I really shouldn't care about numbers especially numbers that aren't 100% accurate and even more so cause we are at the end of a generation but the ps3 is still chugging over a 1 million units in 2 months.
Sony/PS3 is selling pretty strong, at the end of its cycle. They have just caught up to XBOX and maybe taken them over .. at the end of their cycles. So well done.

PS3 still has another 3 or so years under its belt and will still have games developed for it as well as the PS4 for a little longer. Microsoft will most likely kick 360 to the curb when the 720 is released.
Actually ps3 has sold 1,000,000 and a half more consoles than 360 xbox worldwide and that is not counting all the red ring xboxs 360 im on my third xbox 360 my first 1 xbox 360 red ringed me my 2 the disk drive broke i barely played it xbox 360 quality is a nightmare im still on my first ps3

The ps3 came out with and without wifi but soon sony discontinued the non-wifi version. so that left only the system with wifi to sell. Since then they had been increasing the hdd size.
360 came without wifi but it was always an option available to either the 360 w/hdd or without. The real change was not so much the inclusion of that but the addition of the HDMI port. That was something you really couldnt add to the 1st gen systems.
so while you may not agree that the changes made were for the better, those changes have resulted in a higher percentage of systems purchased as compared to the 1st release. That is usually what happens.
I mean look at the number of PSP 1000 sold and then look at the increased number of 2000 and 3000 systems sold. The 2000 was the first revision but it doubled the internal memory. The 3000 had an even better screen.
Do those some how negate the original 1000? Not in the least. They add to the overall number. We can assume that there is a percentage of the newer systems that were purchased by existing users that wanted to have the newer model.
We really dont know exact numbers and probably never will. Not even sony or MS knows for sure. I can say there are many who i know that bought more than one 360 or PS3. Not because of RROD but simply to have the newer model.
Me personally...I have 3. The original 20gb 05 launch system (still works today), the revised black elite 07 system (which also works) and a more recent 360 slim edition (it works too).
I guess I should admit that not only am i a gamer but I like variants. So while I may have 3 360's myself, i add that to my collection of 4 PS1's (all of them are different) and 3 PS2's (all different models) and all 4 hardware versions of the PSP.
My point is, the overall number of units sold is not a true representation of the number of systems in use by individuals. There are several on this site that have more than 1 of a single platform.

1) Nobody cares about the method of button. 2) A powerloader just means having a motor, a volatile part that will probably go bad before the rest of the system.
that is ever gamers favorite line I think, but very rarely is anything different after E3 imho. I think Vita will take off once the PS4 lands but that is just me & a thought which in the real world means nothing.
I agree with him and I'm a Vita fanboy. It should be number 1. Look how the Gameboy started it all and then look at the Vita. It's a fing epic godsend of a portable system, but most gamers are too cheap to own it.

sales are scewed how many people own a ps3 and a xbox 360. I have both. I will tell you when a game comes out and is cross platform I buy it for xbox. I only buy games on the ps3 that I cant play on the xbox. but tell you what I have not turned my ps3 on in probally 5 months.
