The Nintendo Switch is potentially nearing its lifespan, and several Wii U games haven't found their way over as ports yet.
I think it's better to leave games like AC: Amiibo Festival and Mario Tennis: Ultra Smash forgotten on the Wii U. Best case, they are mediocre games; worse case, they are very bad. It was a dark time for the Wii U, and the first only exists to sell Amiibo cards, whereas the second was put together in a couple of months with a shoestring budget, and it shows.
The rest of the list does have some really cool games, though. I would love to see a remake of Star Fox Zero with decent controls, and Xenoblade X doesn't require that much modification to work.
This article leaves out Nintendo's most controversial game to date devils Third.
I personally found the cover system really fun in that one compared to at the time most fps games completely lacking one.
Kirby is always ignored or forgotten by people, so good to see it mentioned here.
Play Kirby Canvas Curse on DS, and then play Rainbow Curse on Wii U, they're really fun and unique 'platformers' without any actual jumping.
Hanzala from eXputer: "The cruel hammer of Nintendo has fallen. Farewell, 3DS and Wii U, you surely brightened my life and many others; you won't be forgotten."
A new list goes over eight of the the most useless amiibo, ranging from the Shadow Mewtwo card to the Qbby figure.
The Gamepad seems like an albatross around the Wii U's neck. Many games don't see the appeal in a big bulky controller with a touch screen in the middle. Many Wii owners loved the Wii Mote for its intuitive and ease of use. And so a dual analogue, big bulky, touch screened controller is the opposite of appealing for them.
Unless Nintendo makes a Gamepad lite or the best case scenario, make it optional for consumers, I don't see it becoming mainstream. Hell most games on Wii U can be played without the Gamepad at all. And for fps' I'd rather use Wii Remote controls anyway. And for Fighting games I'd rather play with the Pro Controller.
Drop the Gamepad.
I think the main appeal of the gamepad is that A) it's super comfortable, and B) it allows a home-console to double as a handheld, which is incredibly cool. Sure, it's not really any more "innovative" than the DS, but the added functionality of the thing just makes it a fantastic tool IMHO.
Nah, the gamepad rocks. I love using it, the only thing I don't like is the battery life. Otherwise it's an awesomely unique piece of hardware for a home gaming console. Let's wait and see how game development evolves around it before jumping to any conclusions.
"it’s very clear what the Gamepad is best at offering: Streamlined menu navigation, off-TV play, cleaner TV-screen presentation, and proper splitscreen multiplayer. These are the pillars on which the Wii U’s merit stands– not on some one-off novel experience akin to the Wii’s Skyward Sword or Wii Sports. Here are four features that, when implemented, unequivocally and irrefutably improve a gameplay experience in the most basic of ways."
Well said!
I don't mind the gamepad but i prefer the pro controller and it's useful if for the of tv functions but i'm a controller kind of guy.
