What is up with the fact that Super Mario, and his brother Luigi, have Italian names and seem to speak with an Italian accent but were created in Japan? Well, there's more to the story.

If that's the case, its pretty pathetic. It's obvious he was designed as an Italian pastiche and that's all part of the fun! If people are offended by that, that's their problem. Let them miss out on great Mario games due to their warped ideologies. They can enjoy their sanctimony instead.
There's a vocal minority that get bogged down in this kind of nonsense and we shouldn't let them ruin everyone else's enjoyment. I swear people used to be thicker skinned, these days they're just thick.
I dont know where people get this weird misconception that because a character is crated in a certain country, that means that is their ethnicity. He was and always has been italian.

No he is a Japanese guy born in Italy. Who cares the games are fun to play and he is a popular character that helped put the NES on the map.
