamefly or waite for a 50% price drop atleast they need a patch in this game to fix some minor bugs.

yeh i know this game is good but it should have been better i hope there is a patch to fix some camera problems if possible and also some other minor things to make this epic experience even better
TheBand1t  +   1950d ago
It happened to me today. I was on the third to last chapter and whammo, corrupt save file. Start over.

I was fuckin' pist.
kzl1989  +   1950d ago
Saving is for noobs. Play the whole game in one go!
crzyjackbauer  +   1950d ago
that should be an achivement or trophy
"do it old-school style"
Vortex3D  +   1950d ago
I got in the habit of making a copy of my saved game file after each chapter or making several hours of progress in any game.

That is the reason I hate games that have console locked saved game file. Making full hard drive backup each time is so impractical because it takes 8 hours to backup 200GB of data.

Does Castlevannia have console locked save game file?
ClaveroRulz  +   1950d ago
Looks like my game will remain unopened till they release a patch or something.

Memory Card FTW!!!!!
mricecreamman  +   1950d ago
gotta love my 60gig ps3...still have the ability to use memory cards! i back up my saves very frequent.
KwietStorm  +   1950d ago
You can save your data on anything with a USB cord. Doesn't have to be an original PS3.
TheMutator  +   1950d ago
KwietStorm  +   1950d ago
This is why I copy my game data after every single time I'm done playing, assuming the game doesn't have a lock, which is actually less frequent these days. I can't understand how so many people don't do this after PS3 has been out so long. I have 3 year old save files on flash drives and a external hard drive.
Vortex3D  +   1950d ago
Same with me. I still have some very old game saves in my backups since PS3 launch.

Some responses said play the entire game in one sitting. Well, not everyone has the time or wants to blow through the entire game just like that. I take my time to play most of my games. More enjoyable than rushing through the game just to say, done already in one sitting.

I like to hear from those who have unlocked and beat every possible thing in the game to 99% completion and then the saved game file got corrupted because they don't believe in backing up the saved game file.

Since just about every game today is shipped with some nasty bugs, best is wait for a while after the game came out before getting it. Why buy the game on day 1 and then having to deal with nasty bugs? You are telling the game publisher/developer that you are happy to buy broken game immediately then wait until it's more polished. The only way to make the game publishers listen is enough gamers not buying games on the day 1. It's all about "quality" and demand. Now I have said it, I expect plenty of readers here to disagree with me because they rather buy broken game on day 1 and then complain why there are nasty bugs.
DaBadGuy  +   1950d ago
Damn shame. Nothing I hate more than corrupted saves. To those that have lost those precious hours and progress, my sympathies. Hope the devs patch that quick.
Redrum059  +   1950d ago
id hate for this to happen, im on the second chapter of the game
ndibu  +   1950d ago
Lies! Its all lies!
Just people trying to hate on ps3. Darn xbox fanboys!
It only does spring cleaning
pixelsword  +   1950d ago

maybe it's my history as a QA Tester and TRG Tester,
but this is the most uninformative article i've seen.

yes, it's good to know that there is a potential fatal error that erases your game save.

what's MORE important, is HOW it happens.

were gamers just quitting out to the XMB, without waiting for the Auto-Save icon to go away?

most games are rigorously tested for Save/Load related bug issues, because they are usually TRG issues (Technical Requirements Guidelines) that will cause a game to fail submission and not be released. it's this way for Sony, Microsoft, AND Nintendo. there are no exceptions to this requirement; a game MUST be able to save and load data correctly.

save/load tests are usually approached from every angle the testers can think of: removing the disc while saving/loading, powering down the console while saving/loading, unplugging controllers while saving/loading, quitting out to the XMB while saving/loading, signing out of profiles while saving/loading, etc, etc.

those issues are usually handled at the highest priority.

without further information on how this issue is triggered, i can't help but chalk it up to user error.

when it comes to games that auto-save, my rule is to wait until the save icon goes away, quit out to the main menu of the game, then exit to the XMB or dashboard.
devilmaycry2020  +   1945d ago
No it is not
you just get a screen all of a sudden and it forces you to quit the game and then when you start the game again it says corrupted save file.
rivithed  +   1948d ago
Happened to me too
In same place where someone else reported the problem, the boss battle at the end of chapter 3 (The Dark Lord of the Lycans).
devilmaycry2020  +   1945d ago
Good for you
I got at the final fight the last stage on HARD.
I don't even want to play the game after this shit.
devilmaycry2020  +   1945d ago
This just happened to me
I was in the final fight and got a black screen saying "unhandled error" and my only to options were either quit or turn off PS3.
After I restarted I was shocked to see it said my save is corrupt and my progress will be reset.
30 hours down the drain.
