Social media where every idiot can attack you for a harmless joke, feminazis need to tone it down, to be so vicious at someone for a harmless joke, telling him to die, so classy feminazis bravo. Everyone is so sensitive these days grow a pair and stop being offended by every tiny thing. Im just waiting for Sessler and Polygon to call Ken Levine a pro rape supporter just to complete the circus.

He didn't even mention Rape, people just jumped on him an associated it themselves. Honestly, if anything I thought it was geared towards the movie Hangover.
GusBricker  +   388d ago
Lunacyeyes is a female and you have to look at it through her mindset. A roofie is something totally different to a woman.

And whoever wrote this gem, "Feminist like you are fucking retarded. I hope you both get raped." is an idiot.
zebramocha  +   388d ago
Glad it was a joke and no guy showed him what a "bigdaddy " is.
SilentNegotiator  +   388d ago
I'm sick of these feminazis inventing VG-related issues every week.
Nimblest-Assassin  +   388d ago
Oh my god... reading that chain made me despise people.

Both gamers and feminists

Gamers for being retarded for telling women to get raped, and feminists for generalizing gamers as white and fat

Seriously, you called Ken Levine porky?
Gaming101  +   387d ago
aaaaand here concludes this week's edition of "Retarded Feminazis have ultimately futile internet arguments with whoever they will listen to their retarded rants"
Wenis  +   388d ago
Well said majie. Social media is making people retarded. Oh crap I said retarded I better put up my flame shield..oh wait this isn't twitter luckily.

"Proud Virgin" Hehehe. Add the word "forever" at the end. :D

Edit:
"@lewdkitty @dragon_ebooks I'm totally self conscious about my voice but I still very much want to talk online. I need to work up the courage"

Okaaaay... I don't even talk online because I don't care to. Plain and simple. She needs courage to? I could if I really wanted to. But I don't want to! What the hell is her problem? It sounds like feminist attention seeking. Being a female myself, I think she's an idiot.

Losing faith in humanity. One day at a time. PS3 and PS4 aren't doomed, Wii U isn't doomed, Nextbox isn't doomed. Humanity is doomed.:/

Welcome to the dumb ass internet... First and foremost he didn't say anything about a rape...(he didn't even imply anything like that)

he said, "he was drugged by Giant Bomb’s Jeff Gerstmann that's why he looked tired." As a joke... -how again does that have anything to do with a rape.

Well, welcome to the internet -were every idiot with a keyboard in-front of them is all of a sudden a rocket scientist-

Really, how is this even news? this is more about -stupid things- people say on twitter..

What does news have to do gaming journalism?
Crazyglues  +   388d ago
nah I didn't mean like that, I meant like how did this even make news because he clearly didn't even say anything like what they were implying

First GOW: Ascension, now this, a few years ago, this would have been a non-issue, now people are crying about somebody making a joke about being tired. Thank you again twitter for getting offended over some useless crap that was clearly not intended to cause offence!
FAT MAN GO BOOM  +   388d ago
Well Said Crazy...

It is getting to the point of stupidity...
Kurylo3d  +   387d ago
Even if he did say something about rape (which he didnt). Who gives a crap. I mean really. Just cause people die in the world.. doesnt mean people stop joking about death. People like to use that whole double standard thing, because they somehow associate a woman being tortured and assume everyone else in teh world sees that image if the word roofie is used. Some people just need to stfu.
Hicken  +   387d ago
What kills me is how the exact right attitude is being taken by people in the first comment, and they're being marked for Immature?

Seriously, this is going too far. It's what I worry about for gaming: that people will take something- ANYTHING- and turn it into an issue that negatively affects the industry.
Derekvinyard13  +   388d ago
This is blown waaaay out of proportion
WildArmed  +   388d ago
This happens often.
Squeaky wheel gets the oil, a few people make non-issues a big deal for no reason.
Abriael  +   387d ago
I prefer Minsc's philosophy, and it would be more appropriate in this case.

"Squeaky wheel gets the kick!"
MattyG  +   388d ago
Jesus, lighten up people. I saw the tweet earlier IN CONTEXT. Laughed it off and went on with my day. Rape never crossed my mind because he never mentioned or implied it.

And really? A s***storm? So now two or three people being hypersensitive is worthy of news?

i could kinda understand if he said " my bum is sore from last night because i was roofied" but he didnt say anything implying rape at all.

The guy who called rape is getting slammed on twitter. Sweet Karma
Nimblest-Assassin  +   388d ago
They both enjoy it though. They keep calling everyone who comments to them white and fat, that rape is regarded well in society and calls everyone who asks them how they got a rape joke out of a roofie joke an idiot

Nothing changed, just people looking to annoy others
SubtenkoGaming  +   387d ago
Yea pretty ironic, lol but seriously I'm going to start acting like I'm offended by everything these complainers do. If they can do it why can't I?

It's on! XD

-Gespenst-  +   388d ago
In fairness, we shouldn't we joke about rape, it contributes to an overall cultural trivialization of the subject. As if people, in their fear of it as a reality to be dealt with, decide instead to joke about it- to "pad" it with humour. Humour as a distancing tool.

I know this is just one instance, but #1. He's an authoritative voice in the videogames industry and #2. People make these kinds of tasteless jokes all the time; it's hard to attack everyone all at once about it. To be honest I think admonishing a "famous" person about it is more effective than admonishing some random joe public. It makes waves like this is sort of doing.
MattyG  +   388d ago
The thing is though, he didn't even mean it in the sense that Jeff Gertsman was going to rape him. He meant that he looked tired, something that roofies do to you and because it is used as "the date rape drug" people assumed he was making light of rape. I bet rape didn't even cross his mind when he tweeted that.
rainslacker  +   388d ago
You think it's OK to tarnish the reputation of a famous person just to bring a subject to light? What does a person's social standing have anything to do with misrepresenting a person's character? You think it's OK to make an example of someone famous just to push an agenda? How would you feel if you were in that situation, famous or not? Ken Levine, while popular, is still a human being, and as such he deserves to behave and be treated as one just like anyone else.

I'm sorry, but in the instance of rape, I think the mainstream media and most people I know pretty much think it's reprehensible. I don't know why you have to drag someone's name through the mud just to make a point that really doesn't need to be made.

I say many many inappropriate things in the company of friends, and they say them right back. We understand it's a joke, and believe me if anyone of us were faced with a terrible thing such as rape, sexism, racism, assault, or whatever we would handle that situation with all seriousness and not make jokes about it.

We're adults, and as such we can separate reality from just having a good laugh.

More on topic.

This whole thing was taken out of context without even knowing the man. For all we know being roofied is just a colloquialism for "someone took me out and got me piss ass drunk the night before". I say this, because I've heard it used this way on more than one occasion. From his original comment, the only rape implied was by those accusing him of inappropriateness.

Shadowstar  +   387d ago
Re: everyone thinks rape is reprehensible... Yeah, I dunno. People say they're against rape, until it happens. Then it's the victim's fault for being in a situation where they could be raped.

Raped in India? Well, why were you there, you know it's dangerous, you shouldn't have been outdoors at night. Raped by football players? Well, why'd you get so drunk and ruin their lives (seriously, CNN kind of said this)? Raped by your husband? Well, if you didn't want it, why did you marry him, or stay with him? Raped while being a man? You must have been in prison and deserved it, or weren't a real man in the first place. Raped while young? You probably wanted it, and you're only talking about it now because someone found out. And on and on... it's really sad.

On the actual topic, though, I don't see this tweet as such a big deal. Probably only became one because he's got a lot of followers, and statistically some of them have been roofied and raped, so it's hard for them to hear roofies spoken of casually. It's why people who are high profile should generally just be careful about what they say.

Jamiex66  +   387d ago
Rape has happened in my family, really close to it and I didn't even think of it until people pointed it out. Unless you have even dealt with this issue first hand, whats give you the right to say anything on the matter?

I cannot stand people thinking they are an authoritative figure on the matter, when they don't know the first thing about how people who have dealt with this react.
NiteX  +   388d ago
I like how they pulled rape out of nowhere. Then tell him to die. Classy people on this here internet.
Buljo  +   388d ago
He shouldn't have even apologized. I swear people are getting more hateful and retarded every minute. There's no common sense anymore. Everyone just bashes everyone. Well, I'm jumping on the bandwagon just to say that those idiots who nitpick over every single fucking thing can just go roll over in shit and die stuffing it in their throats. Whoops, I can hear the police coming..
M1chl  +   388d ago
I just don't get it. I am not an English native speaker, but "roofled" means receive oral sex, right? How does it equals rape???
ChipChipperson  +   388d ago
He said roofied.
Skate-AK  +   388d ago
Hahaha. I'm an American and I have never heard that term.
aLucidMind  +   388d ago
A roofie is a pill that basically knocks a person out; some shady men use it to knock out a women at a bar by spiking her drink with it and rape them. It's the most infamous and well-known use of the drug, but certainly isn't the only one. People just like to assume the worst, even if it means pulling shit out of their own ass.

I was wondering what people would be crying about this week, last week was the trophy name and now this. I feel like slapping the jerks who tweeted for ken Levine to die, the tweet is not offensive at all.
Bathyj  +   388d ago
Its funny how a light hearted joke is so wrong, but wishing someone dead is ok.
TH3 GAM3  +   387d ago
Its funny you mention the trophy name. I reach that part of the game in GoW:A. When I seen it, I was like seriously. This is what the big deal is about. People need to grow up.
Williamson  +   387d ago
Yeah I know! I saw the scene on youtube and laughed, even by gow standards it didnt come close to being brutal. It seemed to me as that sessler dude wanted some attention but I definitely have no respect for him now.
Bathyj  +   388d ago
Oh get over yourself internet.

You people need to watch some jim jefferies if you want to be really offended, and I don't mean his tv show which is almost g rated in comparison, but his hbo special.

Now I want to add a joke here from ted that mark walberg said, to illustrate the ridiculous double standards leveled on anything games related and the witch hunting culture of twitter frenzy that seems to blow everything out of proportion these days, but then twitter might come after me.
Kamikaze135  +   388d ago

Why do shit human beings exist? I follow Ken Levine's twitter and most of his tweets are jokes. His trying to be a funny and out-there sort of guy.

He definitely doesn't deserve this sort of treatment.

HonestDragon  +   388d ago
The hell? Well, I'm not at all surprised given that this is the internet we are seeing this kind of reaction from. People these days are seriously looking to get offended for random crap. Not that they just hear stuff, but actively search for it on purpose or take these things out of context. What a bunch of morons...
Nes_Daze  +   388d ago
This only confirms how annoying those feminists, attention seeking idiots like these are everywhere actually..
overrated44  +   388d ago
People are absolutely ridiculous, and it seems that a lot of people on the internet are just looking for a reason to get mad and then venting their anger toward anyone that says something they don't like (the irony of writing this on N4G does not escape me). Let's be serious though, if you look at interviews and articles with or about Ken Lavine he seems like a pretty nice guy that is probably smarter than a lot of people in the industry...He CERTAINLY does not seem like the type of person to make a rape joke, I would say the people that saw his statement as a reference to rape are worse people than him because let's be real, they're the ones that went immediately to rape, not Ken Levine. Lay off the guy, he tried to make a joke and did't realize it would offend some people, go take a Midol and get over it.
