Great game, highly recommended. I think it took me about 60 hours to beat it completely, so 40$ is a great entry price.

If you do every single side quest plus the campaign it could take over 80 hours. Definitely worth a buy.

Ah,It took me 60 hours to do all the side quests and catch all the monsters.

Very enjoyable 60 hours I might add.

I haven't finished this game yet. I need to get back to it. I haven't played it in a while. Love it though.

One of the best RPGs I've ever played. It was very charming, the graphics are gorgeous, the story is simple yet very well done, and there is enough content to hold you over a while.

Yup, if you haven't already then buy this game. I personally think the combat could of been better (AI is awful) but it's certainly no deal breaker. Get it, especially if you like Ghibli films.

Been holding off on this for ages, don't even know why. Love Anime, love Jrpgs, Love Ghibli...Guess I can't say no to this deal.

one of my top 5 rpgs this gen

Too kiddish for me...I mean the monsters look like crap and not even remotely intimidating. I'll see about picking it up when it hits the 20 dollar mark.
jon1234  +   1008d ago
people like you dont understand... its not about the looks, its about how it plays....
LordHiggens  +   1008d ago
Listen buddy, the game play wasn't all that great either...I'd rather have a sword in hand and fight then let some midget monster friend take on enemies. I understand perfectly this game is one I would possibly...and I say that loosely enjoy on a lark on the cheap. If I'm going to be looking at a game for 60 plus hours I'd like to enjoy what I'm looking at.

LordHiggens is correct. The game is very "kiddish" and the gameplay isn't that great either. Now if your a fan of this art style that is very popular with some of the better anime movies out there, than you might enjoy it. I personally wish it had a better story. It was just too much "pokemon" for me.

well you should learn to drop that whole disliking kiddie looking and other similar generes ,if you do, itll be your gateway to other great looking games that are awesome
MeatAbstract  +   1008d ago
I though the look was excellent. You say 'kiddie' I would say innocent. Most games that claim to be mature titles end up being for kids anyway. An example is Gears of War. That claims to be a mature title for 18+ but kids love it. It's a kids idea of mature.

Ni No Kuni has the innocence of childhood seeped over it. It lacks the modern day cynicism we see in games and films and it reminds you of what its like to be a kid again and that feeling of adventure.

It's also things like Pokemon and that post going around the internet. Pokemon is aimed at kids but I'm sure most adults are the ones that buy it. Just like Call of Duty is aimed at adults but it's mostly kids that play it. Ni No Kuni sold out everywhere around here when it was released. Can guarantee it was adults, mid-20's to early 30's that bought it.

"Ni No Kuni has the innocence of childhood seeped over it."

The very reason why I thought the artstyle and the characters worked soo well.

Yes, I was a lil' confused by their choice of a 10 (?) year old boy initially. But honestly, it fit perfectly with what they set out to do, it made sense, time and time again, for the character to be young and , in many cases, naive.

Sooo you dont like the art style which you might stare at for 60 hours and you dont like the gameplay yet you'd still spend 20 dollars on this game once it hits that price?? Really? Sad attempt at trolling.
LordHiggens  +   1008d ago
Shut up, I wasn't trolling...20 bucks is a good price for a RPG that I'm on the fence about. Quit assuming.

When a reason you're not picking this game up is because "It looks too kiddish" that really shows that you need to grow up.

Seriously, this is one of the best RPGs I've played in a long time, and if something like that is really holding you back, maybe this game really isn't for you, because you won't be able to appreciate the game for what it is behind your insecurities.

NNK is a beautifully designed game. Easy to play but challenging to master. Visually the game is amazing, not because ultra polished graphics but because the art style. Combat-wise the game is clever and unforgiving (unless you do a lot grinding hunting the Toko's and over-leveling your Familiar line up). The story is good enough to keep you interested and entertained. So, this game for $40? Yea, its a bargain. I payed full price for the game and don't regret doing so. No doubt one of the best RPG this gen, and I go as far to say, best RPG for PS3.

My fave game of the year so far. Nothing else that plays or looks like it in my collection.
