Until a company finds a way to implement DRM in a consumer friendly, unobtrusive and uncrackable way then it's pointless.

What's the point of DRM when it just encourages the various hacker teams to break it. What's the point of DRM when it gives the legit consumer a worse experience than the illegal downloader?

The UbiSoft method is probably the worst I have seen and is just wrong in every way. Steam is the closest to a good implementation - but many Steam games are hacked and made available for download; so their DRM, while more consumer friendly, does not protect the publishers very well.

The games industry is still relatively young, especially in terms of DRM - so it is really going through the same growing pains that the music and movie industries went through... And considering how those industries are, and how they are STILL screwing up tackling downloaders etc then I don't have much hope for a sensible resolution to DRM any time soon.
