Over 20 minutes of leaked Destiny Alpha Gameplay footage surfaces

It's a rather low quality download but I like what I see there. Can't wait for the Beta to play it myself, as far as I know they are going to announce the date at Sony's conference on Monday.

To all the people who say it's "lifeless" and boring. I think Bungie has a few aces up their sleeve with regard to gameplay and enemy factions, etc that are going to blow us out the water. I honestly don't think they are aiming for "Halolands 2".

I'm not saying the game is going to be the next messiah, but I think we might be underestimating bungie a bit. They have thrown almost (pledged) a decade behind this project, and a team is going to be working around the clock just to update the world.

I disagree completely. Titanfall was destined to fail with it's CoD gameplay, the 6v6 maps and it's utterly stupid bots. Destiny is a persistant online Coop-RPG which people are going to play for a long time, especially if Bungie updates it continuously. The gameplay isn't as innovative as Titanfall but it gets the important elements right and is basically a big step up from Borderlands. If Bungie can nail the PvP and it's longterm appeal then this might even be a GOTY candidate (since so many good games were delayed into next year).

Everyone was putting Titanfall down calling it COD with mechs. Saying it's not original, but this game does seem like a pretty big nod to Borderlands. Not trying to put it down. I have huge hopes too.

^Destiny is certainly not innovative in terms of gameplay. The only thing I'd call innovative is the persistant online world and it's setting in our solar system. Other than that it's probably a mix between Borderlands and Halo but I don't see that as a bad thing and I'm pretty sure that Bungie has quite a few surprises for us in store.
I agree that these videos aren't really mindblowing but like I said a few weeks ago, I'm sure it's fun once you have your own character playing with friends and exploring the world.

I actually have to agree, that game feel lifeless. It looks too clean (kinda like Halo actually), and there is just not much emotion in it. Like yeah, there are monsters to kill and mission to do in those large maps or whatever... but excitement is just no there, at least for me.

Do you people even know what an alpha is ? At this point to say that its going to be garbage based off of this would be like saying the saying the Sistine Chapel ceiling by Michelangelo is crap based on just a few swatches of paint on the canvas. Judge it when its done not months before it even gets to that point and on a separate version that may or may not represent how it actually is at that.

Nothing more exciting than seeing Alpha Footage of a single person playing a game meant for multiplayer. I don't think that it's worthwhile to judge an entire game on leaked pre-final version gameplay.

It's looks good I guess, sorta has the bordelands feel to it. I won't judge it too much since it is a alpha version so there's probably not a lot of things added yet. When the beta comes out in July that will give me a reason to buy it or not.

There might not be alot going on but No one should expect to see multiple dynamic events happening in a Alpha. From what i understand studios use test like these to gather specific data. Reguardless, i think it looks fantastic and cant wait to try it myself :)

Just watched the 40 mins. or so of gameplay and while the video quality is somewhat low the graphics and art direction seems good. The main concern is what many have voiced already that the game seems vast and sparse not intimate for most of the time. It is alpha gameplay so maybe environmentally and story beats are coming closer to the gold version. So there is room to hope for a compelling story that brings you into the world and makes you want to spend time there. Otherwise, if it stays as-is it will be one of those fun titles to play for a bit in co-op slogging through NPC kill environments until eventually it gets old for everyone. And doesn't get played again until some DLC content happens to bring everyone back similar to Borderlands. E3 will definitely have a big impact as to if gamers will think this is something big, $500million worth according to Activision or just another fun shooter.
