Real Life vs. Gran Turismo: Corvette ZR1

It's always fun to compare real-life photographs with screenshots from Gran Turismo, and it looks like that's exactly what Polyphony Digital had in mind when they released this batch of Corvette ZR1 images from Gran Turismo PSP last week...

The real pictures don't look real, it would have been useful to have an actual shot of them in a place. With these you can't tell whether it's just a really good render or they've photoshopped the background out.

Anyway GT does come damn close, but I doubt these are the in-game models.

There's no way those are ingame shots, people. The PSP just isn't capable of that. Here's a hint: They're still images taken at extreme closeup, at resolutions higher than the PSP's screen.
Don't get me wrong, these are the models the ingame stuff will be based on and it will likely look exceptional for a PSP game, but it wont look THIS good.

you can't add more polys to cars by raising the resolution.the cars would already have to look good.adding AA or bump in res to ugly cars will still not make them look like what you are seeing in the pic.

so that car like all the other 800 would have to be good looking before the bump.

example:take the ps1 gt1 game and raise the res and add AA,it will not look like this at all.but adding AA and a bump in res will make these cars look better than what you see on psp.but the car is still a high poly car.

For starters because the PSP can't display the resolutions of these pictures, and also because GT4 cars weren't as good looking as these shots are.

I saw screenshots and gameplay of it on the PSP, and it sure as hell didn't look like this. There was noticeable aliasing and blockiness on some models.

Let me get somthing straight, the GTP I viewed was at PC world and it was a jaggy mess, I have a 32 inch LG HDTV, I have a top quality shielded HDMI cable which does not look as good as when I use my VGA cable, in case you forgot PC's that run Crysis which looks better than everything on consoles use VGA, VGA is better for games, HDMI is better for movies, and I do not care about the disagrees because likely most are from paranoid PS3 fans, I get better results from VGA and the GTP I viewed was a jaggy mess, but as I said already this could have been the cables, so I have already accepted that it may look better with the right setup, no need to cry about it, I have no reason to lie, does that make me a troll lol.

there is no way that VGA is better then HDMI.
It's just technically imposable, does not matter if we are talking about games or movies. VGA is an analog signal but HDMI is digital... not that it is always good but in this case with out a doubt. I'm talking only video here, VGA(1987) 640x480 vs HDMI (2002) 1080p +, and this is not an opinion it's a fact...
I think you should try running Crisis with a HDMI cable just to see for your self.

VGA can do upto 1920x1200 and looks just as good as HDMI and DVI IMO. Ive done crap loads of testing and I think DVI is the best because its does exactly what HDMI does but is way cheaper.

Your TV is too small, it'll be a 720P which is HD not TrueHD GT5 is made for TrueHD which is 1080P.

42inch Tvs is the smallest TrueHD TV you'll get.

As for VGA beating HDMI... not quite, VGA doesn't have the bandwidth to compete against HDMI and can't carry at 1080P signal for a start.

HDMI is WGXGA which is what the latest PC GFX cards will be pushing out that'll be higher than 1920x1080 res, HDMI cables start around 3gigabytes of bandwidth and 3.0 HDMI goto 10gigabytes bandwidth.

Where as VGA cable will be limited to around 500 megabytes of bandwidth.

the next real setup from VGA cable is compontent but really that only does the videy stream and it's split so that each wire doesn't interfere with the other wires. I think it does around 1 gigabyte bandwidth, it can't do 1080P either and yes I've heard 360 attempt to push 1080P on compontent cables but it can't be done as the cable itself can't be used as they are analog and 1080P signals are only digital so while it could be attempted the upper end of TVs won't take a 1080P singal from compontent cables and that's even saying if they support that in the first place.

There is no way a VGA signal will produce better images than DVI or HDMI. I have tested both on the 360 and on PC's. Its especially true when it comes to color and depth. The VGA signal from my 360 was so horribly washed out I couldent even use it.
