I don't get it. If there are a lot of developers complaining about Microsoft, why are there more third party exclusives (or timed exclusives) to Xbox consoles?

The only PlayStation third party exclusive left was Final Fantasy Versus XIII, which now has gone multiplatform. Yet, there is Titanfall, Dead Rising, etc for Xbox.

I hope that Sony is much more successful this generation. I want to see a PS third party exclusive to see if they really can make a game of the caliber of Naught Dog with PS hardware.

only indie get pawn by MS, in fact i feel like xbone is more for big publishers to play around

so if indie want to come in this party they have to find the publishers

Its called writing checks, Microsoft is paying for exclusives

http://www.gamesindustry.bi...

I honestly cant knock Microsoft for paying for games, i mean you do what you have to do to win, my issue is with the developers and studios who accept the checks, the worst offenders being insomniac games, who go multiplatform because they say they want to reach a bigger audience, then turn around and make a Xbox exclusive on a new system with no install base yet

Money!!!!

Ms has way more money to moneyhat sony cant compete with them that way. So they have to be creative and choose wisely and do stuff that isnt a moneyhat. Simple things like policy changes and talking to people. Also potential moneyhat dollars they can invest and give freedom to their own studios who wont go multiplat in a year.

@Colonel Well MS treats indies like like a mutated child thrown in the basement. But are open to third party. They throw checks and negotiation with Third party heavily.

Even more so there own first party studios. Indies are revolting and literally running away from MS and going to Sony.

Sony are treating devs almost perfect and want everybody including third party on board.

Sony is doing what Nintendo is failing at. Remember Sony didn't have great relationships with indies or third party early on this gen. But are making up for it this gen more than ever. I would say Nintendo needs to step it up but I think its too late Sony's beating them to the punch.

Because Sony owns way more of its own studios for First party titles, and is confident in them. Therefore, they-re not whipping out the wallet for small timed exclusives of games also coming on PC.

The Last of Us has rested my case.
GamersHeaven  +   435d ago
Timed exclusives is something microsoft invented they pay sh1t load of cash for a game to come on there platform first for a certain amount of time, they also like to trick and deceive gamer's by using the word EXCLUSIVE like they did at E3.
Mounce  +   435d ago
You think that because Microsoft has timed exclusives, means it has more Love? It's because it's in their contract...

as Jonathan Blow said, you have to have a publisher for indie gamers, you HAVE to pay THEM to have your game on their console and you have to forcibly accept that your game then is exclusive to microsoft and they take a chunk of your pay ontop of it all.

Microsoft is greedy and they cripple small-time publishers and ontop of all that? Well, even non-indie games had to be Timed-exclusives because as Scroticus puts. If it isn't in the contract then they would especially want a timed exclusivity just like Bioshock was, just like Mass Effect was, just like Oblivion was. SO MANY GAMES that just didn't go on PS3 until 'Later' not because PS3 sucked - but because Microsoft said "No, its on our console til we say so" sorta shit.

Developers have every right to hate Microsoft unless they're like, EA and Activision or Capcom because they're Giant and don't have to worry SO much about money/royalties.

MS has some deep pockets to pay for exclusives. Sony not as much so to compensate they depend more on their relationships with developers and publishers.
AznGaara  +   435d ago
Actually I'd say to compensate they focus on their 1st party studios to deliver great exclusives.

End of the day real talent cannot be bought and Sony's first party devs have proven that time and time again.
creatchee  +   435d ago
I'm all for indies, but seriously - the LIVE independent section was partially good, but most of it was a bunch of either ripoffs of already released indies or simply crappy games. You really had to wade through a lot to find a decent title other than the already famous ones. Basically, it's the Apple App Store.
BitbyDeath  +   435d ago
Indie games should be cheaper nextgen since their are no longer any publishing costs attached.
oof46  +   435d ago
On the Playstation side, you mean.

FITgamer  +   435d ago
It's not dead, just has cancer. Whether or not it's terminal we will have to wait for the test results.
Roper316  +   435d ago
Ms's doesn't have cancer, they are the cancer of the gaming industry.
FITgamer  +   435d ago
That's what i was saying the Xbone has caner which is M$. I guess i should of been more clear.
