New French Publisher Zallag Knows That the Future is DLC

While I completely love the French and indie devs, and WiiWare in particular, I disagree that DLC is "the future," considering half of console owners don't even know how to connect their consoles to the internet.

I actually think more than half are connected. Not sure of the exact numbers, but EA Sports of all people had numbers on it.

I really don't like DLC, or digital distribution in general rather.

Every time I buy a game of PSN for instance, I feel a bit of buyers remorse because I simply don't feel like I own it and I know in 20 years I won't be able to add it to my collection.

Sorry, guys. Digital distribution may be convenient -- but I'll take a hard copy over that any day.

I love DLC, but only once I've had a full game experience from what I bought. If it's on-disc content or cut stuff they just readd for a price, count me out.

Its Micro-transactions, Subscriptions and Digital distribution

DLC - Expensive on consoles and most of the time its packaged with the game so your paying for content you should own, Also you get updates that include DLC but you have to pay £8 just to get a unlock key that is like 6KB (map pack 6KB wow)

Micro-Transactions - On PC side you pay a little and get the game, content or fund the games development, consoles like on Home and Avatars you pay for content to make your characters look nice

Subscriptions - helps the developer and is a great revenue source but can put gamers off (I'm not a fan of subscription based games as I feel if I have already purchased the game why should I pay to play it)

Digital Distribution - Its the perfect solution all the points made in the article really only are aimed a Digital Distribution

* Cheaper to develop, no packaging/shipping costs = but if the game is already released Via disk than this statement is pointless, If not then its not DLC just digital distributed content

* Price controlled, and more money goes to the developers = yes more money going to the developer but if the game is already released Via disk than this statement is pointless, If not then its not DLC just digital distributed content

* Much lower environmental impact = again yes more money going to the developer but if the game is already released Via disk than this statement is pointless, If not then its not DLC just digital distributed content

* All games are on a level footing with each other = I guess they mean on advertisement or with digital distribution there is unlimited units compared to disk were there is a limit
