Konami has a charming little game available from the Japanese WiiWare called Saku Saku Animal Panic. It's part Zoo Keeper, part Qix, and totally cute. Each level takes place in a pen with a variety of animals. The object is to fence in the beasts and separate them by species. Apparently, animals are all xenophobes because they do a happy dance when they are secured in a gated community with their own kind. Konami is obviously making a bold statement on modern race relations.
Steven Rodriguez writes for NWR:
"WiiWare is live in Japan, and with it comes a brand-new slate of downloadable games. In order to facilitate this, the Wii required a system update to enable the WiiWare area in the Wii Shop Channel. You may have already updated your Wii console with the update, which after WiiWare eventually launches in Western territories, will make your Wii Shop Channel main menu look like this:"
Looks like it has potential. I wonder if you'll be able to try a game demo before buying it?
Nintendo won't let us do that, because nobody will buy the stupid games they've released. there are 2 games that are possibly worth downloading, and even then it looks sketchy.
Nintendo says they don't require demos, which probably means that they don't forbid but also don't encourage them.
The only WiiWare launch game created by a U.S. developer, Saku Saku Animal Panic is actually pretty fun. Yay America!
Epicenter Studios has crafted this heartwarming tale of a farmer whose animals seem to continually manage to break free of their pens. Isn't that always the way? You've got to quickly construct new fences and make sure that animals are only fenced in with their own kind.
