There is a future if people want it but if they don't forcing it on them won't make any difference. ;)

Well, seeing as Move will work and is still optional on PS4 so new features, tech and capabilities will increase from the 'tests' done on PS4....I could say there's an obvious future, especially if Sony does something like Oculus Rift + Move controllers....

Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm ....
naiyo  +   488d ago
Optional means that no AAA game will try to do new things with them or at least just use them as pointer controls.
Mounce  +   488d ago
@Naiyo - Better that than to piss off your consumers by telling them that they must pay $100 ontop of their console-purchase for a Kinect that they may not even use to begin with. Both have their pros and cons but more people are concerned with investment, getting more for less and not buying so many extras that empty their wallet further. How many X1 consumers will buy that just to play Halo, Forza, Gears(if so) or COD and not give a rats ass about Kinect but still own one that will be a door stopper? That or, tons and tons of trade-ins at Gamestop for the Kinect.

The future of gaming is putting on a helmet that hijacks your central nervous system somehow to give you total immersion in another reality.

Is that so much to ask?

Although, I have to say, even if they figured out how to do that without causing severe detriment to your physical or mental well-being, I think the level of addiction caused by something so tantalizing would be dangerous.

You're worried about well being? Shows how much people think things through.

"A helmet that hijacks your central nervous system"

What happens if/when a system like that gets hacked? Largest reason why it should never, ever happen. If it ever does, I won't be buying.

My friend, you should watch The Matrix if you haven't already. Same to you JunioRS101.

"What happens if/when a system like that gets hacked?"

Well, we'd have an Agent Smith roaming in the real world.
creeping judas  +   488d ago
Also read the Otherland books by Tad Williams. You would find out exactly how tantalizing it could be!!

To old school gamers like myself, probably not, but to younger gamers, more than likely.

If not, then Microsoft are in trouble.

For me personally, not in the iteration they are currently in. What I mean is having the machine mirror your actions on screen is gimmicky and not very interesting or fun.

Now when the Oculus rift or whatever similar more advanced device like this comes out in the future then motion gaming will definitely be a hit.
Imalwaysright  +   488d ago
I hope not.
buynit  +   488d ago
Why not?
Imalwaysright  +   488d ago
Because I don't like them and I don't think they add anything new to our hobby.
buynit  +   488d ago
Thats bull shit, it doesnt add nothing... You been under a rock?
Imalwaysright  +   488d ago
What is oh so original about Wii games, move games or kinect games? Tell me wich game for one of these devices has done something original that we haven't seen before.

There are advantages to having motion controls, the problem is that so few developers have actually made well designed games using motion controls.

The best uses of motion controls that I've played this generation are:

-Wii Sports/resort
-Light gun games (House of the Dead: Overkill, Sin & Punishment)
-Zelda: Skyward Sword
-Red Steel 2
-Boom Blox
-Dance Central

The mentioned games were built around Motion controls from the get go. It's a shame that developers don't make motion games as much anymore, because there are completely new gameplay experiences to be had.

But we fear change unfortunately.
Shadonic  +   488d ago
exaclty this and most developers just shoe horn the kinect into there last game
buynit  +   488d ago
I think it does, it can add so much to the over all experience of gaming..

Im glad that at least one of them are really trying i hope it works out
shadowmist13  +   488d ago
No,because of one word:lazy,it can be applied to the gamer and the developer.
duducus  +   488d ago
I like using it for shooters, since you point and shoot like a regular gun, also, one-to-one sword fighting is cool... Beyond that, not really...
