Ouch, so the sales for Dragon's Quest X on Wii U did not do better. Disappointing to say the least. Clearly the whole MMO idea did not work. That and many people probably owned it for the Wii. They will have to go back to the RPG roots for XI.

It's the #1 selling title in the Japanese version of the Wii U eshop
Factor in the discount for the people who've already bought the Wii version, and of course the numbers are surprisingly mediocre.

The most important thing about subscription-based MMO's, are the consumers continuation of paying those monthly fees.

All of those people are paying 1,000 yen ($10) a month to keep playing.

Dragon Quest IX may have outsold X by a couple million...but how much money are those people paying every month to play it? ;)

I totally agree with you guys that there is still tons of money to be earned by the whole monthly subscription.
