Completely disagree about this doing the job. I put out $150 for it and it does a weird blinking with the passthrough. Makes playing games like CoD while capturing IMPOSSIBLE. The software included is also a joke and even on my "beast" of a computer (i7 3770K, 16GB RAM, GTX 670), it starts to lag the recording. Extremely displeased.

I have to be honest, NintendoGal, I have this product and it works wonderfully! Been using it for the last 4 months or so now. I'm sorry to hear you're having troubles with it.

I did notice there was a firmware update when I initially hooked it all up. Not sure if you've done it already.

My PC

i7 3770K
12GB RAM
GTX TITAN (although it worked great on my GTX 570)

I have this and it records great. Using a labtop 2.4GHZ quad core I think and 6gigs of ram. So it definitely isn't a powerful PC and I don't have any problems. Try going into options when you open ArcSoft Showbiz and tinkering with it to see better results. I have some gameplay vids uploaded already if people doubt I have the hd pvr 2. I like the fact that doesn't record in the background like the Elgato. You can't go wrong with either to be honest. The only problems that I've had is that at times it would not record any gameplay(hardly happens) but just hit the record button again it will start recording again.

ThatEnglishDude damn can't wait until I get a more stronger PC to help with rendering. Must be nice having a i7 3770K processor. And I'm pretty sure I updated mine as well. Good to hear you're not having any problems with the capture device like me.

NintendoGal hmmm could maybe be a defective one that you got. Try returning it if possible. You never know.

I wouldn't mind going for a HD capture device. Right now I'm using a SD BlitzBox and it's serving me really well. Almost no complaints, after a little setup.

Before getting the hd pvr2 I was using the non hd Roxio capture device and it was okay but it definitely could not do hd. You can't go wrong with the hd pvr2 or even Elgato although with the Elgato it uses more system resources as the required specs is at least 4 gigs of ram compared to 2 gigs of ram with hd pvr2. Not sure about processing power.

Just a few more months and we'll never need capture cards again hopefully. I dipped into streaming for a solid month and it was the most hassle I've ever had with technology.

Theoretically, if the PS4 has the A/V connector (unlikely I suppose) then there's no reason it wouldn't work, right? And the 360 is HDMI compatible so as long as the Xbox successor is hooked up the same way, wouldn't it read it? Forgive my ignorance, I just don't see what would block the hardware from reaching the video feed if it's hooked up the same way.

Coolasj is talking about the PS4 supporting this stuff, though I think that is a HUGE leap of faith. For all we know it will be a very limited fuction that would be great if you want to upload something simple / fast, but nowhere near good enough to replace a HDPVR in terms of making parts and putting those together.
