well considering that it is a fighter and will have 3 other players using the other gamepads then why would hey want someone having the use of touchscreen?

Surprised a 5th player can't join in and add mayhem with random item drops or environmental manipulation etc while others are fighting it out, something similar to what can be done in NSMBU with the touch screen. An oversight for sure, Nintendo dissapointed me yet again.

You got disagrees-
Nothing about SSB WiiU disappointed me
But your 2nd Screen idea would be a great idea.

Esp. If they a board like Pictochat where the 2nd Screen would have to, periodically, quickly swipe in stage platforms on the touchscreen.

less randomness better
it's nice they confirmed no tripping in this one.

I'm down voted not for pointing out something that could clealy enhance this games party appeal and be implemented with ease but because I said Nintendo dissapointed. So many Fantards with no imagination.

How about: Make Smash competitive. Thats all I ask. Not Brawl. It doesnt have to be Melee. Just competitive with a high skill ceiling.

Melee was hands down the most technical fighter of the last decade. Brawl watered it down. I want something back.

It seems like you got your wish they took out the Tripping.
I never could understand why he did not want people using it as a competitive fighter.

Personally, I wish they had to modes one for casuals and another for the Technical Fighters.
I like the fighting mechanics of SSB but the craziness and wildness of SSB is like no other.

I would never want it to be exactly like Tekken, SF, or SC...

But I will not miss random tripping.

Tripping was the giant fuck you cherry on top of the shit sundae to the competitive fans of Melee.

Here is a story: before the release of Brawl, Sakurai invited a couple of top Smashers to play an early build of the game. They were L-canceling into combos with hit-stun and ledge guarding. Faster gameplay. Faster falling. Non-floaty gravity.

Sakurai did not like what he saw as a party game turned into THIS. He gutted each of these mechanics. The competitive fighting scene in Brawl lasted less than 3 years while the largest Melee tournament of all time is happening in Vegas in one month.

I want a competitive fighter.

I'm guessing they will do exactly that. Here's why:

After Melee, Nintendo's philosophy seemed to be "bigger, more stuff." It didn't matter what it did to the game, there just needed to be *more*. Mario Kart on GC? Add another character on the back of the kart. Mario Kart Wii? Put a wheel on it! Metroid Prime 3 - more characters! Who cares about isolation and a sense of loneliness? Let's be freaking Halo! Even Super Mario Galaxy, on a surface level, is "Well, we've already done a world, so what's next?" Zelda: Skyward Sword? "All new villians! All new characters! Put a bird on it! Show off that Wii-mote by making a sword-swinging game! So many tutorials, who cares what it does to the experience?"

Mario Kart DS signaled a bit of a change within the ranks, though. Suddenly, you started seeing a few teams throwing the excessive stuff out the window in favor of more control, less chaos. Yes, the snaking issue sucked, but they were trying. Mario Kart 7 is freaking amazing for competitive stuff. No blue-shell spam, no snaking, just 60fps racing working seamlessly online.

I'm guessing that, in kind, Nintendo's guidance with Namco isn't "Do all the things!" this time like in Brawl. I bet this is going to be a much more focused game - as @Could already mentioned, tripping is out, they're looking not to keep everything and put more things in, they're looking to streamline and make a great fighter.

The omission of touchscreen controls further points to that idea!

@socks "Funny"

I just alway thought that the answer would be another mode.

Most of the games could be solved that way- include the original vision and the one that the fans want.

SSB has so many modes and option toggles as it is- a few more would not have killed him.

-The Mod community is going to do it anyway.

I feel like you are right. There should be a simple toggle for the hardcore mode.

However, I don't think its coming. Why would he do it? Brawl sold an F-Ton without that mode.

Not creatjve but a safe decision. Respectable.

No need for touch controls

Were people expecting it to?
