Come on, DSOG, it's impressive as hell for a real-time performance capture, this is no where near as high fidelity as NVidia's Face Works.

Facial expressions are way better than Ira. However - graphics wise - the head of Ira is better detailed. Moreover, that model is... well... not beautiful, but its detail is astonishing. Point is that it is easier to up the graphics or create a more beautiful character than improve the facial calculations of an engine; an engine that is already quite demanding.

Indeed, I find this more impressive than the FaceWorks. Depending on how cheap and accessible this is, we'll have good performance [captures] for even lower budget titles. Faceworks tech is overkill for most applications, animation frames are derived from 300MB of data (compressed from gigabytes of data) (I'm not sure how much of that data is reusable for different characters, or is that 300MB for a single character.) This seems to be reusable for different characters, at least.

Dude, screw the graphics, it's about the CAPTURING technique, WITH NO MARKERS. Get it? It's about how easy this is compared to the nVidia's facial capture tech, that obviously has the better graphics engine, but this is looking good too.

Good God this is amazing, not just because the level of detail in the capture but the simplicity of it all including the rig. Wonder how large the animation files are and just how viable it would be to use in a game for all facial animations. Wonder if we'll see this in any next gen titles?

Thats funny. When I watched it the ads by Google pop up was for a hairloss treatment.

OT Thats pretty amazing. Remember were looking at realtime performance capture, not so much the lighting or texture detail.

It looks as this demo is a true representation of what PS4/Xbox will be capable of in realtime.

The Activision demo 'Ira' does look possible on next gen, but not at that fidelity. Ira looks more like a high powered PC, slightly a few years away from being achieved on next gen.

Probably 2-3 years into lifespan 'Ira' will be possible on next gen consoles.

I am happy with this tech in any event!

No markers??? Just put this gizmo on the head and that's it! The preparation and placing markers on the face/body took more time than screening itself! This is great!!!

This tech can be applied to current gen, the facial animations are captured then rendered by [insert modern game engine here]. The horsepower is in the capture device done in production not the rendering as the game is played. This just makes it easier and faster to create facial animations.
